In 2023 I picked up TWO FF SGs...a 2 PUP Flame Maple Blue Burst and a Yellow 3 PUP. GREAT guitars and value for under $200. Just bought a Flame Maple Grey Burst Double Cutaway with P-90s...KILLER.
I picked up one of these from Guitars Garden, black with the Iommi-style cross inlays. It was gone off the site the same day and hasn't come back so I don't know if they sold out or had to stop selling them, but I got mine. I had been looking at an Epi SG but couldn't get past the fact that it had "lesser" specs but a much higher price, and both are made in China. And, those cross inlays are so sweet.
Bought the same Sabbath Tribute FFLGS. Great guitar!!
I just ordered one, there are 6 left.
Looks beautiful. Firefly is back baby
This would look so good with blacked out parts 😁😁😁
I received my first FF yesterday, this guitar but with the three pickups. I dont really have a older model to compare it to, but the one I received was flawless. And I mean flawless. Except for a little polishing compound on the ends of the beautiful stainless, ball end, polished to mirror finish, frets. I'm not a shill, but DAMN how can they sell these so cheap? Insanely happy with my purchase! Thank you Max for turning me on to Firefly!
The schecter V pic with the chain goes hard 😂
hard on your back, you mean
extra 4 lbs weight
Schecter rules 👍🤘
I had an SG that had horrendous neck dive. I filled the control cavity with stick on automotive wheel weights. Ended up perfect.
I chose mine in red because I already own a Westcreek in yellow with a black racing stripe. The call a Bumblebee. I have 5 Firefly's. They are all great.
Thanks for doing these well done videos. I have a FF Strat from Guitars Garden, and it plays really good. Can't beat the price for what you're getting. The Gibson SG has more nose dive than the Firefly LG because of where the neck meets the body - Gibson has more pendulum weight with the body meeting at the 22nd fret, FF meets at the 19th fret.
I love Firefly guitar and always Love your feedback on all the guitars you get. Love your channel.Keep up the good work
I Absolutely love my Firefly Les Paul play's like butter straight out of the box playable only had to tune it up
I just sold mine but it was killer!
Hey Max! Great review as always. Had a blast meeting you at Bootlegger and hanging out after. Looking forward to the next one haha. Keep it up!
Hey man! Thanks for making the drive down. Was great hanging with you.
I bought 2 of these in Red a week ago, They are great out of the box, the only cons about it is they should have put the strap button on the horn, but I already decided before I got it I would fix that, the only other thing is it may need intonation set some. also may need some fret end work on some, one of mine will catch the string if you accidentally bend it over the board.
This may be an excellent second guitar for my Grandson. I bought him a Strat as his first guitar. His choice not mine. I didn’t say anything but, I was hoping he would choose the Jake E. Lee Charvel.
I understand you Max i play a little you're a cool cat I will love to see your band
Because ... BANANA! 🍌🤘🤘🎸 George and Co. are firing on all cylinders. To the balance discussion, my real SGs have always scored a 2 or 3 on balance because of neck dive. Sounds great, but you could make a one string shovel guitar sound good 😆
I’ve got one in Silverburst. Plays great!
That is a striking color. Nice
Looks sweet. I have never played stainless steel frets.
Damn. They're already completely out of these on amazon. Would love to get that yellow one.
Big follower here, channel offers something at least “different” to others, you’ve hit de nail. Let alone that fm radio type of voice 👍
I’d like to hear more of a bluesy riffs and solo in your performance, I know you’re more like a shredder and you’ve proved it easy, but in some type of guitars, those good old riffs and licks would bring an audience (like me) that we enjoy a bit more rock and roll
Thank you amigo !
Dany from Argentina 🇦🇷
I appreciate that!
I got all my Firefly guitars from Guitars Garden. Nice to see they're bringing back the FFLG model. Looks more like an ESP Viper, than an SG. I'd call that more BANANA yellow. The original FFLG Custom would qualify as Taxi Cab yellow, I think.
Max did you see the new Sawtooth preorder guitars? They look amazing!!
I'll check it out! Thanks for the tip.
Great review as always. The guitar's pick-ups seemed to sound almost the same, either with the switch up or switch down.
As a yellow cab driver myself, I'd say its Lemon yellow whereas taxis are like honey mustard yellow 😅
Picky 🤓
highlighter yellow
Pretty. Sounds good. That's all ya need.
