My brother was in wheelchair for years before he died. It would have been so wonderful to see him standing with his guitar.
That would be cool!
listen, we need major transformation s in embalming..we need more "extreme" embalming
let's make this happen...
Holy crap. I bet she jumped for joy because it went off so seamlessly. Good for her.
Thanks!
Looking back at this whole interview, and how close Luann was to the deceased I am so touched she made this happen, when I was in this career I gave it my all and I can see her passion and Kari's as well and I love to see that. 💓
Thank you
@@KaritheMortician You are very welcome.
What a good and informative interview. Luann is certainly passionate and very giving about her services and career. Her presentation is very respectful and positive given the fact that many of us simply do not understand what needs to, and/or, can happen once we expire. Preparing the deceased is another form of art, imo. And wow, how she mastered this man’s final requests. Artist. An artist.
I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and perspective, thank you.
Can’t wait, although I have seen this done, it is amazing and I image a lot more work. The man on the motorcycle was put in huge grave because he was enclosed in plexiglass . I don’t know if you noticed but you and Josh have a lot of the same mannerisms. LOL
(Not all but some) especially the smile, both of you smile with your eyes especially when you are googling eyed LOL thanks for both
Of you being who you are, real..🌹❤ all the best..
Yes, that is rare to bury in the position
Wow, what a great video with Luane of Covenant funeral home. That was absolutely amazing what she was able to accomplish the the famous Drummer that passed away. Thanks for sharing this video.
Thanks!
Extraordinary! She has the skills of ancient Egyptian embalmers.
Excellent topic! This is definitely something that not everyone would want or enjoy, but the ones I've seen pictures of are absolutely amazing and I'm sure that for people, it was exactly what they wanted.
Well said!
Too much like taxidermy
What a great episode Kari! So interesting.
Thanks you also for sharing your story Luann! I’m from Toronto also!
Thank you
I'm from Winnipeg but I don't think there is anyone here who does extreme embalming. It wouldn't work for me since I plan to be cremated.
I’ve seen so many pics of this- it’s so cool to actually hear from the person who did it!! I was thinking “hmm well hypothetically how would I want to be posed” and then I realized my favorite thing is sleeping so I think the traditional way would be fine 😂😂 but put me in some nice pajamas!!! Haha!
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this.
I loved this video! I didn’t know about extreme embalming. It was so neat and I learned so much! As always Kari, thank you so much.
You are very welcome. Thanks for watching.
What an amazing interview. I love it. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Kari. Your channel has become one of my favorites. I like the way you find answers for our questions and your topics are interesting.
Amazing interview. Thank you both for sharing.
Thank you
Geez! She looks 25!
Luann? yes she does!!
Black don't Crack. LOL. I'm 45 and look like I'm in my 20s. I have not changed much since high school.
Grandmother aka 'Nanny" to 5 plus 1 on the way !!! Thank You 🙂
Super awesome vlog ❤️ Kari I loved it ❤️ thanks so much
You are so welcome!
What a very cool and fascinating story!! Great interview 👍
Thank you
This should be an educational and interesting one. 😺
Can't wait!
Great video and interview!!! You are both such inspirations and hearing how passionate Luanne is makes me so grateful to be starting my schooling path towards being a funeral director here in Ottawa, Ontario. Only a few hours from Toronto!!! Taking the funeral preplanner then transfer service rep then funeral director embalming :) so excited :)
thank you!!
I'm excited to finally catch you live!
Yeah!
Amazing. So much love and Respect for her
Thank you!
Great video. Thanks Kari.
Thank you
What a Grand Way to send a Loved One on....! Yes, it is a bit unsettling initially, but for those who want to go out with flair, here it is....The woman is an Artist and a Conveyor
Of Last Wishes.
Thank you
What an interesting vid. The lady from Covenant.. what a hard deal for her given that she knew him. Her professionalism is outstanding. A+. Also an interesting choice for viewing. Eyes open. Great vid, I'm in awe of the ppl that are able to do this, thanks for giving us an insight into this Kari
Thank you!
@@KaritheMortician You're welcome. Enjoying your vids & info.
This was very interesting!! What a talented lady.
Thank you very much.
I ❤ your videos and how informative they are… Thank you
Glad you like them!
