      Nikki is an awesome writer and lyricist. He was never the best bassist at all. But he has
      the height and handsome looks that the ladies loved so much!! The band is really special it's hard to understand the BS fued between them and Metallica in the early days. It was because the Crue had a glam aspect to it and Metallica hates it.

      @@metalmike570 I remember reading (and hearing on this channel no less) an article with the producer that did Girls Girls Girls and Shout ..., he said by the time they did Girls ... Nikki was a good bass player, he could play all the parts well. There's no excuse for him to 'phone it in' now, he's ripping off the fans. If he can't play live, then hang it up.

    • @metalmike570
      @metalmike570 9 месяцев назад

      @@pillsareyummy Why would he hang it up when they can support Def Leppard
      or another major act on the road. Really Motley Crue is a major act - I was a major fan and an amateur bassist myself. To this day I still play and I'm in a blues rock band right now - some of that is because of Nikki Sixx I was highly inspired at 18 years old in 1982; we copied them and played a few gigs out!!! I tried to spike my hair like his but I'm a way shorter dude, for Nikki a large part of his success is his look. Still those first two Motley Crue albums have a lot of nostalgia for many of us. I believe that's why they can sell out arenas now. Each member of that band is a star it's been said many times over the years - no different than the Beatles, but if you take out even one member and that's Mick Mars it just isn't the same. You can write off Motley Crue now they're done.
      The controversy of whether he's playing or using playback is a secondary thing. Mick is gone - is the real issue. Only someone that's been a fan as long as I have can see this. There is a few million of us that see it the way it is.

    • @metalmike570
      @metalmike570 9 месяцев назад

      @@pillsareyummy I agree with you; but I guess over the years he didn't practice his bass. I play bass myself and there could be a couple months when I don't practice.
      The bass does take practice I've known some amatuer musicians (singers and guuitarists) that think the bass is so easy. That's some BS.
      It's like Gene Simmons said "You think this is easy, let's see you do it." It shut those types up real quick.

    • @pillsareyummy
      @pillsareyummy 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@metalmike570 Mick was never a great lead player, however he wrote great riffs, and it's the riffs that make the great songs. Sixx also wrote a lot of their greatest hits. However, there's no excuse to use backing tracks, his bass lines aren't extremely difficult to preform. If I'm going to pay for a ticket, I want the music to be 'live'. In fact, Mars HATED the fact that the band were using backing tracks, he thought that was bullshit. Sixx isn't in his 80s, he not super old, there's no excuse for him to 'phone it in'. I love Shout ... as well as some of their other material.

Each human seems to believe he has a rare, deep, special connection. I’ve been playing guitar 40 years, jazz for 30 of those, and I was disappointed by John 5’s solo show, it was absolute silly trash and was devoid of any decent guitar playing altogether. But every day, each and every random person I interact with on the internet will automatically assume they know so much more. Guys that can’t play a fucking C chord will tell me ‘what’s up,’ at every turn. Btw I played in a jazz trio for a couple years with Kirk Covington, from Tribal Tech, they’re an LA fusion band. But yeah everyone just makes the most grandiose claims of knowing ‘everything music.’

      I have many peers who push me to record my "creations" because they know that it's real and not a cheap imitation of someone else's creation. Mick Mars truly expressed himself, and that is extremely hard to do. EVH expressed himself and did not imitate anyone else. We learn from others to hone the idea and skills, but TRUE art comes from within the spirit. You can not teach TRUE ART. It has be with in us. We are all creators if we tap into who we are as an individual.

      As he should. They have the audacity to just throw him a 5% crumb after 40 fucking years and say that's more than generous. Scumbags. There'd be no Motley in the first place without him.

    I would not call going to the Crue as a step up. Quite the opposite. Their day has come and gone. Many moons ago.

    I'm sorry John 5 is a really good guitar player,but Motley Crue is nothing without Mick Mars. Mick had been with Motley since the beginning (don't go with what the movie The Dirt says) and it is time Motley Crue hung it up and called it a day. I mean how many times has The Crue gone and replaced members where it was proven it only worked with the original four?

    It's astounding that a musician as talented as John could have any respect at all for the music of Motley or any desire whatsoever to be in that atrocious band. On the other hand this may all simply be about the payday for him and he's just playing up his "excitement" for PR reasons.

      John 5 is a paint by numbers guitar player. Nothing innovative. Nothing creative. Nothing interesting. Just a boring player and the guitar tone he's using for Motley is all wrong. Motley is a strat through a Marshall 2203 cranked. Huge nods to the guitar heroes of the 60's and 70's in Mick's tone and playing which was part of his magic and the appeal of the Motley sound. Mick had soul.

    Y'all on here acting like Motley just now started sucking because Mick left. Mick hasn't played on any Crue records since the Carabi record, Nikki hasnt written a good song since Dr. Feelgood and when is the last time ANYONE has walked out of a Crue show NOT saying how horrible Vince sounded? That's been happening since the Shout at the Devil tour. John 5 has played on more Crue records than Mick Mars since Vince returned. They've been using backing tracks since their 1987 tour. Everyone just loves 80's era Crue so much that they cant admit to themselves that they were tricked and ripped off by those poseurs for decades. I compare the people who go see Crue live today with the dumbasses who pay money to see the new fake Pantera. I will say though, that at least John 5 is playing Micks solo's note for note.... Where Zakk Wylde is just wiping his ass with Dimebag's riffs and solo's and shitting on and destroying Pantera's legacy. At least John has respect for Mick and Crue fans. Zakk and Charlie are just getting a paycheck and can care less that they sound like dogshit. Something they weren't really getting because nobody cares about Anthrax and Black label anymore. Paying money to go see Motley Crue is like paying money to have 4 guys stand in front of you spitting in your face for 3 hours as they point and laugh then for an encore they shit on the stage and rub your nose in it. The funniest part to me is that they are filling up stadiums in every city. These people are paying tons of money to go see a concert that they know is going to suck...nuts.

      John 5 plays Mick’s solos note for note because that’s all he knows how to do. He’s good at copying other people’s playing.

    Motley Crue was never good live, but now they are absolute trash. John 5 is jumping into the coffin just before the nails get pounded in.
