  • Foliar Feeding is an excellent way for your vegetable and fruit plants, and trees, to absorb the maximum amount of nutrients as possible. In the video, I will explain to you the science of how leaves absorb nutrients, through foliar spraying your plants. In addition, I will explain how to do it, when to do it and how more effective foliar feeding can be compared to traditional fertilizing at the root level. I hope you enjoy this video and find foliar feeding useful in your garden.

I know this is a 6 year video, but stumbled upon it after realizing my plants leaves felt thicker and fuller after spraying them with nutrients and water on a whim. Absolutely crazy the difference! Will continue to do this from now on. My plants were thriving before, but now they're becoming almost weeds. Growing, and blooming more than ever. Spectacular!

I found feeding right before sunset is best. Feeding early in the day is fine but if you get to much sun you can burn the plants because water droplets act as little magnifiers. Iv seen growers miss diagnose the burn spots for pest also

I stumbled onto foliage feeding completely by accident last year. I used a garden hose and attached the feeder which released the product during normal watering. The result was an awesome array of snapdragons. Most of my contemporaries had rejected this plant long ago...but the bees, the bees did not. I was rewarded by a plethora of the little fertilizers. Remember, no fertilizers, no fruit. It was quite fascinating how the bees moved the pollen from flower to flower and from plant to plant. Of course, you can also do the beehive thing if you are so inclined.

    I recently got into hydroponics.
    Using masterblend for nutrients.
I thought to use it as a leaf spray.
So i applied it in the morning.
They soaked up the nutrients fairly quickly.
The yellowing leaves began turning green in no time.
    Very great stuff 🙃

I foliar feed yucca, fresh aerated compost tea, great white, orca and photosynthesis plus.
Sometimes if I can afford it, I even combine all the above in my compost tea and use that as well.

Foliar sprays need ionic solutions in order to absorb decent amounts of any element.... Think Magnesium Sulphate, Calcium Nitrate etc.
Organic compounds need to lose their carbon in the soil before entering the plant efficiency.

    Hello Jeff,
we got a plot in a community garden and everything seemed to be ok but now the leafs of the beans, peppers, etc. are turning yellow, the green onion had some kind of worms inside, the tomatoes don't keep growing and somebody said that the people who used this plot last year didn't get veggies from this plot. I am thinking that the soil has some larvae and now the worms/maggots are attacking the plants. Do you have any idea what could it be and how to get rid of this infection?
    Thank you.

    • @executivegardener
      @executivegardener  8 лет назад

The most important thing for you to do with the plot is to build the soil. I would recommend replacing the soil, or amending the soil, with a ton of organic matter and compost. If you build healthy soil, with lots of nutrients, your plants will grow very healthy. I would check on your garden regularly and watch for pests and they can be treated with a variety of organic treatments.

blue flame try running the solution through a cloth or coffee filter to remove undissolved solids, put these solids on the soil as top dressing. also use some surfactant to aid uptake into leaf tissue, due to the surface tension of water it will run off the leaf before doing any good, a surfactant massively increases uptake by increasing surface area contact and duration by reducing drop off/ run off. (a minute amount of liquid detergent, enough to create a light foam when shaken.

Thanks Jeff, I like to use Epson Salt and foliar feed my tomatoes and grape Vines. But I'm going to get online and look for Sea Tea. Happy Gardening this season!