What brand honey mustard? I mean, cmon, there’s like a rainbow of yellows depending on which one… I still miss Hellmans Honey Mustard Madness. It was ahead of its time.
Just ordered the 3 pickup version. Hopefully I get lucky with shipping and it make sit here in one piece. Seems like the expanded end of the guitar would help out with neck dive. Dont true SG's suffer from this?
When it comes to neck dive consider using the acoustic guitar strap concept where the strap is tied with string around the top of the neck.
sounds cheezy but it can work.
That intro demo kicked ass! Guitar is pretty rad, an offset with horns similar to an SG... the neck joint is impressive.
Impressive?!? So is the neck joint on the Firefly FFLG stronger than on a real Gibson SG? SGs are NOTORIOUS for having weak neck joints that can flex and crack with great ease.
@@zuperdee not sure what's up with the "Impressive?!?" 🤔... as though you feel I'm not entitled to my opinion. I toured with a Gibson SG for years, so I'm familiar with SG's... and Gibson guitars in general. BTW, any guitar with an angled headstock is going to be prone to breaking at the headstock... I'm familiar with this as well, all it takes is tripping over your guitar cable in the practice space and your guitar falling off its stand... ask me how I know.
@@ChadRidings-v9q Not at all saying you aren’t entitled to your opinion! I’m just curious, because I’d be pleasantly surprised if the Firefly FFLG neck joint were stronger than Gibson’s, which is certainly possible-many Les Paul clones have better headstock designs less prone to breakage, too. PRS headstocks are also almost immune to headstock breakage, since they have something like a 10-11 degree angle instead of the ridiculous 17 degree angle that Gibson uses. Some Gibsons have also tried to strengthen the headstock with a volute, but then for some reason that nobody has been able to explain properly to me, some people then complain about the volute… Why some people wouldn’t want a technically proven superior neck/headstock joint is unfathomable to me.
@@zuperdee gotcha, I don't disagree
Could be "Tv - yellow" as well which originally was famous from Gibson. In the days of Black & White Tv they looked white, but they did not shine too much to be an eye sore.
I wonder if stainless steel strings are cheaper to manufacture than nickel steel. I think stainless steel has chromium in it instead of nickel. Pretty much the same way when chromium replaced
nickel as the finishing layer.
It was on Guitar Garden, but not now . I'm waiting for the single pup version.
I prefer stainless steel frets on all my guitars personally, they just last way longer, I don't really notice a tonal difference, but YMMV.
If they come out with a 7-string with locking tuners, roasted neck and interesting finishes I'll buy 2
Hmmm, I'm liking the green version. :)
thanks man
I’d love to get a look at the Firefly factory. Know what I mean ?
Guitar looks good, what's the nut width on that model.
What would you say the neck is? Doesn't say on Amazon. I just got the Green one. This is a thick neck. But easy to play.
Full C shape I would say!
Perhaps you mentioned it and I missed it, but what is the neck shape and thickness?
The wife won't let me get any more guitars. I have an FFST. I really like Firefly guitars quality.
Olive drab is a flat paint dark green for military. That green is not even close. Just saying. Love the videos.
You should reach out to Glenn from Spectre Sound Studio's, he is always looking for great guitars under the 500 dollars (probably canadian dollars), I would love to see you too work together, to find the best cheap guitar, helping all beginner Headbanging legends, getting an axe to start out on.
Is there an issue with the string slipping off the edge of the frets/fretboard with those ball end frets? It seems like the string would constantly slip off the edge.
I have a Firefly FFTL with ball end frets here, and in my experience, there is absolutely NO issue with strings slipping off the edge of the frets. If you look closely enough, you’ll see that the frets are SLIGHTLY inconsistent in their lengths, and yes, they don’t quite project right up to the very edge of the fretboard, but they’re VERY close, so it’s NOT an issue for playability whatsoever. The ball end stainless steel frets are WONDERFUL for feel and playability.
No.
That yellow.. is very very yellow
Easiest way to fix neck dive: Go headless 😎
It is a yes or no color.
Will this guitar fit in a SG hard shell case?
No, I don't think so. The body shape is too different.
@@GuitarMAXMusic Thank you!
I'll look to see if they make a lefty.
