  • In this video Tracy answers some questions regarding a person found month after death, how they are removed from the scene, where they are taken and what is left behind. It's a very sad sitauation but one that happens from time to time. Thankfully, there are professionals on hand to remove the person and clean up afterwards.

    My dad and his wife were in a residential care facility where every morning they had to hang a sign out that said, "We are fine," or something like that. If the sign wasn't up they would get a wellness check. I thought that was brilliant. Sure enough their neighbor passed and the sign wasn't there and the management got right in. We need to take better care of each other. I just love you ladies.

    I've worked as a forensic photographer back 20+ years ago and seen many things.
    2 things that this career has given me is an appreciation of life, right down to the smallest attributes. And no matter how, when and where we go, we all must go. Our bodies are our vessel in this life only and it is made of blood, flesh and bone just like every other living creature. So please don't worry to much about death or what happens after. Live for now. ❤

    Hello sweethearts !! I had been involved with several decedent's that were found dead for one month up to three months. One cannot describe what bodied that death was that length of time AND the weather/temperature at the time of death. The sights and smells are indescribable. People are curious and that is normal. People are fortunate if they never see or smell such things. As usual, this video was great. You have a wonderful as to how you explain these things. It shows the compassion and kindness that you possess. Take care and God bless.

    At work, they do final checks before a coffin goes for cremation or burial. The coffin is opened by the funeral director and an assistant to have one last check that it is in-fact the correct person and that the ID tags match the name on the coffin. I witnessed a gentleman who was exactly as you described. Deceased for a month, no embalming - liquid in the coffin, the yellow staining you mentioned.

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  2 года назад +4

      Hi Kayleigh, yes it's the same in most funeral homes or at least it should be, were many checks are done by staff members to make sure we have the correct person in the correct coffin for the correct service. Thank you for your comments 😊 take care 💚💚

    My brother was released from jail October 10th and never called anybody the next day and was reported missing soon after. He was older 49. In bad health. He was homeless. He asked me to pick him up from jail that night but I refused. 2 months later December 10th his body was found so I’m certain he died the same night he got out. He was found in a wooded area not far from where his last known location. Still waiting on autopsy and toxicology reports. I can’t stand the fact that if I’d been there for him that night and picked him up he could still be alive or at least not died alone in the woods by himself. I will never forgive myself no matter how many people tell me it’s not my fault. But I’ve been searching trying to find out what he may have looked like after 2 months in the woods. I shouldn’t but I want to know. I thought of asking the coroner for the pictures but idk if I need to see it with my mental state right now. I want to see what a person might look like after that long but not really see my brother in that state If that makes any sense.

    My aunt had become a recluse and had had no relationship with my mother and my uncle. A neighbor called my uncle and let him know mail was piling up at my aunt’s house and they had not seen my aunt in weeks. The police were called to do a welfare check. They broke down the door and found my aunt dead in the bedroom. She was so badly decomposed that the funeral home told my mother and uncle that the smell was so bad they couldn’t bring her into the funeral home. They cremated her remains. It was so sad.

    We had a tenant in Japan who was about 40 years old that deceased in his unit. He was deceased about 6 weeks before being found. He kept paying his rent with direct deposit. The neighbor above complained about the smell, and the agency came around to be greeted with flies., so they called the police. It was summer and the unit was double glazed.The agency sent us photos of the body stain, and he had seeped through his bedding, flooring down to the subfloor. Cost a fortune as the unit needed a complete refurb. We had to go back over to inspect the unit before signing off on the refurb; really creepy. Due to Japanese law the new tenant needed to be told why the previous tenant left, so couldn’t get a tenant for ages. Police could not determine cause of death and put it down to natural causes although suicide is common in Japan. Really sad as we used to wave to him and say hi.

    Same thing happened to my aunt, Dad’s sister, quite a few years ago. Found on Christmas Day. When she didn’t open the door to my Dad, we rang police who then found her, deceased, probably for a few days. Police were wonderful and so was the man from the coroner’s who came to collect her. We were so grateful A sad Christmas Day.

