I’m 65, and went to UW-Madison. Not only was it traditional to serve cheese on apple pie but back then, it was against the law to serve margarine in a restaurant. Yummy. My dad was from ND, and I grew up with the cheddar on apple pie tradition.
I remember my favorite thanksgiving book growing up was called thanksgiving cats and one of the lines was apple pie with cheese and I was always so confused about it! This adds so much clarity
Thanks for the video. My favourite videos are when you are alone in the kitchen creating. One thought on the apple pie: I always grate 5 y/o white cheddar into my apple pie (before baking) The tart and salt of the cheese balances nicely against the sweet & savory apples/seasoning. No one knows what is different about my apple pie but everyone loves it.
As a kid in the 50's there was nothing better than a thick slab of cheddar on apple pie. Like I said, was. Sometime in the early 60's I learned about a big scoop of real vanilla ice cream on that apple pie - I was in heaven. Still like the cheddar but when that ice cream hits the pie I am like Snuffles in the old Quick Draw McGraw cartoons - you have to be of a certain age - - -
This is one of my favorite pies that my church would have over the holidays and their big potluck and it’s something I’ve never seen after moving out of Iowa! People think that I made it up!
Made it last night - can't wait to try it later. It is huge and looks amazing - Finally cut into it - Everything tasted great, however I ended up with too much liquid inside, so the slices fell apart since it was a bit soupy.

As a Texan, I've never had or heard of adding *sharp* cheddar on apple pie and thought that was alien. I can't even remember where I saw it from, but ever since that day, I refuse to eat apple pie without that sheddair. It might have been Food Network, i dunno. That was a loooooong ass time ago. So I was about to complain about how this is a Wisconsin apple pie and no cheddar cheese, and then it got added at the very end. Partner, you did good.

I love cheese on apple pie. The 1st time I heard of it was Robert DeNero asking for it, in the movie "Taxi Driver." I've been eating it that way ever since. Thank you Adam.😊✌️

Thanks for the breakdown! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
Back in the 60's the Wisconsin apple pie with cheese mandate was a real thing. You also could not buy colored margarine. (It was sold as a white block with a yellow die capsule.) Got milk?
If you're trying to avoid gluten in the crust, why use bread flour? Surely a lower-gluten flour would work better, or am I fundamentally misunderstanding?
The apple pie with cheese law is Vermont, not Wisconsin. And yes, it’s real. Edit: Paper catches fire at 451 degrees Fahrenheit. There’s a book about it.
I knew a chef who always served apples with cheese , it’s an awesome combo.
I’m 62 years old from north central IL. I remember cheese being put on apple pie back in the ‘60s. Good stuff! 😋😎

Turning the apple juice into caramel is absolutely brilliant and I’m trying that with the next apple pie I make for sure.

I'm from Michigan. My dad (RIP) always had cheddar cheese on this apple pie.
Adam- I can't find the recipe on the link you posted.

Cheddar on apple pie dates back to 16'th century England.
Love the LoZ treasure chest sound you used!
I love your camera work! Who does your filing?!?
Tried the apple pie with a slice of cheddar on it when I was on a cruise. Delicious!!!
Go Wisconsin!! Yes cheddar and apples.
Your videos are great!
Bradbury told us that paper doesn't burn until 451 degrees Fahrenheit.
@@LordDragon1965 not sure who that is, but sounds like a nice man.

my family from ohio does this . . . and my family from WI doesn't lol but yeah definitely have run into this in the upper midwest!
Cheese on apple pie is also a Southern thing. We do it in east Texas
It is an English thing. Apple pie and Cheddar are both English, so is cheddar cheese on Apple pie, it is a foreign thing.
When/ why did you start using that SFX for when you add eggs to stuff? I think it’s hilarious but just curious how it came about
It works, right? Growing up in MI, we always that those WisKAHNson people were crazy.....but it works, and it's good!
There is nothing wrong with a thick slice of sharp cheddar cheese with a slice of homemade apple pie 🥧 🧀 😋
I'm 60 and from Arizona and have always had cheddar on my apple pie. It has to be cheddar.
Apple on a cheese platter works so I get it
Of course the paper bag is fine in a 425 degree oven, everyone knows paper burns at Fahrenheit 451.
Absolutely love your channel dude. Please never stop pumping the videos. If you ever come to Australia, hmu.
LOL the salt comment was oddly specific
Apple pie without the cheese is like a hug without the squeeze ~Unknown
😅
There's nothing weird about cheddar with apple pie. I grew up eating it like that many decades ago. It was once standard diner fare.
Cheese pastry apple pie 🥧

Definitely to sharp cheese, just not with a cookie crust. (PA thing too).
If you're trying to avoid gluten in the crust, why use bread flour? Surely a lower-gluten flour would work better, or am I fundamentally misunderstanding?
Avoiding stretching / developing the gluten - but yeah a lower gluten flour would probably be a shorter crust also
💚
does anyone else eat granny smiths after putting salt on them my mom family does this. they are canadian irish from Montreal.

Apple pie is from England and so is adding cheddar cheese (English) to apple pie. Sorry but it isn't unique, it is imported.
Those apples look dry and sad. Wheres the sauceyness??
I’m sure it’s good, but the way the cheese is just slapped on there is so unappealing to me.
Did you film this last year? Winter isn't until Saturday.
0 chance I use cheese on pie, gross
