LYRICS
Ten feet tall behind your wall
Telling yourself that you're not small
Roll yourself into a tight ball
You can't be lost if you've gone AWOL
You've never had one question
So comfortable living life so certain
Let me tell you about this then
No one really knows the truth
No not you
There are monsters in the sky
There are demons in the sea
I have seen them with my eyes
I've seen what you won't see
Pull the wool out from your eyes
It won't shade your frail belief
In the end we cannot hide
There are other worlds than these
Closed up minds are hearty seeds
So plant yourself a gallows tree
Bury your head so you won't see
The truth you hide is the truth you seek
Feed it fiction and lies
Oh, How it grows,
The roots are all shallow
Hide yourself up inside
And on it goes,
Reaping from the cell you sow
There are monsters in the sky
There are demons in the sea
I have seen them with my eyes
I've seen what you won't see
Pull the wool out from your eyes
It won't shade your frail belief
In the end we cannot hide
There are other worlds than these
Is it all an oddity?
Are we flakes of empty dust,
Spinning on a ball of rust?
Maybe
But the light is ours to see
You had eyes but sowed them shut,
But that feeling in your gut won’t fade
Is it all a tragedy?
Are we flashes in a rut,
Going in and out of luck?
Maybe
But the answers will not change
Even when they're covered up
All these questions in your gut
Won't fade
There are monsters in the sky
There are demons in the sea
I have seen them with my eyes
I've seen what you won't see
Pull the wool out from your eyes
It won't shade your frail belief
In the end we cannot hide
There are other worlds than,
Worlds than these

Ahh, wouldn't be a Starset song without an epic opening to the song
The intro already had me hooked.
it's probably my favorite part of the song; the eerie futuristic vibe sold it for me.
@@artistsonabudget9656 Same!!
Starset has so great futuristic vibes, feeds my creativity and works well to escape daily things ♡

The Hu did the same today in the early morning, a bunch of songs lol.

Another amazing song by one of the most underrated bands.
Not underrated to those who know about them
But yeah this should be on trending not some crap hip-hop stuff
I’ve seen them pop up in comments on other videos quite a lot these past months. They are getting a bit more known
Lol, underrated? How? Demons is one of the most recognizable songs ever by most people.
Devoutrelic Yeah, Demons was/is one of the top Rock and Starset songs, but that doesn’t mean Starset in its entirety is widely recognized

Exactly, Starset's bridges are always good, but this one's the best. Fun fact: Dustin's favorite part of a song is the bridge. I think we can definitely hear that :)
That part the best I've ever heard.

This is one of the best comments I've ever read, thanks for this XD
Wow, this is such a perfect description of his lyrical style. Thanks. Made me smile!
And the award for basically the only comment that isn't "I love it" or "Starset can't make a bad song" goes to you!

Excerpt:
His legs carried him in a sudden leap through the entropy that held him, above the dangling boy, into a skidding, plunging rush toward the light that offered, the Tower frozen on the retina of his mind's eye in a black frieze, suddenly silence, the silhouette gone, even the beat of his heart gone as the trestle settled further, beginning its final slow dance to the depths, tearing loose, his hand finding the rocky, lighted lip of damnation; and behind him, in the dreadful silence, the boy spoke from too far beneath him.
"Go then. There are other worlds than these."

Is it just me or have you had a spiritual awakening shortly after finding this band. I can't be the only on out there that feels the lyrics. Not only feels but witnesses.
Honestly. Starset makes such addicting music. Each and every song is unique in the feel and it's a full rollercoaster of feelings and thoughts. I'm listening to this album 3rd time today. This is fucking gold
one thing about starset that i hear nobody talk about is that it looks like fiction on the surface, but when you look around, you see how close we are to that so called "fiction". these songs, these music videos, these stories. it's not a hypothetical dystopian scenario. it's a warning. a warning that sends chills down my spine.
Same!...
Not just a warning. The deepest message can only be understood by those who are consciously awake
@@brennapartridge9405 what does this mean?
It's not a song it's a message...
There's something "particular" i want to share about this new album: Lately i've had some bad days at work, i'm very estressed and, also, depressed by a couple of situations with my boss and co-workers, i feel useless, sad, frustrated and a lot of negative shit, but, when it started to be worse, there was a notification, it was the trailer of "Manifest" (A late notification btw), and then... There it was, that song was so perfect, it made that shitty day better.
I'm not sure how, but every time it was a really bad day, there was a new song and that makes me happy and feels better.
I can surely say that Starset saved my days, so simple as it. Thank you so much.
--------
Gracias.
That's nice! I hope you're doing well.
Relying on pop culture to make you "feel better" is pathetic. Broadcasting it to thousands of strangers is even MORE pathetic. Make your own happiness.
@@spoofer44 For many people, listening to music is the only way for them to be happy. And especially to depressed people. You can't just tell people how to be happy, let them do what they want. And if that's choosing to listen to Starset, that's totally ok. I recommend you think otherwise than judging someone and trash talking someone on the internet.
I hope you're doing better. I do understand what you're saying, it does almost feel healing though.
My best friend (practically my boyfriend at this point) and I have dealt with depression and anxiety for quite a while, and Starset has always helped us fight against them and come closer together.