    Thank you beautiful ladies for your content. I'm from US and I found my grandmother deceased in her home. She was found halfway in the hallway and bathroom. She was there about 2.5 weeks and it was in the summer no air conditioning many flies. She never wanted company or even neighbors checking on her. She was pretty much liquid jaw bone showing the funeral home asked if he can use a shovel to help get her in a bag because such the condition she was in. The smell reminded me of rotten fruit and also annoying like it wouldn't leave. But I made a concoction to rid the stains and smell from her closet being all the liquid drain into her walk in closet. What I did I poured baking soda all over it, I laid wash clothes on the baking soda poured peroxide on the clothes and covered every space with trash bags and weighted items. Took the smell right out.

    I've read many comments which answered the questions about what a dead human body smelled like. From what I understand it's a very distinctive smell and a very bad one as well. When I found a dead large chimpmunk at work in a trash can I thought I was going to throw up. The smell was absolutely horrid. It was a sickly sweet smell and was very strong. I never smelled anything like it. I thought that perhaps this was similar to the smell of a human body which was deceased.

    The youtube channel Crime Scene Cleaning covers this topic very well the body literally turns to fats and liquids and gets absorbed into the floor or into the bed or sofa or under the wall or under the tiles and beyond meaning they have to cut out and treat the contaminated areas as any remaining fluid trapped underneath will continue to stink.

    I have another question thanks for doing a video on the last one :) Sorry if it sounds a bit nuts, but at 5.50 there is like a toilet inside the mortuary. Is it a toilet cistern on the wall? Is it for convenience in case someone feels sick or something I'm just wondering what a toilet is doing there? I mean it's not very private if Tracey needs to use it, but I guess if the doors are locked maybe that's okay.

    Can you explain what would happen if someone would pass away from a drowning? My friend passed away recently from a sudden kayak drowning and his body wasn't found till days later. Went missing on a Saturday and was found on the Monday. Because he was in water for so long, what would happen to the body? And does that affect the family's decision in the funeral planning? Cremation instead of embalming?

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  Год назад +5

      Hi Meagan, We have done videos on this before. The body could be in advance stages of decomposition after a few days in water, skin slip would be happening meaning the top layers of skin will be pealing away a bit like really bad sunburn. The skin underneath would be wet and slippery this is hard to cosmitise over. You could embalm the body this will help dry out the skin. Sometimes if water is really cold it may even preserve the body a little so might not have advanced stages of decomposition. It is hard for me to say exactly what state the deceased was in at the time as a lot of factors need to be taken into account. That's a very sad story and we are sorry to hear this news, we hope the family are doing ok sending our deepest condolences to them 😔 thank you for your question I hope that helps a little, take care 💚💚

    I told you a few weeks ago about a body being recovered from an apartment block across from mine.
    2 CID 4 Uniform police, a scenes of crime ofgicer there for a couple of hours before the police contract funeral directors came to remove the body.It looked quite dramatic! I think its standard practice that if a death is unexpected there's an investigation involving police and coroner.
    Turns out it was a natural death.
    Quite sad the person had nobody visiting. Neighbours alerted police to the smell.
    I have family and friends who I speak to regularly and I see and hear my neighbours regularly. Tell them when I'm working away or going home to North Yorks they keep an eye on the apartment.
    I doubt I'd be left to devompose.
    Sad story must have been awful for his brother!

    Hi Tracy, This maybe going off tràck abit. My mother passed away two months and she had cancer which she was going through chemo therapy. Which was very sad and still coming to terms with her gone.
    My question is that, at the viewing my mother was heavily perfumed and I found this it quite confronting. Just wondering why would that be.Is this is because of the Chemo medication, maybe? As my sister and I were wondering.Queensland, 🇦🇺

      Hi Susan, so very sorry to hear you have lost you mother, please accept our deepest condolences to you and your family 🙏 it is a tough journey we travel when we lose our mum's 💚
      Not to sure but some mortician can sometimes get carried away with spraying a lot of perfume for no reason but just to make the person smell nice, then over do it. Because normally after a prep to clear any bad smells if they was any and the body is washed and cleaned there is not normal a smell, even with people that have had chemo treatment. Sorry your experience that, please remember to keep talking and sharing your struggles with either family, friends or professional counselor, believe me it will help. Please take good care sending hugs your way 💚💚

      It's a process of embalming and massage to move fluid (oedema) out of the body. 😊💚

