First of all, I can't believe that you got so much challenge finding support for your project. I am norwegian myself, and I have learned a lot from your videos, both about cycling and roads and routes that I was not aware of. Besides, our nature is our number one tourist attraction, wether it is the mountains and fjords, or the aurora borealis, it is the main thing that draws tourists to Norway. A very popular way to see Norway is going by cruise ship, but now we are getting trouble with that, because those huge boats leave behind a lot of pollution. I would therefore think that people in the tourist industry wouild be very interested in tourism that is low emission, and especially tourism that helps support small communities all around the country. Norway spend conciderable amounts of money on keeping our population spread out all around the country, so tourism on land that does not pullute much should be very welcome. Maybe the industry wants to overload spesific attractions, and centralize where people travel hand stay in hotels, etc., but personally I think they should think differently. In the big picture it is very cheap promotion of Norway to give you a budget for what you do, and I find your videos very enjoyable. So in short, I am a local who can't believe that it wouild be so hard to find funding in Norway. It is really hard for me to understand. When it comes to entertainment I can also add that some of your vidoes have taken me down memory lane about places I have been in Norway throughout my life. It has been a pleasure watching you discover the same places on your bicycle, so many thanks for that!

I can’t believe VisitNorway said no! Try them again and again, until they come to their senses. They would be the perfect fit.
I have to say, I never considered a cycling trip in Norway until your videos but now I’m seriously thinking about it.
I love these crazy abandoned roads your finding. More gravel the better. I want to stay away from traffic. I will keep in touch and start working on my trip based on your info. Good luck, we’re counting on you.

Congratulations on obtaining support Matthew, I really enjoy your channel. I cycled in Norway in 2021 and yes, the tunnels are the major issue for cyclists and can potentially putting us off from going there. I was clipped by a car's mirror in a tunnel in Switzerland a few years and was very lucky the car itself didn't hit me. So now I am very apprehensive about using tunnels. From your "death road" video it is obvious that the situation could be slightly improved if the original roads that have been replaced by the tunnels could be properly maintained.

Congratulations Matthew! 🎉 That website sounds fantastic. Just what’s needed.
After having been a keen cyclist in the Netherlands I struggled to keep it up in hilly Norway, although I did make a few trips years ago. Your channel was just what I needed to finally invest in an e-bike. And I am LOVING it! Finally I can get around everywhere on a bike again, without spending all my energy on just getting up the long hills out of town. I’m not getting spiked tyres, so packing up soon, but look forward to the spring already. The new website sounds just what I’ll be needing then. My cycling guides from the 90’s can possibly be discarded😂

It would be a tragedy if the lack of financial support would be the constraint which stopped your dream of CycleNorway. It baffles me as a norwegian how VisitNorway and Innovasjon Norge turned you down when so many people will benefit from your website; norwegians and tourists alike. Its appaling that I and others have to rigorously look at Google Maps and Wikipedia to navigate which roads and bridges might threaten a cyclists life, and which ones won't.
Your website will also likely benefit people on roller skis. There was an accident this summer where a foreign athlete (a 20y.o girl) tragically passed away after getting in an accident while roller skiing. I genuinely believe that your website could help reduce the likelyness of such accidents, and I hope Statens Vegvesen thinks so too.
So thank you Matthew, for fighting this seemingly uphill battle for all of us. You can count on my help if the oppurtunity comes.

Great to hear about your sponsorship Mathew, and I hope it is the first of many to come. I’m exited to see what the results of your new web page will be.

Thank Kai, hope you will be interested in contributing at some point. You have a wealth of knowledge and have cycled some interesting gravel roads on the remote east of the country. Keep in touch.

Thanks Dag! Do you have any footage from your Nordkapp trip you could share with me? I remember seeing a video on Facebook on a wet and rainy day with you fighting the elements! It's a great example of a tough day on the bike heading up the coast. It would be useful to show on the weather info page for the site.

Been in Norway a lots of times. Skiing and biking. And I have been cycling in the alps in more than 20 year. But because of your videos I’m going much more to Norway in the future. Your videos are so cool, great nature and a lot of humor. Keep em coming. Good luck with the website. I’m looking forward to see it.

Matthew you are doing great work! Go for it and keep your head up like you showed here! Probably the people that gave the no's were not ready for it but time will come and the wind will change!

Congratulations Matthew, hope it all goes well, get some merch on your new site, like the mug for example and I am sure that will help too. Can't believe the Norwegian tourist board didn't welcome you with an open wallet. Maybe they will come on board in time. Your journeys have been so inspiring to me. I hope to do some bikepacking in Norway in the next couple of years and will come to cyclenorway for planning and help. Best of luck!

Hi Matthew, thanks for the update. Congratulations on your new partnership! Well deserved. Already looking forward to new brilliant storytelling cycling content late next year ;-). The website will be a next huge adventure.
Sorry to hear that VisitNorway didn't yet join... It's the perfect time for them to start this new "green" adventure with you (they could have even joined in an unobtrusive way and learn along the way). Still, it would be great if they somehow got in next year, who knows :-). Your videos are a great (and joyful) discovery of Norway, even for non-cyclists!
It takes guts and passion to do what you do. I am convinced you will find more partners as the project takes shape and more people hear and read about it. Enjoy the coming months, I wish you lots of creativity, energy, pizza 🙃 and success 💪!

Good luck with the new venture Matthew. I became a cycle tour leader and operator because I had a dream. I’ve been retired for a while now but at least I followed the dream. I’m excited to see your dream develop & thanks for all of the videos you’ve posted.

Nice one Matthew! I love that your vision is so clear and that you are able to communicate it with both passion and humility. I’m sure this will be reflected in your website. Best of luck and many thanks for sharing all of your amazing content thus far. Take care.