AMAZING SONG, AMAZING ALBUM, CONGRATRULATION STARSET. I LOVE THIS
i feel this song is more about looking through different perspectives than just your own, its about not acting so confident in your own belief that you don't look at it from multiple angles. which is something a lot of people need to learn these days.
“Are we flakes of dust, floating on a ball of rust, maybe”
They just don't miss
This song feels like an angry rant to people who insist planet Earth holds the only life in this universe and that we're the center of everything and cosmically important as if they know such things with certainty. As an agnostic, I love it and am made vaguely uncomfortable by it at the same time.
I agree. I like the interpretation.
I do tend to look into things too much, but my interpretation:
It's a revolt and protest against the people who defy the obvious, and maybe painful, truth. I'm not talking about Flat Earthers or space deniers, I'm talking more about teachers who ignore serious bullying, cruel family/friend/relationship issues, ignored abuse, victim shaming etc. The people who ignore vital topics that are incredibly damaging. *"I have seen what you won't see. Pull the wool out from your eyes"* , the person caught up in these issues, and the people spectating can clearly see the horrific acts and pain. *"Closed up minds"* : They're not open to looking at it from a different view. The teacher repeats: "there is NO bullying in this school" and the boyfriend/girlfriend repeats: "Things aren't as bad as they look". *"Bury your head, so you won't see. The truth you hide is the truth you seek"* , which I think is the most significant quote, really strengthens the previous quote, and shows how these people do it. They ignore what's happening in front of them, and all the negatives, only to bury themselves in their fantasy. They want to find out "why isn't things going well", while they refuse to acknowledge the real truth, and thus can never find the answer to their question.
@@thegamerpokemon5767 Ooh, I like your interpretation too. I love how open to interpretation Starset songs are, while also fitting into their narrative at the same time. They're always multi-layered. Like, I can take "Echo" as a song about someone addicted to his BMI at the expense of a real-world relationship, or I can take it as a song about real-life addiction to a harmful habit or substance. Like the alcoholic or gambling or heroin addict who feels on top of the world when partaking in their vice, meanwhile they are alienating their loved one. And they they either don't understand when that person finally leaves for the sake of self-preservation, or they know they have a problem but curse their loved one for "giving up on them too early." With "Perfect Machine," I can take it from the perspective of a New West higher-up singing about the BMI technology, or I can take it as a metaphor for a toxic relationship.
@@BriannaBanana1 Exactly! Starset does it so well. Their lyrics are specific; fitting to their narrative, but also layered; open to interpretation. I like your deep analysis of Echo, as I didn't even see into it that far. It makes sense to look at it that way. Perfect machine also feels like how society wants to see you. They ask you "how are you doing?", while they never expect an "I'm feeling awful", or get weirded out if you talk about dark topics too much, even If that's all you feel. *"I will use it to protect you from me"* .
I also feel like Waking Up can be interpreted like someone so deep in mental health problems, that it has caused a real sense of derealisation. *"I'm not waking up"* , because he's not asleep, it just feels like everything is a dream; nothing seems truly real.
My grandma doesn't go anywhere near the music I listen to but I showed her this (against her will) but she wanted to listen to more of it, she thought it was a bop. She found this band and Nico Collins music amazing and I was so happy.

