Used to have a '76 RM100 and it did my heart good to hear that tinny sound they made when revving them up. Not too much in the horsepower arena but that particular engine had an upper level RPM band that seemed unbelievable even back when I owned one. Also, never had to change out the top-end. Later, I had a '79 RM125. Nice bike but needed much more maintenance. The engine that this RM100 had seemed bulletproof.
Ya mine had no compression at all and it fired up 2-3 kick everytime. Absolutely bulletproof, I drove it hard 90% of the time and it lasted me years. Eventually grew out of it and dad got rid of it
@@Owenblanchette yeah, I grew out of mine as well. 100s--unless they were 125s with a cylinder sleeve--weren't as 'cool' but I also did not really know what I had on my hands. If I could get hold of one again and if I had room for it in my life, I'd gladly take one. That engine only produced about 20HP and maybe a bit more if you knew how to lean out your fuel mix. It was enough HP to have fun with! I have nothing but good memories of mine and when I got it in about 1980, it was pretty lightly used.
I actually have one that was raced by phil lindeman...and the bike placed 4th in the nation...it needs restored...but i might consider selling it for the right price...its got all the vintage racing stuff on it still too!!
Watching this is just as if I were riding my Suzuki 1980 RM100T. Haven't fired it up in years, but you've inspired my to pull it out from under my cabin, blow the dust off and ride!

It was well looked after before I got the bike. Not sure if the other owner restored it or if it’s original paint
