I grew up in El Segundo. Wonderful childhood memories. Moved there in 1950. Lived at 1712 E. Pine Ave (Goggle it. It's still standing). I graduated El Segundo High School June 1963. Thanks for this video.

My wife and iI raised our daughter in El Segundo and worked for Hughes Aircraft/Boeing until retirement. we lived in two different areas of the city both west and central in the city. For the last 13 years we lived in the very west in the dunes area, Redwood Ave, loved the ocean views and the history our neighborhood being the old baseball field on our bluff above the ocean, those kids had a great field to play on! we moved on in 2013 as most did after enjoying the area for most of our lives, $$$$ and never looked back, hope the next El Segundoens escape like we did. Happy trails, now residing in Colorado.

In the 1960s they would place signs out on main street saying all negros go home after 5pm. the community is surrounded by heavy industry, Chevron on the entire south side of the city. LAX on the entire north including the 105 fwy servicing the airport one of the busiest in the world. The industrial section starts at about a mile west of Sepulveda blvd and continues east until shortly after Aviation blvd which hasn't changed since ww2. The police are better than what you are going to find in Culver City. Burbank and Redondo beach places you don't want to be stopped which is kind of off because Manhattan beach cops are great and have a home town ethic. As it has been said there is the Hyperion plant on Vista Del Mar road which runs to the west along the beach sewage plant. There is no residential dwellings along the beach end of town only Chevron oil receiving plant that has oil tankers out in the water that connect to it. looks like a electrical plant steel structure. there are like two parking lots for day and overnight trips to the beach and camping is permitted. Personally I would look at Manhattan Beach or Hermosa Beach. Hermosa Beach if small town is what you are looking for Manhattan Beach if community is more appealing to you. There are two sections of town in Manhattan beach they are the sand section and the soil section and neither are cheap. I lived in Manhattan beach went to school there lived there until I was in my early twenties thirty years ago. My mom was married to the person responsible for the logo at the top of the street signs of the sun and surf. He won a art contest for his idea for the street signs. 2705 maple ave was a house detached garage. first house I lived in 764 duplex on Manhattan Beach blvd 3204 Alma Ave Has garage that you can't park in built for a model A ford total beach house, 1316 8th street. My grandparents bought it in 1956 for 12K because it was cheaper than Marina Del Rey that has changed. the last house 1602 10th st which my grandparents bought in 1979 for 97k and my mom solt it for 1750k to a guy who then took down what was there and replaced it with its current structure. Huge change to the property which makes its value around 2500k. All addresses are for Manhattan Beach. I don't live there anymore I still live in Los Angeles county just in the desert and I don't miss it there

Great video. El Segundo is also home to big corporations like Raytheon, Boeing, DirecTv and Mattel. Lots of opportunity for employment of those looking to climb the corporate ladder.

Lol. She represents the older ladies you'll find in the Cafe/diners in downtown during the week, playing table games and gossiping. 🤷🏻‍♂️