Amazing ; I have seen videos of people , in Puerto Rico fixed like this . I don't want it for myself but it is amazing.
Thanks
This is so unique. You are a very talented lady to do this.
Thanks
This was amazing.
Thanks
Hi Kari and thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome!
I am so freaking excited for this! lol
:)
I want to think you for answering my questions today I lost my mother in law I had her for 45yrs now she is in a better place I love your site chatting with you and your new boyfriend keep the great show coming chat later love you very much as a friend Lynall r wimer
Big hugs!
What better place is she in?…..she’s dead…she’s not anywhere
Thinking about you and your family. 🙏
I'm so sorry for your loss 🙏 my dear Mum in law is 95 and I don't even want to think of that time as mine is also a mother to me and matriarch of the sweetest kind. I imagine you had a special bond also 😪
God bless you 🙏🇭🇲
I don’t know how they can do this But God puts people out they for different things
So ya’ll are looking at folks not only as they look, but how they lived. Bringing it to a new level.
agreed
This is so great, love it, a whole new way.
Exactly!
I've decided to take my pet's to a Taxidermist after this video. ❤ 😍 Thank you so much for posting Kari. I understand that this funeral home is located in Canada.
I'm fascinated. Embalming fluid is a fixative. With that said, I'm surprised the decedent could be manipulated & positioned in a sitting pose using a high index solution. I believe there will be a market for this skill & this practice may become more common with time for a select few. Good job!!
Talking today with some staff we thought about how if you move an arm and use a little weight you can have that arm in any position so it takes time and placement and positioners and the body will stay when you think about it
I can’t see my mom wanting this type of embalming but it would be cool to see her playing mahjong.
Yes!
Wow the skills she has, agreed she does look young & beautiful
Thanks
I noticed that one lady from New Orleans (sitting at the table) was featured, but I'm sorry that "Uncle" Lionel Baptiste was not. He died a few years ago, and was standing up at his visitation, as he requested. We also had a socialite here who made headlines across the world. She was seated on a garden bench, holding a glass of champagne, wearing a feather boa, and one of her fabulous hats! I was invited to the viewing and it was unforgettable, to say the least! Btw, Galatoire's catered it.
I just selected a few pics and not all of them
@@KaritheMortician No worries, Kari! I just thought that I'd mention those two, as well. 🙂
The first time I had ever seen anything on this topic was quite a few years ago on "My Name is Earl" TV series.
I am not sure of the season or episode number but John Waters played the part of an extreme embalmer. It was a delightfully interesting, funny, yet sad show.
I never saw that episode
@@KaritheMortician you need to find it! It was about giving a proper funeral to the guy that Joy kidnapped in the truck. The first funeral they had for went all wrong. Because of that Earl felt they needed to give him an appropriate funeral.
They also find out that the fellow wasn't a very lonely person but had friends on the internet from all over the World.
There is a very touching ending to it but a sad commentary on today's society too.
Well worth watching the episode!
I believe it was Season 2 Episode 14.
Very fascinating!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Natalie.
That's amazing🥰
Thank you! 😊
Great Job
thank you
Cool video Kari..
Thanks!
very creepy BUT very interesting great interview the embalmer knew her stuff
Thanks
Kari, I have a question for you. If somebody wanted you to do an extreme embalming on them, would you do it? I do believe the 1st "extreme embalming" happened with the actor, John Barrymore in 1942. He was propped up, sitting with a drink in his hand. He wanted "One for the road." His friend, fellow actor, Errol Flynn was shocked and mortified to say the least.
Yes I would
That was done to his un embalmed body when his friends bribed someone at the funeral home. They drove away with it and sat it up as best they could in the living room of Errol Flynn, with whom the actor had been living the past several months.
@@davidson-mielellc980 Ok. I was mistaken about John Barrymore's being embalmed . It's still EXTREME. His friends went to EXTREMES to play a prank on Errol Flynn . You would have to agree on that. I haven't heard of any other story like that. So, I will say, it was still an EXTREME VIEWING that John Barrymore's was un embalmed and still propped up however "THEY" did it.
We Canadians are unique!!! Great interview Kari!
Thank you!
Hey 🇨🇦….. love it!
Thanks!
That is crazy but so cool!!!!
Thanks
Thanks for sharing Kari I loved it
Thanks
Awesome Interview
Thanks
If this man breaks out with "wipe out" on the drums I'm out.
