Solo was one of the best DC series from the past 21 years. It's a shame it's not an evergreen collection and has been out of print for a few years, gotta hit the bins to read it.
One of my all-time favorite artists. So glad you're getting into some of his stuff. I would love to see you do a deep dive into his THB and/or 100%. I actually met Pope at SPX in 2003. He was doing a panel with Frank Miller. Afterwards he gave out these beautiful large format posters for THB (12"x36", I think). For a guy who was already a god in my eyes he was super humble and chill. Scored an awesome little C-3PO sketch and even had a beer with him after his talk!
Wednesday Comics is another cool Chiarello project you guys should check out. Gaiman, Allred, Pope, Garcia-Lopez, Nowlan, Kubert, Baker, Simonson, Stelfreeze doing big single broadsheet comics serials.
I'd love to see you two do a Paul Pope shoot interview. Some of his work for Kodansha was published in the back of the "One Trick Rip-Off/Deep Cuts" book.
Love Paul Pope! Had a chance to see his originals from the Batman Year 100 at the Cartoon Art Museum (when it existed) in San Francisco CA over 10 + years ago in an exhibition of his work. The large inked up drawings blew my mind. Definitely influenced me as an artist and reader of comics. Had the good fortune to find some of his comics recently at the local library in the coastal Spanish city that I'm at. Improving my reading (Spanish) for sure!
Chiarello illustrates a Batman and Houdini prestige format written by Howard Chaykin. It's really good. Like Jon j Muth with some Alphonse Mucha art deco style
Totally a Paul Pope fan, so this is a treat. Thanks guys! And I, too, would like to see the Kodansha work he was a part of, because I'm a huge manga fan as well.
Paul pope is not only. A great artist, but a really dope person too. The one trick rip-off book by pope and his Adam strange is also amazing. Met him way back in 2014 at Bergen comics in Brooklyn (unfortunately not by Atlantic anymore) with a friend at a fantagraphics family tour event, and he was there. One of the coolest dudes around. Dope to see this discussion on his work and looking forward to more!
Pope's version of Batman brings to mind the Batman story Tony Millionaire drew in the Bizarro Comics collection. Interesting book with DC characters done by alt creators like Dave Cooper, Evan Dorkin and Pope himself.
The metal band Cradle of filth did a film called cradle of fear that had red rooms in it a guy keeps going to Internet cafes to watch them you guys met them enjoy it’s very b movie super violent cheesiness
OMAC is a terrific character. How about looking at John Byrne's four issue OMAC miniseries?

Yeah, Solo! Man, I miss that series. Looking forward to the Jordi Bernet issue.
Fantastic series! Some of the greatest cartoonists of the time including Cooke, Allred, Sale, McCarthy and the great Sergio Aragones.

Whoa...that sounds dope! I'm on the hunt now. Thanks!
Man, Paul Pope is great. I discovered him a year ago on you tube and was an instant fan of his work.

Teenage Sidekick was my favorite on that one.

I really hope you cover the Corben Solo issue. Corben's pen and ink rendering kind of remind me of Ed's inking style.
Not sure how I ever found it, but I adored THB as it was coming out. Extremely sad that it never really had a proper finish.
Would be really nice to hear, what you guys have to said about Paul Chadwick "Concrete" :p
FINALLY!!! SOME PAUL POPE !!! :)
Pope also didn't find a short hand for packing peanuts.

Polystyrene peanuts invented in 1962, available to buy 1965... Solo collected is available from Eaglemoss, if the single issues are tricky to find
