SUMMARY
- Apply a thin line of fluorescent paint on your glasses case. It’ll become much easier to find it in a dark room.
- Never wipe the lenses with your shirt’s hem or sleeve: they’ll leave tiny scratches that will create an additional burden for your eyes.
- In case of an emergency, when your spectacles aren’t available, you can do without them. If you’re near-sighted, use your smartphone to see details more clearly.
- Dishwashing liquid is perfect for lenses! Don’t use cleansers containing alcohol, vinegar, ammonia, or bleach as these substances deteriorate the protective coating of the lenses.
- Clouding over is one of the biggest problems for those who wear glasses. To stop the lenses from becoming opaque with a change of temperature, apply some liquid or hard soap on them in advance.
- Don’t use your spectacles as a hairband - the frame will lose its shape and start falling off. When washing your face and in other situations when you don’t use your glasses, better just take them off.
- If you lose the screws, you can use a toothpick as a temporary solution. Connect the frame and the earpiece, insert the toothpick, and break off the excess.
- If your glasses keep sliding down, hold the rounded parts of the earpieces in hot water for a few minutes until the plastic gets a bit softer. Then bend the ends down, so they better fit your ears.
- To adjust the nosepieces, put your glasses on an even surface to see how they look compared to each other.
- If you’ve got wide-spaced eyes, opt for glasses with a thick or prominent bridge. This will draw attention to the middle of your face, making your eyes visually closer to each other.
- A piece of advice for drivers: don’t leave your plastic glasses on the dashboard in direct sunlight. Heating up, the lenses may lose shape or even pop. It’s best to store your spectacles in the glove compartment in a special pocket.

Ikr, when I'm at school everyone takes off my glasses and runs. I'm not blind without them. So they decided to run past me, thinking I was blind. I tripped him and got my glasses back. I got eye cancer when I was 7. Long story short I'm alive (thanks for asking) and wear my glasses all the time except when I sleep (yes, even in the shower). And for that reason I dont own a case. So ya.

Pelumi Aluko I know! I have worn glasses since elementary school and have never used the cases! If they aren't on my face they are right by me. Never truly damaged a pair not even when I got a volleyball slammed in the face in gym class. They are a lot sturdier then people think.

My prescription isn't that strong/my eye sight isn't the bad, so I didn't relate to a lot of the jokes and some of the hacks.

I'm on the other end of the spectrum, my prescription is extremely high. Many of these don't apply to me either. If I take mine off, I can't find them even with the light on! Nor would a magnifying glass be any help at all.

Do not use dishwashing soap to wash your glasses. It makes them more foggy/dirtier. Instead, use hand soap. Oh, and also dont use a soap bar. Same thing happens.
Optometrists are better with anything concerning eyeglasses and contact lenses than an Ophthalmologist. Also don't adjust your eyeglasses yourself, best to bring them to an optical clinic so a professional can adjust it for you and so you don't break your expensive eyeglasses.

I can't wear my glasses without looking like a stereotypical librarian (you know with their glasses at the tip of their nose) because my eyelashes hit the lenses it's supper annoying, but on the plus side my eyesight is not really that bad so I only use them when I need to.

Actually it's bad for your eyes (meaning that your glasses won't help you as much as they should) if you don't position them correctly on your nose-that's why they measure the distance between your pupils. You could give eyelash lift/perm a try. I have the same problem😅

Haha, you're welcome-I don't know if it's damaging for the eyes, but it will make your eyes tired, they have to work harder, and you don't see as clear as you would if they were positioned right. 😄💜
One way to help with your eyelashes is to get them (professionally) cut. If you try to cut them yourself you could injure your eyes (more), your eyelids, and potentially your eyebrows or the bridge of your nose. Another option is to get custom glasses that are designed specifically for you and your eyes. These glasses do cost more but they can definitely be worth the price.
