This is a gorgeous looking guitar but is it weird that the back of it is the most appealing part to me? Just the set neck with that gorgeous dark matte finish is just the best. I seriously cannot wait for their next round of LP styles to come out
The only thing that lets it down in my opinion is how the binding on the back just comes to this awkward stop, I'd have preferred no binding on the back, but otherwise it's a beauty

I agree! Outside of Gibson for obvious reasons and maybe Heritage guitars, no guitar company should make singlecuts with conventional designs and specs. The original Les Paul os flawed instrument and is anything but ergonomic. And the gut gets in the way lol.
Enjoyed the review. My Firefly Red Bat Elite arrived today. The finish is sweet and it is pretty well set up but needs a bit of work. It does not have the belly cutaway or the sculpted neck joint so I maybe it is from the 2nd gen. One thing surprised me, the neck radius is 16. First guitar I've ever played with such a flat neck and it will take me some getting used to. My other guitars range from 9.5 to 12 so I noticed the difference. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the neck there are other fine guitars with that radius just thought I'd mention it. Excellent guitar made better by a great price. I have a Firefly acoustic as well which is very nice.

i think i got the very last one of these. i ordered it and an hour later it was "out of stock" scared hell out of me. LOL! but i love it! i will replace the gold with chrome. and have some Wilkinson Premium WHHB AlNiCo V's. put in. i learned on a Gibson firebrand or "the Paul" and want to turn this into that style of LP. for doing some old man rock. I was just looking at this one last night. I would have pulled the trigger, but I had just ordered a new Jackson two days ago. It hasn't even arrived yet. Still trying to talk myself into it. That neck joint with stainless frets at this price point is absolutely fire.
Well....I fought the good fight but in the end Firefly won. I just wasn't strong enough to resist and ordered the all black version this morning. $226.00 shipped is a hell of a deal for what you get. Just the stainless frets elevate these guitars above their price point. The addition of this new "set-through" type neck joint was the final straw for me.

i have that exact guitar, i replaced all the electronics with epiphone pros , and did a full fret level and crown, my frets were good at first but after a day or so i was getting fretting out on bends and massive buzzing.
Fire fly is awesome i got the old style one feels like a 59 it has the same back angle on the headstock as a gibson lp its alot steeper than my epiphone lp and i gotta say the ff sounds just as good probably better on the clean tones
As a Buyer of at least five Firefly guitars i can honestly say Firefly does not put the same amount of time and quality into there guitars like they did when they came out every 4 to 5 months they ramped up production and now there a hit or miss..

Nice guitar. We are living in interesting times when a guitar at this price is better than a guitar at the same price when I was starting to play in the 1970s. How that works I would have to ask an expert Economist LOL but at the end of the day it bodes well for all of you younger players out there. For God's sake pick up a guitar and play. There's never been a better time.
Question being, does the Epiphone feel 700 dollars more solid? Not to mention, with an Epiphone, you're definitely not getting, "Flawless fit and finish."
Ahhhh good question. Comparing the Epi to this particular Firefly there isn't a dramatic feel difference given the price difference. The epi is nicer in feel and the fit and finish on both is pretty flawless. The Epi definitely sounds much better and holds tune slightly better. But one thing I will give to the Firefly is the fretwork is surprisingly better on it! Not by a large margin but still noticeable. The feel is still close on both guitars. Definitely not a $700 difference. Honestly impressed by the Firefly!

Well I dont have any guitars that are THAT cheap cause there is a good reason cheap guitars are just that CHEAP you get what u pay for plus once u get used to playing what I call real guitars cheap guitars are just not playable once your used to good guitars,
We all have different needs but most of these guitars are absolutely fine for a guy playing 6 nights a week at 4 hour gigs provided they have a set up done by a competent tech. I own some pricey stuff but for the last 3 years I've gigged on a 89$ Grote strat with 34$ worth of Artec alnicos in it, and Grote 335 ish thang. I've got 40+ years of touring and session work under my belt. Few things are more fun then smoking some guy who is playing a 2000$ axe and a boutique amp. Plus, I just feel stupid using a pricey guitar in a filthy venue full of drunks that pays 100$ per man. I think folks should just play what they feel comfortable with.
Recent history: Until these new Fireflys, to get all these bells and whistles features on a guitar, you'd have to pay well over $1000 US Dollars, then we began to see this trend several years ago, as the Chinese increasingly entered the guitar-making business, of the price-point lowering; until these new Fireflys, the price for all these sought -after specs had got down to $350-$400 on Chinese- made guitars recently. And we'd hear RUclipsrs saying, "I don't know HOW they can sell these at $350". Well, now Firefly all of a sudden can sell these specs for 200$. This has me concerned; really, how are they able to do this. Let's take a look at some labor conditions that exist in China. Though, China's Supreme Court ruled that the "996" work schedule is illegal in August of 2021, it's doubtful that it is being enforced. So, even a highly competitive "good job" in many industries in China where a version of USA's "hustle" culture exists and workers attended higher learning before entering the workforce, workers commonly work 9am to 9pm, six days a week/72 hours. Btw, it was similar conditions in USA at beginning of the 20th century until "labor" revolted enough and fought to get "organized labor/unions" founded. In 1955, 33% of USA workers were union members! The unions in USA brought many quality-of -life benefits to families - 8 hours/day, 5 days/week, paid sick-leave, vacation time, etc. You may be old enough to notice that over the last 40 years, increasingly, workers are working longer than 8 hours and more than 5 days; this trend has been the result of the success that the Republican Party has enjoyed destroying labor unions over the last 43 years, starting with Reagan Administration and continuing ( keen observers noticed that in October '23, during the USA Auto industry workers' strike that when Trump went to visit the workers, he actually didn't - he went to a subcontractor's shop that was non-union, his campaign put a few people in the crowd holding "UAW" signs; these sign-holders were later determined to be the non-union-shop owner's family members. Of course, Fox News went along with the lie). Republicans' efforts to destroy the labor unions have resulted in today, ~ only 6% of the private sector being union currently, down drastically from the peak of 35% in ~1953. Back to Chinese labor conditions: the U.S. Dept of Labor has officially placed 6 Chinese products on list that is produced by forced child labor ( gloves and polysilicone are two examples). More recently, the same dept. issued a report noting that the concentration camp conditions by Chinese govt of the Uyghur people includes more than 100,000 of them being used as forced labor and that there is new evidence that this is no longer occurring ONLY in Xinjiang province, but instead the workers are being delivered elsewhere in China to be put to work in other industries. I want one of these guitars badly. I'm worried about what I'm supporting and encouraging.

The older ones are almico 4s. The new fflp are now ceramic. It still sounds great. Got me fflp bourban Burst.

It's got a good look. it seems like a pink champagne finish until it's close up.
Might be the lightning. It's a lot more mahogany/natural wood finish!

These guitars look great for the price but I agree haven't seen any of the guitars on their website for months that have the gold. Very hard to get.

Perhaps the change in humidity/temperature affected the truss rod causing those initial issues?

I have bought 3 firefly guitars. Anonymously, not for review. Two of the necks were HORRIBLE, requiring extensive fretwork. One was fine.
