Can we get interview with Jlo?
Inertia means to remain still. It is the force that helps maintain stability and equilibrium. It does NOT mean to move forward. What dictionary is Cameron looking at ?
Kevin is a relatively poor interviewer. I can't watch this.
I’m glad he asked. I’m a nurse and I feel I’m pretty smart but i dont know a lot of words also, and if he didn’t ask. I would have googled it.. but the fact that he humbled who he is or what he does . And asked what does it mean.. reminds me to always ask questions and always ask what that mean? I’m always a student
Momentum vs inertia.
I love Kevin being honest about vocabulary. I wish more people were honest when they don't know something and simply just ask.
I love that, too. The weird thing is her definition and use of the word inertia was not entirely apt. I hope he didn't file that away for use later. Typically, people use the word inertia to mean to do nothing (but it can mean to remain to remain in an unchanged state so if the state is moving it kind of is right?) But usually people use the word momentum for that.
@@ChristyMurphyWriter exactly! I wondered if anyone else would comment 😂
Yep, no shame in it
Yea, inertia is the resistance to movement…but probably an honest mistake
It’s called humility.😊
It’s great that Kevin asked what “inertia” means. He says he doesn’t know a lot of words. That is so awesome. If you don’t know, ask or look it up in the dictionary.
Except inertia means lack of movement sorry Cameron
@@czacharkiw3926 Exactly!
he might be a tad busy working
"The man who asks a question is a fool for a minute, the man who does not ask is a fool for life." - Confucius
Great to see someone not afraid to ask what a word means. We're all guilty of pretending to know what a word means when it comes up in conversation. We should all have this humility and put our egos aside in the moment.
I find it very admirable when someone admits that they don't know something. Wether it be a particular word or story, and especially in a public way like this, it's rare for people to just blatently admit they don't know something and ask
Love it!
@@amyrenee1361 your right that she didn't define it correctly and the definition you gave is textbook. I always go back to my high school physics class and would have remember newton's first law of motion- a body in motion stays in motion/ a body at rest stays at rest.
She definitely didn't use the term perfectly, but I understood what she was saying.
@@amyrenee1361 she did use it correctly, her career was always moving on to the next movie and keeping that momentum of moving forward which is literally inertia
I love it.. That’s how you learn. More people should do it.
@@jasonk7003 Always moving, momentum, moving forward does not in anyway equal inertia. You're wrong. Go and look it up.
Love her acting but love herself much more. What a genuine, real normal person
Lol
I met her in person once and she was so incredibly nice .. I have met a lot of celebrities and so many have been absolute rude snobs but she was so nice
Who was the the rudest?
I love that she is married to Benji Madden. I feel like they would be awesome fun couple friends. Also pretty neat she is Nicole Richies sister in law.
I absolutely adore Kevin Hart!. He is so easy. He is himself. I truly love to see him
All throughout that interview I was obsessing about how cool that location space is.
Me too
Cameron Diaz was and is my all time favorite actress
Cameron such a deeply spiritual and switched on , highly intelligent being .
This comes across on screen and all her interviews .
Beautiful spirit and character 🤗
YOU GUYS.....everyone is talking about Kevin and his honesty about vocabulary. But it's Cameron (i love her btw - super crush) that gave the EXACT OPPOSITE definition of the word INERTIA. I think from how she defined it (wrongly) she meant to say 'MOMENTUM' - which is the antonym (opposite) of INERTIA. INERTIA - would in this context be...'a lazy couch potato - ie...difficult to get moving/get motivated.
YES
I don’t think your definition is quite right either. I’d also wrongly assumed it meant this but looking it up I think inertia means more that you stay in whatever your current state is i.e. if you’re moving you stay moving and if you’re static you say static until there is some kind of external influence that affects you
@@gemmawhitehouse9514 yes thanx Gemma i kind of came to that conclusion myself...albeit too late. I just reacted based on the primary meanings of the words i guess. My bad.
Inertia doesn't mean to move forward. In fact it means the opposite: a tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged.
No, inertia means the constant state of rest or motion (moving forward). She was speaking of the latter.