The middle part is amazing

Когда я читаю научную фантастику про космос, всегда включаю на фон Starset

I'm a very science and logic based person and ever since losing my parents at a young age I have struggled horribly to maintain any kind of faith as badly as I have wanted to. And every time I begin to grasp onto some kind of hope, the intellectual pompous close-minded science community scoffs and belittles anyone that even slightly challenges their precious rules. But if you stop and really observe the world around you there are so many in-explainable events happening every day. I'm not talking about religion or bible verse's, I'm talking about toddlers that remember past events and people from before they were born on another side of the planet, about people whose brains are dead but are simultaneously making perfect memories, about statistically indisputable accuracy of someone meditating and remotely viewing through someone else. The awesome music sucked me in as usual but as soon as I heard:
Are we flakes of empty dust,
Spinning on a ball of rust?
Maybe
But the light is ours to see
You had eyes but sowed them shut,
But that feeling in your gut won’t fade
I felt my eyes widen and my pupils dilate and I immediately started the song over and listened closely and now I'm so pumped I feel like my head is going to explode. Realizing that your favorite band of all time feels the same way you do is such an amazing feeling!
No one really knows the truth
No not you
FUCK YEAH!! TELL-EM DUSTIN!!
I'm terribly sorry for your loss, and I hope you can find something to comfort you, to hold onto. But, religion... isn't the best option. Scientists probably seem closed-minded because innumerable (usually religious) people question everything they do - and not in the sense of curiosity. Vaccines, evolution, even Earth actually being round? Must be hoaxes. That gets real tiring real fast. Also, science hasn't really started wars (though it has won some), and science doesn't support racism/bigotry/homophobia/so much more. Religion, though... I truly hope you find what you're looking for. But, for your sake, it's best not to look for it in faith.
Finally, someone with the right idea. Modern day "scientists" can't be trusted, and the lie that they're perfectly open-minded is propagated everywhere. The truth is, they all have their own agendas and anything that disagrees with their viewpoint they dismiss or cover up. Religion isn't the cause of war, humans are. Or rather, their demons. If anyone says scientists don't wage war, ask them. Who creates atom bombs and weapons of mass destruction? If anything we need God in this world. No one really knows the truth, and that includes the pompous fools ruling us with the power of knowledge. If someone says you're crazy for questioning the scientific community, don't believe them. You're on the right track.
I can't even imagine à world without you
I love that the lyrics can have so many meanings, for me it’s the anxious feeling of being alone in the universe (I mean that earth could be the only planet consisting of life) and the thoughts that go into imagining what amazing other worlds could exist out there, while still having the fear of something unknown lurking in the depth of the universe. It’s kinda split between "I really wanna know if there’s something out there" and "what if I get lost or die on the way".
I often think about these things when I'm looking at the sky, and I think to myself: There must be some inhabitable planets out there.. but the human race probably isn't meant to go out there, cause we live in our safe space called earth and won’t likely discover anything outside the observable universe, which is kinda sad.
I think this song is about something along these lines.
This is the most beautiful comment I've seen but I do believe there is a possibility that there is life out there in the universe we just don't have the tech yet
"I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish, if facing a threat, from outside this world." -Stratosphere.
I love your comment. It can turn out so many different ways, that we either have no chance at all, or we are the ones who will find them first, or that they don't exist at all.
@@thegamerpokemon5767 President Reagan also used that quote while speaking to the UN in 1987 but added: an "alien" threat. I know some E.T.s are already here; many with positive intentions and some without. The "Galactic Federation" requests they don't interfere (with few exceptions) with a lower spiritually conscious civilization like us. We're doing a wonderful job destroying our planet and fellow beings. Thankfully, many E.T.s are attempting to help us with spiritual awakenings and ascensions to the 5th dimension. YT vids with Dr. Steven Greer will help elaborate on that "friendly bomb" I just dropped.
There are E.T.s here on Earth and plenty more elsewhere. I believe in the end it truly boils down to the spiritual worlds of light and dark and our ultimate choice. Dr. Steven Greer has many YT videos that elaborate on E.T.s (and a spirit/eye-opening documentary called "Unacknowledged"). He's spent decades working on "The Disclosure Project" and is all about revealing the truth. He has a guide to help Earthlings make peaceful, conscious contact with E.T.s, better known as the "CE5 Protocol" [Close Encounters of the 5th Kind]. Have hope, there are many beings determined to help us ascend into the 5th dimension. The choice is ours. God Bless.
