Scary! Stay safe, you did the right thing. We took our van to Meteora last summer and love it too! No wild camping allowed in the area then, so that’s one advantage of going off season!
I’m so sorry to hear about the break in. Can I suggest you get someone to do an energy clearing on your van. It would make good viewing content at the extremes you would go to to get over this but it will also work. P.s. love your pj shirt. So glad you kept your wits about you and did not open the door... really good lesson! it would be a mistake I could see me and my hubs doing.. just open the door to see who was there. Thanks so much 🥰🥰🥰 someone in the comments gave us great advice to buy wasp nest spray. Apparently it shoots like 20ft and will incapacitate them immediately if sprayed in their face. A big air horn to deafen them and a light to blind them 💪💪 I'm sure you wont encounter it, I think we are just super unlucky when it comes to stuff like this. They weren’t locals, my cousin has lived in Greece for a long time & says that it foreigners of Greece from all different countries that do this & that you need to report it to the local police! First year we lived in London in the van it was practically a weekly occurrence, but this was the first time we've ever had someone that didn't run away once they realised we were inside. It really is a horrible feeling, I hope you never experience it ❤️💪

You have had more than your fair share of break ins - think it even happened in Ireland if I remember. Maybe it's time to head south, fine some sun and beaches and put this behind you.

Greek history is just incredible to think the monks built these mind blowing monasteries what a death defying feat of will power, strength & tenacity!! Chinese & Greece culture & recorded history goes back to 1500BC apparently ~ "The history of Greece can be traced back to Stone Age hunters. Later came early farmers and the Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations. This was followed by a period of wars and invasions, known as the Middle Ages. Around 1100 BC, the people of the Dorians invaded from the north and spread along the west coast". Love that you are both willing to climb & explore plus the drone footage was priceless, so emotive it would bring tears to your eyes!! I still can not believe that people would have to pure audacity to try to break in while you are inside, omg that was so scary & thank goodness the Van was safely parked for quick getaway! How awful and scary 😨 I hope you can get past this quickly, though these things can cause paranoia for quite some time 💔 I do think it would help to have a bright outside light you could put on and maybe a motion activated CCTV camera? Just for added scare factor for the unwanted, a very loud manual alarm, which would also alert other campers nearby 🤣 Glad you were able to get to the driving seat and get away, you don't know how hard they would have tried to get in. Place looks lovely though 😍 where are you headed after Greece? I guess where and when is based around schengen visa.

We have been at this spot for over a week for about 1 month ago. We had no problem (we parked downstream, not above the refugee centrum). What did amaze me was that so many people leave their vans completely open and out of sight with all values out in the open... There is a certain person there, a shepherd that comes every single day, and sometimes during the night. He does this for many years already (Rust to roadtrip also had troubles with him). He is begging for money and he will try door handles like it is nothing... Normally there are always quite some vans around there but we were a few nights alone too but didn't have any problem. If I were you, I would go back, in the morning, enjoy the river. Park closeby (you can park within 2m or something) so you can have an eye out.
Yeah our friends had no problems at all when they were there last month. However we got a message on IG from someone else saying they went there yesterday and apparently someone was broken into the night after us, had their window smashed, and then last night someone had stuff stolen from van while they were in hotspring. So seems like someone is on a bit of a rampage these last few days. We would NEVER leave our van open even in sight 🤣🤣 the paranoia is real after bad experiences haha.
I am sooooo sorry it happened to you, and I am also so sorry it happened just after amazing Meteora.. for me, these kind of things drain all the positive energy I stored doing something I love.. Give yourselves a couple of days to digest, but try to move on and kudos to you both how you didn't act native or panicky at that moment. Let's face it, like you said: they didn't seem to have anything to lose. I also understand your reluctance to leave Martha for very long to climb, if you are ever in the area I live close to Tolmezzo Italy where there are many places you can climb basically next to your van. 😉 hugs to you both🫂 and a biiig applause for the drone shots...

I got back from work once and my patio door had been shattered and they stole a lot. It took me a few days to feel safe in my house that had been “violated”. I'm so so SO saddened by the attempted break-in! what the F!??!! Just really horrible! You are right - there are SO many wonderful people all over the world.. and then the freakin' bleep bleeps!!! So glad you kept your wits about you and did not open the door... really good lesson! it would be a mistake I could see me and my hubs doing.. just open the door to see who was there. Thanks so much 🥰🥰🥰 someone in the comments gave us great advice to buy wasp nest spray. Apparently it shoots like 20ft and will incapacitate them immediately if sprayed in their face. A big air horn to deafen them and a light to blind them 💪💪 I'm sure you wont encounter it, I think we are just super unlucky when it comes to stuff like this. Amazing scenery! I have been to Greece but in the Spring. It was hot in May. I am so sorry that someone felt they had to try to steal from you. You handled it well. They weren’t locals, my cousin has lived in Greece for a long time & says that it foreigners of Greece from all different countries that do this & that you need to report it to the local police!

First year we lived in London in the van it was practically a weekly occurrence, but this was the first time we've ever had someone that didn't run away once they realised we were inside. I do think it would help to have a bright outside light you could put on and maybe a motion activated CCTV camera? Just for added scare factor for the unwanted, a very loud manual alarm, which would also alert other campers nearby 🤣

We have been at this spot for over a week for about 1 month ago. We had no problem (we parked downstream, not above the refugee centrum). What did amaze me was that so many people leave their vans completely open and out of sight with all values out in the open...
There is a certain person there, a shepherd that comes every single day, and sometimes during the night. He does this for many years already (Rust to roadtrip also had troubles with him). He is begging for money and he will try door handles like it is nothing...
Normally there are always quite some vans around there but we were a few nights alone too but didn't have any problem.
If I were you, I would go back, in the morning, enjoy the river. Park closeby (you can park within 2m or something) so you can have an eye out.
Yeah our friends had no problems at all when they were there last month. However we got a message on IG from someone else saying they went there yesterday and apparently someone was broken into the night after us, had their window smashed, and then last night someone had stuff stolen from van while they were in hotspring. So seems like someone is on a bit of a rampage these last few days. We would NEVER leave our van open even in sight 🤣🤣 the paranoia is real after bad experiences haha.
I am sooooo sorry it happened to you, and I am also so sorry it happened just after amazing Meteora.. for me, these kind of things drain all the positive energy I stored doing something I love.. Give yourselves a couple of days to digest, but try to move on and kudos to you both how you didn't act native or panicky at that moment. Let's face it, like you said: they didn't seem to have anything to lose. I also understand your reluctance to leave Martha for very long to climb, if you are ever in the area I live close to Tolmezzo Italy where there are many places you can climb basically next to your van. 😉 hugs to you both🫂 and a biiig applause for the drone shots...

I got back from work once and my patio door had been shattered and they stole a lot. It took me a few days to feel safe in my house that had been “violated”. I can’t imagine how I woul’ve felt if I was inside when it happened.
