Nice content! Best of luck with the Gladiator. I got here because I've been watching CR-Vs off-roading to see if I should invest a little in my FWD CR-V. I think it's better for me to get something else. I'll keep watching your videos! Peace.
It sucks that the radiator broke. As you said, you really did take it easy that day, and it still went out. I get why you feel this way bro. Sometimes this hobby can feel like a punishment.
Before Any engine overheating, turn the cabin fan MAX to heat!!! Vent as much of the heat as possible. Run only for a few minutes the engine, switch off the engine. A real pain but it help if help is close by. Engine overheating damage is not too bad to fix if you can do the work yourself. New head gasket, new bolts for cylinder head, check cylinder head still completely straight.
Great trail run! Sorry to see this old gal go, but totally understand. Oh, and I sure did miss your camera mate, but some of those shots you got were cool, especially the under carriage shot showing the flex!
Sweet. Kiss the Big Bird goodbye. The Gladiator will be more enjoyable once you get some armor on it. If the trail become too easy, it just means you get to come out to BC and do some wicked trails.
@SmokinMonkeyOG it's hard to let go of a rig. When we built our Frontier, we had a solid XJ build going on. We sold it to a guy in the next town. A few months later he moved onto our current street. I drive down memory lane every day.
If you watch your own video, you will see other TJ's wheeling by and there not broke. Truly it was only a matter of time for the zip ties to break so there is three radiators and a fan gone because of a failure of the fixers not the jeep, same with your hydro locked engine, not the jeep's fault, yours. If you're going to wheel you will find your rigs weak spots and the key is to find a fix that doesn't break and for sure you will find your gladiator's weak spots and I'm betting you don't call that junk when it breaks, and I am betting the fixes will be more expensive. Great video by the way and at least you had fun until you broke.
Lmao go watch my videos from the beginning. This thing is junk…… I’m not blaming the things I break on anyone but myself. Doesn’t change the fact it’s junk. There’s ford model a cars driving around too doesn’t mean the rest of them aren’t junk now
Depends on your perspective I guess, I've bought vehicles that were headed or the junk yard, rebuilt and upgraded them and driven them 100,000 miles plus and only junked them because the frame or body were rusted beyond repair and on the other side, I've seen people buy brand new vehicles and destroy them in six months and claim they had done nothing wrong the vehicle was just junk to begin with, go figure. Everyone in our jeep club has custom built rigs, CJ's thru JK's and they all get upgraded or modified when they brake so they don't break again, it's the name of the game. And they all break as will your Gladiator, at 74 years old I've never seen one that doesn't break.
Just put in a new transfer case, limited slip rear end, new u joints and few other things so I’m going to keep sending it. At this point nobody will offer me anything worth my time so it’s going to be a trail rig for the rest of it’s life I think
This looks like soooo much fun , damn wish we had spots like this in Saskatchewan :( , pretty well have all the goodies on my TJ from arb air lockers front and back , 35” anti rock , SYE , 5” lift etc and most I can do is buy groceries with it every Saturday, just do not have these types of locations ,
Ya they do great actually, if you’re moving at speed on the road the window is better but when you’re not going fast enough for the window to do anything the fans work great
Ya do know what Jeep means???? Just. Empty. Every. Pocket. And yes I am on my second Jeep. And I don’t mind fixing. The old yellow bird. There are a lot of the old ones still out there crawling.
@@SmokinMonkeyOG yeah I understand. I used to have a nice lifted cheerokee 1996 I put a lot of money into as well. Then motor issues chased and chased. Then I sold part by part now I just saw the thing driving and it looks bare. From when I had it. Now my yellow tj. Frame repairs now floor repairs and body mounts. It’s never ending. But it’s a love for jeeps.
Monkey, the content is great but Big Bird is a piece of fecal matter. I came to this channel for the Gladiator so why not just sell the TJ and get some of your $$$ back and start wheeling the JT? Oh and bring Justine with you because she makes your videos so much more interesting.
That bottom bolt buddy cost you your radiator, cracked it on the bottom. I get where you are coming from but the rads are plastic there, I'd save money and get an aluminum one this wouldn't happen, and the bolt. Way too much movement up front.
I bought a cheap one off rock auto already but I’ll look into it for my next one. I’ve already done 6 so I’m sure it won’t be long before I have to rip it out again.
@@SmokinMonkeyOG awesome! keep riding big bird, I hear new ones got plenty of issues as soon as they hit trails. Anyways love seeing the adventures around in Ontario :)
@@SmokinMonkeyOG when you have a Wife/Girlfriend like her that likes and enjoys what you do. You have found a GOOD ONE MY FRIEND!!!! HAND ON TIGHT 2 THAT ONE....
Dude all vehicles get old. And when you're off roading especially rock crawling and torquing the frame that type of environment is going to find a weak spot. And you can't jerry-rigged or temporarily fix something when you're off-roading that's just another that will be found out on the trail at the most inopportune time. Great video but you did look a bit deflated at the end. I'm in Southern California and been in death valley by myself in the middle of nowhere and I don't push it.
The thing was almost ready for the scrap yard when I got it so I feel like whenever I fix one thing something else is always waiting around the corner from years of neglect by previous owners. But I hear you I don’t expect nothing to break but it’s always something stupid lol. Can’t lie I was pretty defeated at the end of that day but I got it fixed up again
By the way dude that black pepper and the eggs you put in only works on a pinhole. You're going to have to flush that entire system. Just flushed my Jk couple weeks ago.
I have no idea how you didnt cook that motor too. The sound you thought was the fan as you drove to the gas station was the motor predetonating due to being overheated. I cant believe you didnt melt a piston. Knock on wood dude.
I highly doubt it was predestination because the thermostat didn’t hit red till after I parked and I’ve literally driven it home on red for like an hour once and just listened to it boil for like 40min after I parked it and it started up again and drove fine the next day lol 😂 those engines are a lot more resilient than people think. I’ve definitely torture tested mine lol
No. It wasn't. "Pinging" is a very distinct sound - 'melt a piston' over predetonation? lol kids these days. Used to driving an engine held together with cardboard and glue are you?
@@smackhead sorry is the mighty 4.0 invulnerable to overheating and pinging? What do you know that I don't? That was pinging. I've heard it thousands of times before on thousands of dynos and my own personal built motors in the past.
What you heard was the metal fan getting hit with the radiator/ high pressure rad fluid coming out of the hole. The Jeep is fine I’ve driven it 1000km since this and zero issues. Actually runs better than it has in a long time lol 😂
As long as Mike has the TJ, I keep buying shares in CAA 😅
Would love to see some gladiator content soon!
Lmao 😂
“Don’t think breakfast is gonna do it” 😂 that was funny. 😁
Like always, just absolutely hilarious to watch the disasters unfold. Keep on smokin!!! Your videos never let me down!!!!

