  • If you want to roadtrip Turkey, you've gotta get off the highways and explore the road less traveled. Navigating the narrow mountain passes, traditional villages and disintegrating roads of the Turkish countryside is always fun! But does Tonka come out unscathed and what happens when we finally make it to the coast?

Great country side. Love the coastline. Wild boars, kids doing donuts, dogs on scooters,, and just incredible waters. Memories made and shared.
    Thanks again for sharing

Hi there, another great video! You mentioned something about cleaning the diesel heater? We have a Truma diesel water heater and are heading to Turkey, Georgia, Armenia … We did read about the diesel quality, but hadn‘t really thought about the fact that our heater might suffer too. Do you also have a Truma diesel heater? If so, which spare parts did you take and is it easy to clean it yourself? If this is mentioned somewhere on your website, just send me the link. I haven’t been able to read all the info. Thank you so much!!

Hi Anna, apologies for my delay - we're deep in the Moroccan Sahara right now.
We have a Eberspacher D5 but it's pretty much the same design as the Webasto. It's recommended to have them serviced every two years as a minimum (depending on use) as they coke up with carbon. It's true the diesel quality in Georgia & Armenia in particular is dirty however wherever possible buy Eurodiesel or Premium diesel & you'll be ok.
You'll struggle to find a Webasto engineer in Georgia or Armenia however Turkey’s pretty good.
Definitely carry a service kit as a minimum, which consists of a number of gaskets and small seals, once you open/separate the main component parts, even to simply clean it, the gaskets will have been affected by the heat and won't work again.
If you’re pretty handy you'll manage it ok with the help of a few RUclips video tutorials but I would'nt say its easy. I hope that’s of help 😀