😂😂😂😂
lol
Lmao
This lady is an artist! I have seen a dead person with their eyes open. Their eyes were cloudy like the walking dead zombies. How did she deal with that?
Slow and steady I am guessing......high index.......slowly manipulating and even wrapping extremities to prevent swelling.........I think she was one very blessed person this went so swimmingly
yes agreed
👍💯 thank you for answering my question on your live a few weeks ago on why does the bottom of the jaw fall off the skull like a Lego! On a decomposed animal. Yeah I watched my my dead shepherd decompose up in my woods. And her jaw fell off when I took her skull, I was like wtf!!!?
You are welcome, Richard. Thanks for following.
she did an amazing job..
She did!
I love this channel
thank you!!
It was good that she bonded with the decedent before he died. This may seem a bit mystical, but it could have worked out so well because the decedent was in agreement with what was decided upon before death. I've embalmed cases that was smiling then we looked again and the case was frowning. It was weird and couldn't be explained. Maybe they didn't want to be embalmed?
Amazing how they can do all that now. 🙌🏾👏🏾💯
indeed!
WOW! JUST WOW!
:)
Amazing..
Oh my word! This is too much like the Twilight Zone episode of the asteroid cemetery! Well to each their own I guess! 😀
Thanks
Very Interesting!
I think so too!
Embalmer in Vancouver here. I can see how this would almost require a very unique/close relationship with the family - doing this based on a verbal "I trust you" strikes me as very risky from a don't-sue-me POV. Similarly, I can only assume she's got all the requisite family permissions to disclose the amount of detail about the person she has here. All that said, I don't think people should shy away from this sort of thing but absolutely go in with the family knowing what they're looking for then confirming, and reconfirming exactly what they want.
I would agree
Hi Kari, I'm curious about the exposure to toxic chemicals while working in a funeral home. Are there any studies that show any statistics ? Thank you
There are not any broad studies. There is one new study out that only checked 15 selected funeral homes and doesn't provide a real like insight
Formaldehyde has been tested and is a greatly dangerous carcinogen
Wow!
:)
It looks beautiful
Thank you
What a beautiful idea! Is this technique done in the U.S.?
Not really
Very interesting to say the least!
I think so too!
I can't even begin to comprehend as to why people make such a huge fuss when a person conks. I have lost loved ones and yes I can understand how sad it is. However instead of spending all this money on lead coffins, expensive funerals, embalming and all the shit, why not just use a cheap wood coffin and bury or cremate the body? Why can't families use that money to help some charity where sick kids can benefit? I mean just look at the fuss the Royal family and the UK made when the Queen kicked the bucket? What a load of rubbish. Why couldn't the Royals use that money they spent on the Queen to help the poor Brits who sleep in those underground stations?
So True
How about just leave people be to do as they want to.
I appreciate you sharing your perspective. It clearly comes down to each families wishes.
I’m still fascinated how it takes three days on a table. Is it because she used different fluids or does she redo it several times?
She just let him set to get firmed up and but she meant sit as in actually sitting
This is really fascinating! I couldn’t put my family to that expense plus I want to be cremated. I know it varies from place to place but how much would this be, in your part of Michigan?
I would have to come up with a number
Extreme embalming? Humm...🤔 Maybe we can call this service creative embalming? Maybe creative presentation? I'm not a super sensitive, politically correct person. I just thought, this service should have a more easy going sounding name. Just a thought...🤔 Take care Kari, and excellent video as always! 🤗👍
Good alternatives
Im surprised they did not use a medium index fluid with intermittent drainage and a 5-10 PPP setting for injection, as to not have the body too firm 🤔
It is interesting
Is being a funeral director on the same career path as like, a medical doctor? I just would like to know about anatomy and what not!??!
I love your channel 🧡💙🧡
NO. YOU CAN RESEARCH. YOU CAN GO TO FUNERAL DIRECTOR SCHOOL. AN EMBALMER CAN BE A SEPARATE ENTITY THAN THE FUNERAL DIRECTOR. OR YOU CAN DO BOTH JOBS. SOME DIRECTORS DO NOT ENJOY EMBALMING SO THERE ARE FREELANCE EMBALMERS. SEE RUclips VIDEOS. THEY WORK FOR DIFFERENT FUNERAL HOMES JUST EMBALMING/MAKE UP, DRESSING, ETC. THIS CHANNEL IS ALSO INFORMATIVE, SEE HER VIDEOS
Sort of but a shorter path
I hope her movie will be on Netflix
:)
Just wow
Thanks for watching.
