  • Van life travel Turkey - Join us as we live full time van life and travel around Turkey in our campervan Kev.
In this weeks travel vlog, we continue our journey through the amazing Turkey, we visit the picturesque lake Abant as well as finding more awesome park ups including caves and waterfalls.
We also have a meal at a restaurant with a twist...
    About us...
Join us on our journey as we continue full time van life travelling around Europe in our self build / self converted Mercedes sprinter conversion camper van.
We are a family of 4 plus a German shepherd Dog and a rabbit that have left the UK to tour / travel Europe and beyond.
In December 2021 we got a 1 way ferry ticket across to Calais and darted through France straight to sunny Barcelona. We then worked our way around the Spanish coast including Gibraltar then into Portugal. We had hoped to get the ferry to Morocco to escape the Schengen zone but due to the ferry boarders staying closed to Spanish ferries, we decided to take the huge road trip to the first non Schengen country which was Croatia!
Along the way we visited Andorra, Monaco, Italy and Slovenia.
We stayed in Croatia for nearly 6 weeks before moving on to Montenegro for a week, then one of our favourite countries, Albania for 5 weeks.
We then took Kev on the ferry from Albania to Corfu to meet up with Lauras family for a week. We ended up staying in Corfu for 2 weeks but although its a fantastic holiday destination, we found it really hard for Van life. Being a small island it was very touristy and busy and there isn't many good park ups so we decided to hop back on the ferry and head to mainland Greece.
We spent a fantastic 2 weeks in Greece but by this point the weather was really starting to heat up and the temperature was reaching 40c which really isn't the one when living in a van...
We checked the weather for Bulgaria and it was a lot cooler so that was our next destination. Ritchies family flew out to see us and we spent a great 2 weeks with them. In total we stayed in Bulgaria for over 3 weeks but there was always 1 country on our mind and that's where we are now... The amazing Turkey!
We will be uploading videos weekly so please like and subscribe to help our channel grow.
We are new to blogging, filming and editing, already we have learned a lot from the first few edits and have realised what mistakes have been made so we can improve each week.
    Keep up to date

Hello, Turks love the treats, no matter who they are, and they do it without expecting anything in return. This is Turkish hospitality. So you don't have to do anything either :)

I think it's lovely how you go on about Turkish hospitality...the same thing comes up over and over on lots of vlogs about this country. I also like to watch Atik Ailesi - they are a Turkish couple that love to camp...they have incredible camping kit and seem to go out every weekend almost, no matter the weather.

Thank you, the Turkish people have been the most friendly and generous people we have met so far. We are often offered food as well as tea, it’s unbelievable.

In the tradition of us Turks, the plate that comes full is not returned empty. Therefore, if a neighbor brings us a full plate, we give them back the full plate. So you can put a little something and return it.

Thank you for the explanation Kaburga, it was all new to us when we arrived in Turkey so we were not sure what the etiquette was.
The Turkish people are so kind and friendly and we have since received many plates of food, we have also given many plates of food which makes us feel really good.
We have definitely learned a lot from the Turkish people and will continue to share the kindness we have been shown

Me my husband went to Turkey in July this year and was there for two weeks. It felt like we were there for a month as we felt really in with the locals. Where we stayed we don't do hotels. We do apartments which then u have to go get own breakfast and dinner n tea etc . We were near the locals and just loved seeing them do their thing. The local shops selling convenience foods etc they are so friendly and polite and just love tourists. Turkey you are so awesome. You accept everyone and every culture of people my husband is Jamaican. And the turkish loved him. No racism at all in Turkey. They just love you for being a human being as we all should do to each other in England but we dont anymore. England has become tough and hard

Yes you’re 100% right, everyone should take a leaf out of turkeys book, the world would be a better place.
Sounds perfect avoiding the touristy areas, that’s what we like to do so you get to experience the real culture.
When we went out with a Turkish family for the day they even said “we are all the same” and they are spot on

The Turkish are very friendly people. They love to chat to you. And they love food. So they love it when u enjoy their food. They adore u for loving their food. I don't think they want things in return. You don't do things just to get something back cos u done something. When u appreciate it and show them u love it that is all the Turkish people need. I love them really I do. They put us English to shame. The Turkish are wanting to talk to u and get to know who u are. Their country is amazing and they just love everyone. U don't need to find anything to give them back. It is them and who they are. That is typical British where we feel we need to return the favour. But in Turkey they love you being there and appreciating their country and food. Just say thank you very much in Turkish and that all they need

@@KevintheCamper yes they very special. In icelemer in the Turkish delight store the lady serving us was Ukrainian. She was so friendly and so lovely my heart went out to her for what happening in her own country. But the Ukraine people are so strong their way of thinking is different to ours. She gave us so much of the Turkish delight to try I was so full up on it . She lives in Turkey and has married a Turkish man. Her other member of staff is Ukrainian also. She was lovely and she married a Turkish man too. It's like what the Turkish can do for u is not enough. They would do more if they can . This is what makes them stand out above the rest. Beautiful people. They should be so proud of their country. Just wish they would be friends with their neighbours Greece. Time here on earth is short. Why are they fighting all the time over land. The land belongs to GOD. So why fight over something that may not even be yours in the first place. Be thankful for the land u have and love it.