Exactly.Thanks.I looked it up and read the true meaning. I'm glad I'm not the only one calling it out🤣🙃
I think it's really strong of Cam to give up acting and not stop there. She's shown to the world that you don't have get stuck and drag your life according to how others want to see you but rather do what YOU think matters most. 🌻
Kevin’s wine glass is the size of his arm 😂
Met her at the store. Absolutely Beautiful.
She chatted with me though she had no reason.
Happy for her,choosing herself.
The Holiday is still one of my fave rom-com movies til this day.
I adore her Laugh.
Her character in "There's Something About Mary" is my Waifu.
The look on Kevin hearts face is priceless 🤣😂🤣😂 Hes like "I don't understand all the words.😝
Kevin’s heart has a face?
She's happy having time for herself.
I really do miss seeing her in newer movies, but I totally admire her decision to step away and enjoy her life.
This was a really nice conversation, I mean.. imagine being so preoccupied with a game & playing stuff in the background, and then watching this video & focusing on theit conversation!
I'm here for it!!! She's talented, and I never really questioned why she quit, because for someone to quite something that they absolutely loved to do in life just out of the blue, it had to be deeper than acting!!! She's whole, happy and healthy! And to me, thats a win in my book
Great interview Kevin. It just flowed and Cameron was open and comfortable in the space. I can relate to her experience.
Please make these interviews available everywhere!!! Thank you!
for someone who works in the industry can completely relate to Cameron on everything she has touched base on.
Cameron is so authentic. I love her honesty. It seems like she is well rested and content 😌
I love Cameron Diaz and her decision makes a total sense!
Inercia is exacly the opposite of what she said. So… don’t worry, Kevin… you BOTH don’t know what it means.
Nope she's correct. Inertia is the tendency for an object to either stay at rest OR keep moving. So when she said that she can keep moving forward with unlimited energy she used the word properly. You guys need to go back to high school physics 🙄
i was about to say the same thing and then i did a crazy thing: i researched the word. Turns out she aint wrong.
I’ve only heard it used in the context of not moving.
Synonyms for inertia: inactivity, inaction, dullness, passivity.
Sorry to those admonishing us to go back to physics. If Oxford’s says these are the similar words to inertia then that is what is its typical use. An obscure reference in physics when the opposite is happening is obviously not common parlance. I’m with you, Rafi. She don’t know what she’s sayin.’
That first answer made me picture Kevin bridges sat there saying “did ye aye”
One of my childhood crushes, sad to see age catching up to her. Time waits for no one.
To be able to age gracefully is a blessing.
Not judging or anything but "inertia" is actually the contrary, it's the tendency to do nothing or to keep unchanged.
We love you Cameron! Please come back!
Kevin H. Thanks for asking about that word I learned something new. I miss Cameron in acting come back!
1:49
I just love her 😂❤
Isn’t inertia the opposite of what she’s saying? I wonder if she meant “momentum”.
exactly
Cameron used inertia properly.
From the dictionary: "a property of matter by which it continues in its existing state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line, unless that state is changed by an external force."
@@Mintpepperoni yup.
@@Mintpepperoni Yeah, 'cause she's giving a lecture about physics, right?
Actually if you understand that this word has more than one definition, and the one she is referring to is in the context of physics, then you would’ve never tried your hand on this one! She used it correctly and knows what she’s talking about.
Great to see her again.... But wow she has really gotten old. Not in a bad way, u can see it in her face. And she's still so beautiful.
I still miss her! Love her movies..the holiday and the othrr women..
Lol she stepped away the first time "Grandma" flew by her Agent! That's the real reason 😂
From THE MASK 1995 to NOW!, she hasn't aged a bit. WOW! 😀😀😀👏🏿👏🏿💙
She is so beautiful- inside and out
There’s that signature laugh oh hers! ❤️
Very happy for her. I'll miss her in movies because she was always fun to watch.
Kevin shows his substance in these interviews. 🙏🏼💗
Even though she doesn’t actually know what inertia means it’s cool that he asked and she explained it to him.
I still wish I could see more movies of her.