fix the rad support and your rad problems will go away

The key to not letting it get to me is knowing. I built my frontier to be more capable.
Well done.,.
Fix the Tj and raffle it I’ll definitely join lol

That was a great trail run.😎👍why don't you try getting an electric fan like from a Grand Cherokee.👌
Not a bad idea but I think I solved it
Just curious, you ever tried JB weld on your radiator?
Ya I did once when I had a crack but it didn’t last long
I'll buy it off you right now !!!

Question about your dual fans , I also have no air in my TJ . Do those help abit to at least circulate some air around you ?

That jlu looks just like mine , but I have a soft top, crazy good off- road .
Ya bone stock wrangler rubicon does pretty good off road
Wished mine was a rubicon is the only thing ,
But love my sport to be honest, manual windows are a trip 😂😅
I hear that, wish my TJ was a rubicon too lol but I was surprised they still sell them with roll up windows when I saw one at the dealer
this engine must be roasted after this holy shit.
I cooked the last one for longer like a dozen times this thing is fine lol
Well now the bolt has to be fixed so it does not happen again. And ruin a radiator
that rock garden is nothing now, it has really changed
Been the same for the past 4 years I’ve been going there
If you go and fix things better than a zap strap and expect it to lasyt multiple runs it would prolly not break as much 🤔 just saying 🍻
Have to use what you have on you at the time but I hear you
@SmokinMonkeyOG you gots talent on fixing that thing but don't skimp out on your cooling system 😎
The only reason you hate it is because you have the newer one if you did not have it the yellow bird would be good.
I’ve actually hated it long before I got the new one lol but having the new one doesn’t help

I've bloody asked the same thing
More than anyone is willing to pay. I’ve had if sale for almost a year and it’s still here

Probably time to cut the TJ loose. Life's too short to be miserable man.
That’s pretty much what I’m thinking these days. I fixed it for now so we’ll see how long it lasts but my patience are limited lol
Make the honda bigger
So Crv took the W ? 😅
You can’t beat the Honda reliability lol
install electric fan
It can’t keep up. Everyone with this engine that has done that has had lots of cooling problems

Love the vids but you really need to retire big bird. All the money you sink into this you could be putting into the new rig.
Believe me I’m done spending money on this one, I’ve already started getting parts together for the other one!
