Thank you! I have had my blow up sheep doll for quite some time, but due to an over abundance of "use" I thought all was lost, and here you come to save the day with this awesome video! Dolly & I are so happy we found you!
2 things I have also found useful: 1. I put waxed paper over a new patch and then press firmly on the waxed paper to seat the patch. If it is laying flat, you can place a heavy weight over the waxed paper and it will keep the patch flat and tight while it dries. When the glue is fully dry, the waxed paper will peel right off. 2. After a patch has completely dried, I sometimes run a bead of glue all the way around the edges of the patch and then let it set up. It seals the patch and prevents any curling up of the edges or peeling back.
+Thumper1044 The glue I am using in the video sets in about 5 minutes, so it is almost not worth trying to clamp it under anything heavy. I have however run glue around the edge of a patch, but for the most part if I applied the patch well enough I won't do that.
This was so incredibly helpful - thank you! I got a tear in an inflatable vinyl suit and was despondent that I'd never be able to fix it, but following your tutorial I was able to fix the tear, reinforce the seams. Now I have a very full, very happy toy ready to be blown up. Cannot thank you enough
Do not stick the patch on immediately. Either let it sit for at least a minute or gently blow on the patch and surface you want to apply it on until the glue is no longer shiny, then put the patch on. If you put it on wet then it will just slide and curl up at the edges and not stick well.
in seam split how do you preventi the glue from sticking to inside and other side of the inflatable? It always happens to me. What about doing a negative repair for seams (i mean inside instead of outside)? is it a good idea?
I make sure to pull the two sides of the inflatable apart before the glue sets. As long as you pull it apart once or twice it won't stick anymore after that. And yes, I like to do patches on the inside whenever possible.
Hi there Heath , I am filling you in on this because in my Area I now have an inflatable dragon, but Wednesday it got a small hole and it is barely next to the seam, so thanks for the seam steps and hopefully I can (or my Dad can) fix the really small seam split hole. and yes, I have parents in my location
Great video! There's no MEK glue or HH66 glue in my country. (Perú) Would a PVC glue work? We have simple glues, carpenter glue, contact glue, epoxy, silicon for bathrooms, crazy glue,... Or the patches and glue for bicycle inner tire?
Hi there I was curious if you know how to fix a seam split on the internet Unicorn or if you've had any experience with the tail seam split on the Unicorn mine just busted about a baseball size split on the tail and it's on the part that goes down on the wavy seam I think if the curve had been on the upward curve it would be easier to fox but because it's on a curve that goes down it's very hard to figure out
Very informative! I wish I had this information back when I accidentally made a small rip in my whale while trying to figure out where to put it - I ended up just sort of pasting on a square of vinyl, leaving a sharp corner which ruins the feel of the toy a bit. But now, I have this video for future reference! Thanks!
With the seam rip, would it be possible to accidently have glue seap inside and attach to the other side? With all that massaging I'm curious to know if you've ever glued the inside together accidently.
+kellymccabeful Yes, the glue quite frequently does seep into the toy. As long as you peel the two sides of the toy apart before the glue fully sets you will be okay.
The HH-66 vinyl cement I typically use dries so fast it really isn't necessary to clamp it for an extended period. However, other vinyl cements may take longer. You can always check the instructions for the glue you are using.
Hey Heath Dragon, I don't know, if you will still read this, since the Video was a while back ago, but can I do the same glueing you did on pinholes, when they are on the seams, but small enough, that it's really only noticble through the air rushing through, when up close? Because I got a Baphnedia from BeiLe, but sadly found leaks alrady and one of them being the one I mentioned.