nah, Humans aren't the only one at all. Space is just way too big. thanks to the expansions of the universe (dark energy or matter I believe, could be wrong about this one) is making it worse.
Galaxies are moving AWAY from the Milky Way at a VERY FAST RATE. the only exception is andromeda, which will collide with our galaxy. So yeah, if there is any life out there, and Humanity becomes advanced enough, we would have to FLEE the galaxy. if not, well...
Humanity either dies, by itself, The sun (will die in 5 billion years and will engulf the Earth in its flames.) or the galaxy colliding with andromeda. And all other lifeforms that are advanced like us will all die together. Sentience/consciousness, is not rare, animals have consciousness too. but it depends on their ability to display such consciousness, no matter how many species rise to complete sentience, like Humanity did, will it even matter in the long run? All living beings will die in the galaxy due to the collision anyway.
"Roll yourself into a tight ball, you can't get lost playing Sonic Spinball,".
That's been going through my brain for a few weeks now.
It's so amazing to notice the paradoxes of this band, this song is a clue reference to Transmissions and Vessels soundtracks, the sentence: "The are monsters in the sky", is a reference to the music "Monster", since the song is about losing you innocence, the road to become a monster and the consequences of it... The sentence: "There are demons in the sea", clue reference to "My demons", since the ship is sinking, the boat is undersea, means when you lost your identity, when you lost control and drowned, and your inner demons assume your vessel, I wished other bands cared that much for the lyrics and meaning like Starset does...
"There are monsters in the sky, there are demons in the sea" (Other worlds than these)
"There's no dreams in the waves, only monsters" (Unbecoming, Vessels)
Yes.
I hadn't started listening to a band where I like all their songs until I stumbled upon Starset back in 2014. Boy, am I glad that happens. Dustin is a freaking genius
Another reality where starset chooses the Album logo for the chorus, and the song cover for the pre-chorus and after-chorus
Thank you so much Dustin, Ron, Adam, Brock, and everyone else in the production of this and the other albums for your amazing music. It's getting many people through hard times, including me. Keep up the good work, and follow your dreams, no matter what they may be!
GOOSEBUMPS!!! I'm heading to space folk's!!!
Welcome
*Starset music is out of this world*
One of the best songs from Starset in my opinion!!!!!
The best song ever by Starset
In the end we cannot hide, there are other worlds than these.
That is not a line from a song, it is an unavoidable fact.
We are not alone.
You are blatantly ignorant if you believe otherwise.
Time always tells the tale.
The lyrics on this song are probably top 5 best writing from Dustin
ALL HAIL THE SPACE EXPANSION, LONG SHALL LIVE THE ETERNAL HEGEMONY OF HUMANITY
This song somehow rings so true to my heart, some people need to wake up and change their frail beliefs
One of the best songs on this album. ❤
Never has Starsets message been so potent in their works than it is presented here
No matter what, you will be the best in every dimesnsions.
this and diving bell epic ending to the album
sweet only 1 am 5 hours of starset left
Certified Banger! best part 0:06
That intro hit hard and then the voice and the lyrics just hits another way tooo
"The truth you hide is the truth you seek" is probably one of the most philosophical and metal lyrics I've ever heard
Ok. HOW did I not know how good this song was
"Are we things of empty dust
Spinning on a ball of rust"
Mars is covered with iron oxide, so basically rust. If I ever get to go there, this is what I am gonna play. 100%
Edit: word
Welp, goodbye sleep.
And hello DIVISIONS.
Starset is creating a division to your sleep 😂
Me: 🏃🚪
@@ouranhshc100 Damn, never thought of it that way. Nice one lmfao.
@@ouranhshc100 You beat me to the punch line
I swear this band makes the best bridges ever
Agree, agree👏
Starset‘s bridges are legendary
I agree, their bridges are consistently phenomenal beyond my ability to articulate.
I love how Starset explains reality in explicit terms and nobody cares.
let em be, it's not like we know the truth ourselves, i mean, what is truly "Truth" anyway? someone's truth, can be wrong to someone.
to me, its all a war of perspectives, a war of different worlds, different beliefs, different creeds, what i see of the world is different than what you may perceive
in a way, we are the same in one thing, we each live in our own worlds, shaped by others or ourselves. but you DO have a point. WE ARE in the end, not alone in the universe, but at the same time, all of us, all living things, Alien, human, animal,
are just empty flakes of dust, spinning in their own ball of a world. dying in what is the cosmic equivalent to not even a fraction of a second. Best we can do is just live and be ourselves.
