- We decided to join some buddies of ours and enter their poor diesel challenge!! We gotta build a truck for under $10,000 including the cost of the truck... Then we have to do a 100 mile drivability test, dyne comp, drag race and burnout comp. Come catch us at UCC And see what these trucks can do!!!

ive got a 6.0 without headstuds at 300k miles, Love it but damn the anxiety is high. Trips from Florida to Michigan and back can almost give a man a 6.0 power stroke heart attack
I had to pull a boat recently that had one of the side rails rot off and even then I don't think I was sweating as hard as being 1000k miles from home with a no-stud 6.0
Florida to Michigan? I take it you may have a snowbird rig that hauls a 5th wheel down here?

Have zero faith in any 6.0. I’m still driving my 02’ 7.3 4WD Lariat. Only 394,000 miles on it. No blow by. Every 5,000 miles 14 quarts of fresh oil and a pint of Hot Shot Secret Stiction fluid.
Original HPOP, injectors, rest of long block. Transmission rebuild/ beef up at 200k. Starter, alternator, a/c clutch, high pressure oil lines. Few other normal wear items and sensors But nothing major. Want a 6.7 but can’t bring myself to drop $100,000 when this one is still strong.

Ive had zero issues with my 6.0 I've slowly built it better over rhe years but all internals are still stock one thing I did blow was my transfer case but other than that I'm at about 700hp still going strong

Man, all these 6.0 videos have made me want one 😅 maybe it’s a false confidence I have, but after the right modifications they seem to take a ton of abuse
I just bought a 6.0 myself after all these years I’ve wanted a 04 lariat back in high school and finally bought one lol I don’t regret it… yet
Once done right, they're certainly an animal that'll take *some* abuse. They're pretty solid and will last a while. WAY better than the 6.4 pile that replaced it
Once junk always junk. If you have to rebuild 75% of it get a 7.3.
If you find a decent one that’s been well maintained/low miles they aren’t too bad. Mine has no studs but only sits at 130k miles. Typically, head studs=probably been abused. I’ve had more brake issues than engine issues. 😅
That rust ain't nothin compared to the rust up north. You're lucky to have a cab.... or even more lucky to have a visible frame lol

Yeah gotta take care of them . Nobody does that anymore ...I keep mine alive and rust free . Takes a lot of work though .

@cupwalker24.7 That's not 100% true they rust regardless. My 03 sierra I got 480k miles out of. Oil sprayed twice a year, and I washed it regularly. The rockers were toast, the frame was crusty, and the wheel wells were starting to go. I got my use out of it, but the body/frame went before the engine and trans..
You should do a budget twin turbo set up lol. I've seen it done pretty cheap as long as you can weld.

If memory serves, I think this was a pool truck when JH picked it up. My memory is foggy, but it either had to do with pools, or constantly dropping boats in the salty Gulf

Up north, its not worth buying a diesel truck unless you tow for a living. Your truck will rust away before you get to 300,000 miles. Most trucks are shot after driving thru 10 winters.

You sound so proud of your trucks rusting in half by 100k miles of your lucky, believe me we don't want to be on yalls rust problems you can have all them issues I kinda enjoy being able to work on my stock 1994 c1500 with 518k miles on the clock without snapping off every bolt just doing a brake job😂 I couldn't imagine what yall gotta deal with, my heart goes out to yall fellas up north

11:39 i’m just gonna re-seal it. It’s all good drops in a new set of connecting rods and some pistons to hold the nitrous. Seems like it’s going to be a built engine to me.😂

If you're going to do a serious diesel burnout vehicle. I'd suggest putting it in something cool. I think the people like the diesel swap especially something making power.

I have an 04 6.0 bulletproofed besides head studs. Has new hpop,icp,ipr, main engine harness, ficm,fuel pump, fuel pickup.... Still have a problem with it running til it gets warm then it dies. You can cycle the key and it fires up. Any suggestions

Be fair, but don’t cut yourself short… You’re probably going to be the most honest person of the bunch. When you could easily cheat your way to victory and no one would ever know, but your too honest…
Bottom of that cab looks like every Canadian Rust bucket that wasn't oil sprayed every spring or fall.
If I ever bought a new 60ish grand truck. Have it Dismantled N Raptor line the hole underside of it. There should be trucks offered from the factory with that option.
My 6.0 doesn't have headstuds...that's a $5k job...🤬
Get rid of those stock manifolds and get a set of bd's and there up pipes and that will help egts a lot

6.0s can be fast but boy the 6.4 was a whole different animal. To bad they had so many issues.

Justin, do you have enough money for a cheap compound turbo setup so that when you do the burnouts that you don't lose power at the bottom end of the range of a single turbo ?????

You should build a race truck vs another burnout truck. I never really understood the burnout truck thing. I like doing burnouts to a point but just beating them up by hitting the wall and blowing motors up is a little over kill.
I hope you went thru and double checked those bed pan bolts. In the video you definitely missed one.