Acting isn’t forever for everyone
Inertia actually means a tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged. a property of matter by which it continues in its existing state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line, unless that state is changed by an external force.
"the power required to overcome friction and the inertia of the moving parts"
" You Know" is the only thing i hear!! Please teach them art of speaking.
Inertia: The tendency to do nothing or remain unchanged. No Kev don't learn that today 😁
This is exactly what I was thinking lol. I was like have I had the definition wrong for all of these years?!
Phew! That was a Scooby Do double take for sure!
She explained it wrong but it also means something that will continue moving forward, unless something is changed by an external force. Which seems appropriate to what she was saying
she explained it just fine, just not in depth. "remain unchanged" is the key word. matter will stay at its state unless an external force is acted upon it (like friction). if a ball is still, it will stay still until someone kicks it, or wind blows it over. people in a moving car will jolt forward when coming to a sudden stop because the body will want to continue at its same speed and direction (because inertia). :)
Yes! I can see where it "could" be applicable to what she's saying, but the word choice is not apt. And it can literally (and I mean literally) be used in the opposite way (ie remaining still until acted upon), which is more common.
Do we really need another talk show? It's already 100 of them
Also if you don't know ...don't use it...because inertia is actually the opposite of movement, unless you were moving in a straight line undisturbed...
It seems like a convoluted response to why she quit acting. Just say that she wanted to concentrate on her personal life. That there wasn't a healthy work/life balance.
Sometimes people think through talking.
She did not stop acting... just hit the WALL....
Kevin is real. I'm happy for Cameron. The location is gorgeous.
I didn’t even realize she wasn’t acting anymore.
She's been away from acting for 7 years now. She just wanted to move on from the business to focus on her married life and her daughter.
She is and always will be my favorite
She got her life! Hollywood isn't everything if you don't have your thing.
Her smile 💕
It's cool when an actress/actor can step away from their career and move forward with family time...some feel that they need to keep the Hustle going when they are well off financially then they can ever be for two or three lifetimes..Family is usually the ones who are sacrificed.
I loved Cameron Diaz all my life and I'm very sad now to hear that she acted like a machine all the time until forty. She really deserves her new and OWN life.
I love the decor in this place😘
Inertia literally means the opposite of what she described….
Maybe she meant it like an unchangeable, steady high energy
Bodies in motion stay in motion, to bodies at rest stay at rest, that is what inertia means. Either one. In common parlance we usually mean the latter, but she actually uses the word correctly.
@@lydia9835 you wouldn't ever describe the word inertia to mean 'moving forward'
"Something about Mary" mmm what a classic...
Wow this made me miss Cameron Diaz
I loved her in - The Mask
She is still my Hollywood crush 😍
I miss her movies
Love her honesty
Love Cameron, so nice to see her after a long time 😊
Inertia - resistance to change, or lack of motion- e.g my constant requests at the government office couldn’t overcome the bureaucratic inertia. Props KH for asking, though I don’t think the response was accurate enough.
I love this video and I love Kevin Hart. CD is a favorite, too, but inertia means the opposite of what she told him. It means a tendency to do nothing (remain static). Kudos to him for asking but I wish she’d have used it properly.
Nice interview she's a gem .
I respect her decisions. Not many walk away with their dignity intact. I'll never forget how beautiful she looked in The Mask
I miss her in movies
i think she just wanted time to herself i understand
When you wanna be a person vs s personality. Congrats to Miss Diaz
Such a privilege to be able to just stop doing your job.
Yup. That's the life of a celebrity.
Yerp.👍🏾
i'd like to add "without the anxiety that comes with being unemployed." i mean i can quit my job whenever i want but...
You can do it if you set yourself up for success
The fact that we didn’t know she left is why.
The main thing being that when you have enough money any more that you do not need to work if you do not want to is probably the main factor.
inertia
1. a tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged.
Give me anything about Kevin and Diaz and I watch.😍
What a great channel.
Still love her entrance in the Mask ❤️👍
That is right ..
We are not machines we are humans and we nedd to do what humans should do to feel fulfilled .