Firefly doesn't make lefties. They don't give a rats ass about us! 🤬👺
Firefly doesn't make lefties. They don't give a rats ass about us! 👺🤬
Firefly now have great bridge pickups with enough output. Solid construction there better than Harley Benton. Straight up 1000$ guitar 200$
Where do you buy your chain?
found it in a dumpster behind GC
Am I wrong (I'm not a guitar snob; I promise.) or is that Tune-o-matic-style bridge slightly angled? I paused it and looked at it closely because the body is slightly offset. But the bridge is not straight with the bridge pickup. The distance between the two is tapering from the low E to the high E.
That is correct. Tune-o-Matic bridges SHOULD be angled slightly from low-E to high-E. In fact, this is true of nearly ALL guitar bridges, with the exception of Fender-type bridge designs, which have a lot more adjustment space than ToM-type bridges. (Nashville-type ToM bridges have slightly more adjustment space than ABR-1 type ToM bridges, but that’s a whole separate discussion.)
Still dont ship to Canadaland
😫😢😭
I know i should probably finish the video before I ask but i can't help myself does the off cut body reduce neck dive?
And how's the baby you guy's able to sleep all night yet?
Lol.. yeah sorry should have just waited
But if you move the button to the top horn it would probably be perfect
It's similar to Guild
Ive bought 4 fireflys they're badazz
Firefly are not available in australia anywhere! sux.
It looks closer in shape to a Guild Polara to me.
Sadly it seems like they only make 50 of each model a year because they are always out of stock.
I had a 1984 Jeep Cherokee ( AMC made) in that yellow.
I built a kit in this style ( more viper than SG), and it had very little neck dive, and was easy to reach all the frets up the neck. Now Squire has a $199. debut guitar to battle the off brands!
YT influencers and customers have the musical manufacturers hopping, because offshore builders will listen to the consumer , while the big brands tend to stick to old traditions.
It's Good to have Guru Max enlightening the masses. 🔎🎸⁉🔍😎👍
I like the stainless.
I mean…why not?
It really changes the tone and pick attack. I just ordered a Warmoth one piece Roasted Maple neck and got normal frets. The one I have w Stainless is way high frequency and has too much pick attack. Fortunately thats just what a Pine body needs so I paired them. Sounds great. I had it on 2 or 3 Ash bodys and it was too much of a good thing. On the + side , fret wear isn't a problem. Regardless of which side of TONEWOOD you're on, a bright body and neck will be to much unless thats what you want.
@@terryenglish7132 you could try changing strings, to a different metal composition
Not bad
ÀIO GUITARS THERE IN CALI.
🔥🔥🤘🤘🔥🔥
Give Fireflys to Europe someone......help!!!
Are Firefly’s made in China?
Yes!
Is it just me, or does it seem odd to anybody else, that people will pay $399 for a Boss amp and cab sim pedal. When for the same price you can get the real deal Katana 100watt combo? What am I missing? For $479 you could get a 212 combo from the Boss Katana lineup. It's like getting the cab for free.
physical size and weight. and battery power.
@@superblondeDotOrg hey, absolutely. If you can't actually listen to the guitar except with headphones. Then it's gravy I suppose.
@@andrewbecker3700 Maxx is recording guitar straight via the pedal as DI. so he probably uses his studio monitors for monitoring, which is more accurate response than a generic guitar cab anyway. cheap cab will not have high-end speakers so can't be compared to monitors. physical cabs are a waste of space and money.
Get some black electrical tape, start wrapping the guitar and start your own Stryper tribute band.
praise the Lord
There you go!
Esp Ltd viper
OK think slide blues. Segestion for song tittle.. Chicken feathers on the porch run with it. Never wrote. I'm sky Dan song writer.
It's a Less G
Looks like an SGs fat sìsta.
I have just purchased the guitar and all have to say that it is subpar.... basically trash. Bedsides the action being close, I also encountered problems with the intonation. These issues are easily fixable, however, the metal frets are horrendous, not so flush up and down the neck, though you won't nick your finger.
The worst part was the pickup selector switch. It wasn't working for the bridge pickup. You had to toggle it a couple of times until it made contact.
FYI. Amazon removed this guitar model from its catalog.
I’m not so sure that Jumbo frets are unequivocally “better.” Jumbo frets are not as good for intonation, and depending on your playing style, NOT as nice for feel.
What isn't to love, I only know of one person who like expensive guitars and he can't play worth a sh!t.
It looks awful tho
yellow is not a popular color for electric guitars
What are the workers earning? Like $2 per guitar they make? 🤔🫤
