I started playing day 1 and saved everything to get Jing Yuan. He’s been in my teams from the his release. So basically I’ve been pulling good teammates and refaming relic sets for most of HSR 😅 Much too nostalgic to swap for any other lightning dps. Sunday is going to be the perfect cherry on the cake.
Do note that Aventurine's 50 effect res, ain't gonna stop Jingyuan from getting CCed.... Unless you have Gepard's Lightcone on Aventurine, which increases the odds of targetting said tank.
Jing yuan is hoyos favorite child? So were just going to ignore the fact they made an entire planar set purely for firefly, changed the normal relic set to benefit firefly over the only other break dps that existed back then and are making every break related support fire. All of jingyuans "buffs" were just new better supports that helped every other character too, and duke which was just the first relic set made for followups.
I still don’t understand how ppl even got the notion that Jing yuan was somehow “buffed” pre Sunday when all his buffs also buffed everyone else Topaz = was never a buff to him unless you go double digit cost (literally mainly because back then you really only could increase his LL dmg by so much he needed another unit to contribute dmg at higher invest) Ruan Mei = pretty much an equal buff to everyone at the time mainly bcz harmony options were limited back then Sparkle = also a buff to Seele Dhil, etc Robin = even ignoring fua, Seele benefited more from Robin then Jing yuan Ofc there’s stuff like the duke relic set and whatnot, which I won’t deny was definitely an improvement that he got, but I’m mainly talking abt buffs in terms of support.
Even if everyone gets stronger a buff is still a buff. But most importantly, I think Jing Yuan is the exception because of just how much he improves and how frequently he finds synergy in almost every new support (as you’ve outlined, although he is mainly a hypercarry he can feed off of follow up supports as well as the possible upcoming summoning meta) It doesn’t make him the best but for how long he’s been around he has aged quite well.
It would be a lie if JY didn't got buffed from the chars before. It was the same notion when Sparkles released, now look at Robin(she's just that busted)
