- This lil’ Mini is so much fun! It’s only 1000lbs, which means the 250hp Hayabusa motor is MORE than enough to bust ass on the streets! It’s a bit of a tight squeeze for two adults, but we managed to take it out to see what it’s all about..and let’s just say it certainly earned its 1320video stamp of approval!

In the UK we have 3 main types of engine swaps for the Classic Mini Hyabusa, Honda K-Series & Rover K-Series. Also putting a BMW twin cam head on the original Mini A-Series engine is a pretty popular mod.

I have heard of the Vauxhall 2.0/2.4L DOHC I4 swap though with 250hp. Mean little basterds too
Yeah if you google "bmw twin cam a series" its an interesting mod and garages do full conversion kits. Lots of the hill climb and sprint boys do it

yeah id say honda B series are way more common than k series hondas. like 20 to 1. im not even sure anyone has done one here in australia yet. im doing a twin cam conversion for my 1293. converting to injection aswell. possibly turbocharging it in the future if i want more power. its got a 1275GT gearbox and a 286 cam on there already but the seals need changing so its sitting there until i get round to converting it.
anyway, yes, theres bmw bike conversion kits for both the 8 valve and 16 valve heads. i think its the k100 and k120 engines? cant remember the names.

I agree, imo I think people just see conflict in situations where there is none because they’ve had negative associations with similar looking/acting people in their past. It takes real self awareness to look past your subconscious thoughts n feelings and give everyone a fair chance. Cars sick!! To be fair with the Owner, 1 on 1 he's prob. more relaxed and willing to show his Passions (like me).. But ad a crowd to it, 1000's even (1320's filming you) I know I'd be a bit more stiff and stand offish!

Reminds me of when I owned a mini and this one had a Mini Metro 1.300cc engine in it, it was so cool, budgie yellow, black roof also, kitted out with Recaro seats, I was only 23 yrs old and it was the bollox, back in 1986 this was, oh the memories eh.............

What a beast. In my younger days I owned a Mini Cooper S with twin petrol tanks and a 1310cc motor which drove excellent especially around corners. Would love to own one today

Mini's are brilliant, I've had a few over the years. they are easy to tune and can take on many bigger powered cars and show them a clean pair of heel's especially on a tight windy road, UK.

Yup, that's how I learned. The camera guy was so amazed by how he's shifting by sound. Anyway, at least the driver looked like he was having a blast. lol
Yeah in normal driving I don't see a reason to look at the tacho when shifting, you don't need to pick a sweetspot. I evere only glance at it when I push the car around the redline
It will take you more effort and cause more road safety problems to learn all the appropiate numbers that the tacho might show. If you need to get up to speed quickly (highway entry for example), you just keep pressing the gas until you think ‘now its enough noise’. It’s just common sense.

If the number plate is from the original then that car started life in a town very near me....Stafford. Had lots of Mini's over the years during my time fiddling around with cars, including Coopers and Cooper S but my favourite was a 1964 Mk1 Mini i rescued from a guy who was about to scrap it. It was a real rare find as very few Mk1 Mini's were left in UK by the 80's because owners treated them as "just another Mini" so most were neglected and quickly ended up at the scrap yards.....unlike Cooper S which were actually much easier to find.
A Mini like this in the US though??? No fun at all. All your roads are way too wide with loooong straights!! Mini's really come to life on narrow twisting roads and that's where you have the most fun with them, throwing them into corners. This guy is just blasting up and down a long straight which is really boring.

theres far more insane builds than the typical honda engine conversions. im planning a 4WD/AWD, mid-engined Inline/V6 hillclimb and time attack mini. its going to be my next build. im going to take it to the very limit of what is possible with the traditional mini body shape. for the advances in aerodynamics and whatnot, itll most likely be a spaceframe, at least there will be very little of the standard shell left anyway. At least that way i can fiddle with the aero on the underside aswell. while revolutionary and unique, a minis suspension and driveline setup is positively antique these days.