I know that this is a older video but is it possible to fix a small horizontal seam tare on the mouth of an inflatable intex whale with just the vinyl cement?
Usually you can find a patch kit in the camping section of Walmart or sporting goods stores, but I just usually use scrap vinyl from cheap inflatables.
Most pool toys are made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride). So you would want to use PVC to repair it. I usually use scrap vinyl from other toys. If you don't have any scrap, you can always buy one of those really cheap inflatable mats from the store to use as material.
I use and exercise to sit on because it keeps my hip from hurting. I had one that last twenty years and everyone that I have purchased since has gotten punctured with a month. I hope this works. If it does i will note in the comment section.
As long as you pull the two pieces apart that you don't want to stick in the first couple minutes of the glue's drying time you can safely pull them apart.
The patches that come with toys are typically just stickers. They sort of are like a small piece of packing tape. They will work temporarily but typically will start leaking quite quickly.
Occasionally the opposite sides will get glued together by accident. The glue I use takes a few minutes to set up so as long as you peel the two halves apart before it fully sets it won't stay stuck together.
If you are repairing simple damage you can buy a glue and patch kit from the local store. You can usually find it in the camping section near the inflatable mattresses. If you are looking to do something more substantial, vinyl can come from scrap pool toys or fresh sheets from a fabric store. You can buy HH-66 online or find Loctite's vinyl and fabric glue in the local store.
+James Nightman I wouldn't recommend tape. You can however find simple patch kits at most superstores, pool supply stores, or sporting goods places. Patch kits usually have a small tube of vinyl glue, a sizable patch of vinyl, and only cost a few bucks.

You're videos are incredible! Can you point me to a PVC fabric that I buy online to patch a large white tear (about 10" long) I have along a seam? There are a lot of different thicknesses for boats, or tents, and I'm not sure what to get. There are also patches, but the ones I find are all small. The tear I have is along the neck of a Sun Pleasure Party Island Unicorn float I bought a couple years ago for $250 on Amazon. My plan is to use HH-66 and put an internal and external patch, and attempt to reinforce the rest of the neck seam with a bead or two of HH-66 - sound like a good plan? THANK YOU!
Who sells that HH-66 glue? In the past I have used Goop cement to form a patch over seam splits. But the seam continues to split under the patch and before long it's leaking again. Does that ever happen with the method you use?
You should be able to find HH-66 online or find Loctite's fabric and vinyl glue in a typical hardware store. The two glues I just listed should bond much better and not result in the issue you described.
I just used scraps of vinyl from another inflatable. You can sometimes find vinyl patch kits at the store in the camping section near the air mattresses.
The situation used to be a seam split and burning damage was fatal, but all other damage could be fixed with large stickers, duct tape and rubber cement. I find this video to be extremely helpful. Any tear on or near a seam you would want to glue on a proper patch not just use the glue.

Usually you can find a patch kit in the camping section of Walmart or sporting goods stores, but I just usually use scrap vinyl from cheap inflatables.

+3D Printing Kid You'd want to use a patch and adhesive meant for flexible vinyl. PVC cement dries rigid which you don't want on a pool toy.

ok thanks i just wondered. a new inner tube was only £4 so i'll order a new one. thanks again
Would a dab of glue on a relatively small seam split be sufficient for my orca?
I would not recommend glue alone on a seam split. The tear in the seam will simply propagate out from underneath the glue.
What about those patches the toys come with? Are those any good for repairing punctures?
The patches that come with toys are typically just stickers. They sort of are like a small piece of packing tape. They will work temporarily but typically will start leaking quite quickly.
Quick question if there's a seam split on like a wing to body of a toy how would you fix that?
Great job. It where you get the patches?🙄
Question, will this work on a small hole on the seam? Thx
Yes, you can use a small patch to patch a small hole on the seam.
How do you keep it from adhering to the other sidein the case of the same split or for that matter any other hole?
Occasionally the opposite sides will get glued together by accident. The glue I use takes a few minutes to set up so as long as you peel the two halves apart before it fully sets it won't stay stuck together.
Heath Dragon ✅
Can I fix a seam tear but there is a cupholder?
I like cutting the ends of tears out with a pair of scissors, i.e. making them round, so the tear doesn't go tearing on from under the patch.
+powerpop23 That sounds like a really good idea. I will have to try that next time.
