Full installation of the RC BOAT BITZ BLACKJACK 42 trim tans hope this helps with your build.
Thanks for watching IRONCLAD RC TINKER TEST AND TUNE EVERYTHING Personal contact information ironcladedout@gmail.com
Glad to see you recommended to loctite all those bolts, best tip ever!
I almost forgot to lock-tite them myself! They worked out really well on the 42 possibly the best upgrade I've done to the 42
Rc boat blitz has a lot of great upgrades and tons of parts . Saved my ass so many times and reasonable prices to. Even bought a self righting pursuit from him and used his trim tabs . Great boat.
Awesome upgrades. Nice job on the install.
Nice installation Big B, love the precision and care you took to get it just right.
I also installed TTs on my Blackjack hull. Made a BIG difference. I don't think I've flipped her since they were installed 😉
I'll email a pic to you bro 👍👍
I saw the pics in the email, I was hesitant to install the trim tans but your right it's gonna keep the bow down. Great upgrade
Forget the pic lets see a video with them running?
The thing is,,this is not a full scale Cat, so it needs trim tabs. It's a accurate-ish model. Even the guys that race the full scale boats do whatever it takes to make it work. No guilt whatsoever fixing a model boat to stay put on the water, at FULL TRIGGER. One thing I found that never gets mentioned, was that the set screws for the hinge pin were tight on one, and almost falling out of the other. Make sure to set and loctite those hinge pin set screws evenly, or you risk pushing the pin outside of the hinge point and bending crap to no repair. Joe at Rc Boat Bitz says to make sure the trim tabs are about a millimeter below the sponson surface when installing, so it can be adjusted to clear the water completely if needed. That's how i did mine, with a slight oversize to the transom mounting holes, for more adjustment if needed.
Yes sir I agree 100% best upgrade for my 42. Yes use loc-tight that's a must
I've found 4 mm higher than the ridsurface works best. I tried in line, then 2mm higher Now I run 4mm higher than the ride surface.... the extra height acts as a break/step. BOSSSSSSSSSS
@@IRONCLADRCdo you still recommend even with the sponson I picked up a set for my 42” I thought I’d seen a later video where you lowered them to make a final step down?
@chuchcbr1000 I actually raised them, about 3-4mm higher than the back of the sponson.
@@IRONCLADRC I’m confused as to what you mean? I am speaking in terms of where to mount them as far as flush then you’re extending them or what?
"I don't normally put trim tabs on a cat" I wonder if trim tabs also work much like wheelie bars do on a dragster. You know, most of the time they are not even in the water until,... the nose comes up. Hmm. :)
Yes just like wheelie bars....lol
That's an excellent example 😅🤣
U explained that perfectly
Interested in the prop trays !! Those are sweet !
Custom made email Rob he may be able to hook you up rwarden@gmail.com
It works pretty well don’t it lol😏 for my 24 it hooks the corners like a dream
Hopefully I can run the 42 this week. Haven't had a chance to take her out
@@IRONCLADRC oh nice u will see what I’m saying
Question, how would you manage any of these boats in saltwater, just rinse the whole thing down inside and out and push water through the intakes?
Pretty much yes sir
Did you have to remove the webbing inside ? Or drilled through both
Drilled through it
@@IRONCLADRC Thank you !
God that's nice😀👍👍
Hey man just ordered these for my black jack 42 , can you comment a link for your marine loctite clear adhesive sealant. I can only find it in white
The clear stuff is silicone, all I can find is white loc-tite
@@IRONCLADRC thanks for the reply man! Also another question what temp gun do you use for temp checks? I’m looking on Amazon and they all say for food wasn’t sure if that’s what you used
HELLO ... What type of coating or Decal did use on the bottom of you BlackJaC42
I have a few 6mm, 9mm and 11mm. The 9mm is my favorite
@@IRONCLADRC can you give some more details about what you talking about. I thought it was a Decal or vinyl sticker on the bottom of your boats
It's not I blueprinted the bottom of this boat.
Hello.. why don't you a outside water pick line like you did on the BlkJck 24
Personally I think it's unnecessary, the 42 picks up alot of water thru the rudder pickup
Is there a way to Email you. The one here doesn't work. I have a few questions.
I have a new BlkJck42. Haven't taken it apart yet or put it in the water.
I did turned it on to bind it to radio. Spun it up 3 times 10second each. The strut got very warm/hot to the touch and is making a rattling sound.@@IRONCLADRC
how to do get bushing out@@IRONCLADRC
You are right.. it does pick up a lot of water thank you for all the tips. Do you have a active email ?@@IRONCLADRC
Hi. Did you use silicone sealant of any kind between the trim tabs and the hull? If you didn't, it will leak inside the hull.
I used loctite marine adhesive for the thru hull
Did you paint the bottom of your boat red or what is that
Basically, yes sir. Airbrushed it then laid down several coats of clear then sanded & blueprint it
Hey man just installed these on my boat, I followed the video from the website I bought them from and didn’t mount them flush with bottom of boat, guy that designed and got them made said mount them as tight as you can to top of boat, do you think this will cause any problems having that small gap between tab and bottom of boat?
Nope, you made the right decision. I mounted mine 6-8mm higher than the ride surface. Hit 106 mph when I made that change
@@IRONCLADRC hey man want your opinion with the black jack 42 , I have the dasboata prop on it which he stated was his fastest prop for the boat, I have the RC Boat Bitz trim tabs and running power hobby 6000mah 100c and power hobby 7200mah 70c and can’t get it over 60mph and when I hit that high 50/60 mph it blows over I can’t keep it grounded
Where did you find them in stock? seem to be out of stock everywhere.
How well did those trim tabs run? I made a very small tab out of angle aluminum and it definitely helped, but I’m still flipping at high speeds. However the guys I’ve seen run these bigger tabs were having heat issues as the boat wouldn’t plane out as easy. Curious to hear how these work. Great video.
I haven't had a chance to run the boat I should have it on the water this week
Have you considered trying these trim tabs on the sonicwake?
I believe there a little to big for the sonicwake.
Hello
Can You have a lien for This parts please?
Thank You!
Couldn't find the link
Hello IronClad Rc is it possible to do a future review of the newer version 2 from Proboat , the dual catamaran Miss Geico36"v2.....
I'd like to say yes, but not sure at the moment
One can tell by the twang
Sweet! You got any Pro Marine hulls?
Wish I did, there beautiful boats
I could use a couple of those hook me up buddy
What size drill bit are you using when installing these trim tabs brother?
I don't remember right off hand. Sorry brother. I will look when I get home and let you know
I think it was 9/64 drill bit. 🤔 fairly certain
@@IRONCLADRC Thanks, Installing tonight~
Where did you find that I need that for my 17 deep V
Can you do a test run next video?
Yes sir video will be out Wednesday
Big B, what's up , just watched the trimtap video can you send me the info on how to obtain the Rc boat bitz trim tabs went on the internet and couldn't find them I would a p appreciate it if you could do that thank you in advance.
I couldn't find them either. Wonder if there out of stock? Idk