    This happened to my dad also but thankfully he was only alone for a few days before he was found. He was travelling around Australia after recently retiring and had a massive heart attack and when he was found he was face down in a crouching position as he had fallen of his chair in his caravan! All his blood had pooled to his face and head but the funeral home did a remarkable job of making him as presentable as they could so we were able to have one last visit with him the night before his funeral. It was him but you could tell that they had "patched" him up with makeup and other tricks so we could say our goodbyes. By the time we had the viewing it was almost 2 weeks post death as he died in remote Southwest Queensland right near the corner of the borders to NSW and NT, so it took an extra-long time recover his remains and do what the coroner needed to do and then have him returned home to us in NSW.

    I'm so sorry to say this and I mean no disrespect nor am I trying to make light of the situation but I've got to say that I've had a really good laugh... I am dyslexic and try as I might I couldn't read anything other than "Deceased OF the Month" instead of "deceased FOR a month" and I was watching this video wondering how one joins that club... I'd heard of "employee of the month" but I couldn't figure out what one had to do to become the "Deceased of the Month".... turns out it was just my eyes that couldn't figure it out. LOL!

    Hi ladies, Hope you are doing well! Tacy how have you coped with seeing bodies in these late decomposed states? I see some really "tough" pictures in my embalming book, and even though I can handle it, it is still unsettling to see. does it ever get easier with time in the field? or were there certain coping mechanisms you used? Thanks again!

      Hi Samantha, we are both well thank you. It does get a little easier over time but somedays I need to walk away for 5/10 minutes to compose myself and prepare mentally when it's extreme. I always remind myself too, why I am I doing this job why do I put myself through such horror somedays and the answer is because theses people can no longer help themselves nor can the family help, I need to make this traumatic journey a little easier for the family and someone has to care and be able to look after that person. Always talk to other work colleagues and seek help if you need it never bottle anything up are you will never cope with seeing such things. I hope that helps you 🌹 take care 😘💚💚

    If a person is found in that shape is there bio hazard people in Australia that come clean properties and cars and cut up and remover walls and floors near and where the body was found.
    Like is America
    There is a RUclips channel Crime Scene Cleaning that was pretty interesting I would also watch.

    evening ladies it's still hot here in the UK 🇬🇧 and I'm melting also what happens if someone dies in the hot weather what will happen

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  2 года назад +1

      Hi Natalie, stay hydrated during the heat wave in Europe especially the UK we are just not used to it.
      Well it depends if the person died at home and not found the heat will accelerate the decomposition. But if died in a hospital or nursing home the body will be transfered to a mortuary for cold storage so nothing unusual they.
      Thanks for your question take care 😊💚

    My sons father died suddenly 10 mths ago..5 days post we were still able to have open casket without embalming...cremation..I took lot pics for my son, and just looked at a few recently..I noticed all around his head..now didnt notice nor even look then..think we were just to much in shock and I know they did have plastic undergarmets...but in pics side I could see was serosangious type drainage from his head. His shoulder area.....Nothing hands, but notice 1 finger had become to decompose...but ironically there was no odor, so were the products that good? Or he was maintaining well? The seepage through skin pores, was that a purge then, decomp? I a nurse so have always been around dead bodies....
    I will say, have many relatives pass...and only 1 was sudden..and been on the other side a million times..but nothing prepares for the....news

      Hi, it was I think oedema. Fluids building up under the skin, natural start to the body breaking down then seeping from the poured of the skin until the pressure gets too much then we go into skin slip where the skin splits open from the building up of fluid. The coffin or casket would most likely have absorbed autopsy power sprinkled under the body this absorbs any odour. Hope that helps. You take good care ❤️❤️

    Just out of curiosity approximately how "fresh" are the bodies you receive to embalm or in other words on average how long after a person dies do you receive that body to embalm?

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  3 месяца назад +1

      Average usually 2 or 3 days.

    • @geriannroth449
      @geriannroth449 3 месяца назад

      Oh you've got it easy. We receive our bodies on average 2 - 6 weeks on average after death. So bodies of this nature for us over here generally speaking presents problems for embalming if we can embalm at all😮😮😢.

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow

      Hi, embalming is one. But there are many other factors such as temperature, where the body is cause of death the list goes on. Some many factors play a part. 💚💚
