Guys thanx for sharing. When we woke up in France on 21st Dec finding they had closed the French border 10 hours after we boarded the Ferry, we were relieved but at the same time anxious heading south about running into the police. Another border crossing into Spain gave us more cause for concern. Then trying to return to UK before the new negative covid test came into force added more border crossing worry. Surely Van Life must be easier. Glad you back in the land of your temporary residency.

Hi Marianne and Chris, I used to work (race engine builder) in a Racing Team in Cologne in Western Germany, so we often went to UK for Racing purpose. And as a Turk I have to have a visa in Brit.Ambessy and according to laws I have to bring several documents, my pay slip, pic 's, have to pay for the stamp etc, etc...and everytime the consulate officials where ashamed and thry to explain the laws and bla, bla, blaa.... But there where good people and I loved to travel trough England, nice people , nice countryside and I felt I`m in a living Museum....I say that in a nice manner and I understand your situation and stupid laws and friendly officials...but at the end it seems all well done. I like your vids and your openminded comments, you are nice and lovely people. A big thumb from me, go on and stay healthy. T.R. ERSOY ,Germany.

Yesterday after watching your new video, I watched your first video in Turkey. Your first Turkish words. Your first impressions. It was all very nice. You wouldn't have guessed that you would be staying here for months. I hope our country has gained a good place in your heart. ;) We ❤️You
Some border crossings are memorable often for all the wrong reasons! I cannot remember the border location but it was one from Bulgaria into Romania. The weather was baking hot and zero shade. After going through passport control and needing a Vignette I was directed to an area further on where I had to park my van and join a queue of folk outside slowly making their way toward a cabin. As if it wasn't bad enough outside in the baking heat with no shade, it was about to get even worse on eventually entering the cabin which had a tin roof.....so everyone began getting roasted and I was dripping sweat! It had taken me around 40 mins to get that far so imagine my horror when it eventually came my turn at the booth window and she asked for my passport. Thats the first and ONLY time i've been asked to show my passport when buying a Vignette and of course, I hadn't taken it with me, it was in the van...i'd just taken the essentials, vehicle details registration number etc. After sensing the frustration on my face and seeing the growing queue, she relented and let it go!

When you said about getting lost. Have you tried what three words? If you mark the position of the van on your phone it will simply take you back there. Its also great if you are seperated at any time. You can pin point you position on the globe within 10 meters.
Well done. Agree about that gap between Computer Says No and Upper Official says ok. The poor sods in between are as clueless as you feel helpless. There ought to be a common word for it so that you and lower officials can use it, look at each other, and smile until things work out 👍💙❤️💙❤️

I was smiling as you were feeling nostalgic about revisiting places you’d passed through on your way south. It was charming! And then it all changed to gripping as you were sent back to booth 100. Wow! But all good now and we can relax .... I hope you are not too disillusioned with winter in the south of Turkey. It is often wet, which is why the vegetation is so green all year round, and it can be cold. It is not a winter sun destination from the UK for these reasons. But you can hit 20° in January occasionally, so not all bad. The further east you go, the colder it gets. Hence all the news reports from Iraq/Iran/Syria from years gone by of people freezing in makeshift camps. Don’t mean to be negative. And I hope you are fortunate. You deserve some good luck now.

Yep - it is really tricky but important to take advice - and although there are lots of legalities that change and most are outdated online - we have found some great facebook groups and forums that explain the legalities and have them checked regularly to help with knowing what is what 😉🚐🌺

HI Max - the videos are usually almost live, but as explained in a previous video we decided to try and over film and give ourselves a bit of time off at Christmas / New Year .There is a weekly newsletter that gives realtime information and polarsteps that shows where we are live - we are almost live again now - sorry for your disappointment 👍 Marianne

Yep - it is really tricky but important to take advice - and although there are lots of legalities that change and most are outdated online - we have found some great facebook groups and forums that explain the legalities and have them checked regularly to help with knowing what is what 😉🚐🌺