Kari just couldnt believe in good karma? Lol just couldn’t believe there was NO DUCK TAPE …he musta been a really good person with a beautiful spirit & soul
This funeral home is in my area. Proud Canadian here!!
Yeah!
Wow she loves her perfession
Yes she does!
scary but fabulous. I just picture someone that wouldn't know they are dead and they for a request song or something and they excuse me sir did you heard me I would like you to play this song. I don't know, anyways she is awesome.
:)
Brilliant but scary interesting.
I love this concept, but how do you undo the effects of rigor mortis? If you pose a body sitting up how can you go through a viewing and then make them lie flat in a casket? In scientific terms I can't envision that without an outside force that is applied??? Am I wrong?? Or do you inject more chemicals to make the body pliable???
Rigor mortis is not an issue with this at all or any other embalming situations.
Gravity is the answer.
Extremely Disturbing! That scares me in the worst way!
How so?
Why?
💐
:)
Extreme Embalming....I'd watch that show! Hey TLC, get on it!
What was the cost?
❤
:)
even w/out make-up,your beautiful! take care of yourself, daaaaling 😊
Thanks
Kari thank u for this. I luv it. I wish I could ride a horse when I die. T
Hats been my whole life. Wouldn't that b a challenge????
Carousel Horse???
Real 🐴🐎 horse. A very calm gentle horse.
Hi, Kari. As a mortician, which would you personally prefer when your time comes:
1. Be embalmed for viewing, then buried.
2. Embalmed for viewing, then cremated.
3. Cremated immediately without viewing.
4. Green burial.
5. Others.
6. Whatever family wishes/Don’t care.
Thanks!
I want to be displayed in a cab off of a Semi truck tractor with one hand on the steering wheel the other hand on the gear Shift a day cab no sleeper with both doors open so people can see me from both sides maybe have this thing mounted on a revolving turn table with those velvet common feeder line ropes surrounding the ensemble like they have in the bank lobby and all the truck sounds broadcasted in over speakers
That would be cool!
Thank You this may not be a reality for me someday because of cost this is a conversation that I will have to Persue with The Healy family of professionals of Healy chapel Aurora Illinois
lol. You jinn. mmmmm mmmmm m
Mm like
Very Doable! I've already envisioned it!!!
@@covenantfuneralhomesinc.1251 ok cool thanks for commenting when my time is up I will be useing the Healy chaple Aurora Illinois
Yay Canada! 🇨🇦
There is a fine line between Extreme embalming and tampering with a corpse. 😂
Sort of
I wonder how they bury them?
Extremely deep. 😂
In a casket laying down
@@KaritheMortician How? They have been posed to sit down.
@@susanwaltman2607 I’m curious too. It seems like so much was missing from the process. Without mussels how does he sit up and then lay down with no force? I assume it was pretty graphic to force body to lay flat again.
Good stuff
Thanks
@@KaritheMortician you are welcome...hope all is well for you😄
What about the girl that had tik tok, (Im not on it) worked with her dad...has she done anything like this
No she has not
There is an undertaker in Puerto Rico that does this. They had one guy on a motor cycle about 10 years ago
Several do down there
@@KaritheMortician Kari. My grandfather was in the undertaker business and my cousin was a funeral director, he trained in NYC where we lived. That school would the cadavers from the Morgue there. He is 80 now, I told him about you, that he had to watch your videos. I don't know if he did yet 😊😊😊
Mine would be - holding a fishing rod with a huge catfish (20 lbs at least) LOL. But I will probably choose Creamation. So I could be a tree or something.
Awesome!
Wow she’s been in the business for 25 years 😮 she looks like a young kid😊
My question is,how do you get them in a casket after the calling hours? Aren’t they a bit stiff? A 3 day process?!? Wow! 😮 Did he want to or request to be displayed this way? I don’t think Her Majesty was embalmed. I’m sure she was dressed in one of her beautiful colourful dresses. Her jewelry was her wedding ring and simple pearl earrings
Yes!