1:12 "Who wrote those lines for you? Do you know what that means?" is more or less what he's thinking...
This is news to me that Cameron Diaz acted at a high level.
Inertia (definition): "a tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged."
inertia is the resistance of any physical object to any change in its velocity. This includes changes to the object's speed, or direction of motion. An aspect of this property is the tendency of objects to keep moving in a straight line at a constant speed, when no forces act upon them
She is so beautiful ❤️❤️
@KevinHeart Interview Demi Lavato please and ask her why she cut her hair 😵💫
She was a great actress , still beautiful wonder how her daughter looks 🤔 ❤😘
Not many woman can walk away from the Hollywood machine with their reputation in tact these days. All credit to her.
True
Plenty of women have.
What does that mean? Who’s reputation was ruined by walking away?
@@MiMi-wp3gu shia labeouf
Truth: she got old, and she wasn't getting offers anymore.
i love how he is actually listening to her unlike other hosts who have have a lot of questions but no patience
Same! A lot of hosts like Jimmy Kimmel & Fallon don't actually listen to their guests. I love how he just sat there and truly listened to her.
Kevin realized he doesnt know everything, so he listens. He is actually curious, which in turn make us really pay attention. Great host!
Ellen’s a perfect example of that
Ellen and Kelly😹
Women like this should be cherished, I applaud her for being real and out spoken about her choices for herself and family. Stepping away takes a lot but being true to ones self is a rare feat many can only hope to conquer. Shes happy and you can literally feel it when she talks.
It’s also important to note she’s stepping away because she CAN financially
@@auroramothergoddess yes she SAID that was her goal
@@patrick9440 no she doesn't and she is better look off financially than any of us combine no one likes hater.....
@@auroramothergoddess She was a decent actress but she relied on vanity & looks which is finite.
@@jasonablah7702 of course it’s a dude …always has to be a man hating on a woman
It's so refreshing to see a natural aging face on a celebrity.
You don't know that... !
She actually has had work done
getting old is a privilege not many get to experience in this life because they leave this world far too soon, we should look up to those who age gracefully
No one makes these comments on male celebrity videos.
She's had work done
I feel so out of touch. I didn’t even know she had officially retired. I’m glad she did it for herself and her family. Kinda sad there won’t be anymore movies from her, but she’s such an inspiration for following one’s heart/passion.
Same here
The last movie she made was Annie back in 2014.
Would be cool to see her back on screen but maybe on her own terms. And not a Marvel movie!
She’s making a new movie right now!!! Isn’t that exciting?
Cameron had her foot on the rom-com genres neck for years! She got tired of it basically. I love this lady sm her and Drew Barrymore
Ironically 2 of Charlie's Angels lol
What "sm" stands for?
@@mariamnawaz9855 so much
This is major facts
You surely did not know her movie “my sister’s keeper” haha
She’s one of those people who every time I see her manages to put a smile on my face, strange, she’s stunning, much wealthier than me not to mention that we are thousands of miles away, but I kinda relate to her, she’s so cool :)
I like her laugh it' feels so disarming. Others might find it annoying, not I.
@@Stefanio64 I thinks she has a very honest smile and laugh, like she doesn’t pretend that she’s having fun, she really is having fun, a Portuguese film critic interviewed her once and afterwards he said that she was one of the nicest actresses he had ever interviewed.
Sidenote, Kevin's honesty in not knowing a lot of words, so so appreciated. I love that he stopped to ask because I didn't know lol no shame here
Only she gave wrong definition of the word lol
@@jcru7866 Not really. She actually demonstrated a deep understanding of it. Inertia is mass, which is energy. Object with more mass have more resistance to change their speed.
@@juancpgo itmeans staying still or doing nothing she used it in a way that meant movement
Different words mean different things to different people. He's clever.
@@jcru7866 it resists change of movement. It can be moving and resists other forces that try to change its direction
It’s ok, folks. She likely meant “momentum” rather than inertia. She’s human- we’ve all done something like this before. :)
No she meant inertia, that's why she said it. 🙂
Lol I understand, I was just being annoying, all peace and love though
No, she meant momentum.
