I think this is one of the best GDQ runs that has ever occurred. Kinda nervous runner executes almost every tech/glitch almost perfectly, she and the couch work and play with the crowd well, the host isn't given too much time but is respectful of it, good donations occur that bounce off the gameplay, advertising plug that naturally worked on top of everything else. Like... I'm following this lady on Twitch now, I dig it!
I’ve seen a lot of speedruns of this game and this was nothing short of phenomenal, given it was all in one take and with people watching on top of that? SmoothOperative should be really proud of herself for achieving such a clean run, nailing the hardest glitches.
One of the best GDQ runs ever. Fantastic informative commentary, got to see so many cool tricks (I had no idea you could dupe the prayer wheel to skip the entire Monastery level) and everyone was just having fun with it, the crowd making the sounds the mercenaries make when you run them over was hilarious. SmoothOperative, you should be really proud of this run.
I wonder if your friend let him out on purpose. The old tomb raider ai and collisions doesnt allow for a moveable (non lara object) to cross through a portal if its shut, the meshes might clip through but theres no thoroughfare unless the door is triggered open.
I never knew I needed a 'speedrun' of a Tomb Raider game in my life until now. Thank you RUclips algorithms for bringing me here because this was amazing to watch.
Damn SmoothOp nailed every trick almost in one go, amazing skills! I just remember my younger self stumbling through the first few levels before giving up haha. Also nice couch commentary, you guys made this a really entertaining run together.
32:16 "Damn girl, you stealin' my stuff?" omg lol I watched that several times. Not only is she a master of the game, but she's incredibly charismatic and charming. This was an amazingly positive experience for me. The couch helped out a lot too, there was a lot of good chemistry flowing between everyone!
Was really sad I couldn't stay up late to watch this live, TR 2 was a game I spent so much time on as a kid. Big thanks to GDQ for putting it up on RUclips! What an amazing run, and wonderful commentary by Tippy and the couch!
Beautiful, beautiful run. SmoothOperative's lack of confidence is adorable, but absolutely not needed--that was a very skilled, technical run and it was a dream to watch.
busy week with uni applications and exams. wasn't able to watch this live but it's the perfect thing to destress with; my favourite game of all time. so glad to see more tomb raider at gdq :) smoothoperative is a very skilled runner, and so cool to see beckski back again!
41:49 I always loved this soundtrack when you pick the snowmobile. This was one of the first games I played with my first PC... seeing all the amazing glitches to skip areas kinda makes me mad since I remember all the time it took me to complete every single level.
It is honestly refreshing to see such a good runner of Tomb Raider, and such a talented commentator joined with the couch. It was a very good run! Go her indeed!
Absolutely great run. Never seen the game run so smooth. Played this game as a kid but I never made it past Venice so I was looking forward to this run so I could see the rest of the game. Great run for being your first time.
I just finished the game for the first time after having dropped it when I was a child due to the puzzles being too hard for my brain. Also, the platforming on this game needs some serious skills. When I finally beat the game I felt that my life was complete, but then I saw this speedrun and thought: "I have yet much to learn."
I remember my sister and I playing this game. We would alternate so one of us would read the strategy guide and the other would play. So much fun to watch and now I've got to find my copy to play 😍
The whole run was a blast :D you're a great runner and I enjoyed the whole thing and I did hold my breath and you didn't say we can release it :P that trick is crazy by the way first time I saw it and you got it first try! :D
That 'gotta check and see how many spices we have b'coz we are about to do some cooking' comment went totally over everyones heads. That was perfectly executed comedy gold!
Never got to finish this game as a kid, too hard. And still now it is ridiculously complicated, it probably gave nightmares to many people. Developers used to be so cruel back then shit was hard
Fun fact: every version of Tomb Raider 1 - 5 except the PAL one has you play as Tall Lara, because the game's engine was originally designed to run on a PAL screen.
At depth of 40 fathoms - or around 72 metres - you'd have the pressure of about 7 atmospheres. Apparently, a person once spent 30 days in such conditions, so assuming that Lara is well trained (and she is), it seems it would be relatively reasonable for her to survive couple hours under such water pressure.
Runner introduction starts at 1:07.
Run starts at 1:47.
Couch Commentary is provided by Maxylobes, Beckski93, and Midge
BIGHONKINBURGER is the host.
BIGHONKINBURGER is a great name.
damn who would've thought there was an entire game past the cave with the 2 tigers and the mansion..
Hahhahaha, right!? I only know the later levels from level skipping and all guns.
@Sweedish hours spent jumping on the mat in the gym practising weapon pull outs
Same
And locking the butler in the fridge.
I used to be terrified of the butler as a kid 😂

Smoothoperative's and couch's commentary are on point. Had a blast with one of my childhood's games's speedrun!
I’ve seen a lot of speedruns of this game and this was nothing short of phenomenal, given it was all in one take and with people watching on top of that? SmoothOperative should be really proud of herself for achieving such a clean run, nailing the hardest glitches.
One of the best live commentaries to date, this and Beckski's TR1 run. So chill yet so warm and entertaining

Dang, she had some really good runner RNG. Damn respectable time as well for a live speedrun on GDQ
Honestly watched this run about 20 times. The commentary, nostalgia and the run itself make it a really enjoyable watch.
"Shout-outs to Lara's biggest fan." I just had to clap for that one.
I didn't get it :(
@@limonada4347 The fan of the ship...."Biggest fan".....
@@limonada4347 19.10 I didnt either at first but you will see the big huge fan there...Lara's biggest fan lol
Doors and walls are just a gentle suggestion in this I see. That explains how the butler used to get out of the freezer my friend would put him in.
Just discovered Smoothoperative. Thoroughly enjoyed this run, excellent job.
I loved everything about this, the commentary, the run, everything was perfect. I didn't see the time pass, thanks SmoothOperative:)
My favorite speed run viewing ever. Swear

Smooth is such a god gamer. The commentary and everything was great. That was awesome to watch

Great job smothoperative, this was entertaining, for those wondering, Her current PB is 1:03:56, and the current record for this category is 52:13.
Beautiful, beautiful run. SmoothOperative's lack of confidence is adorable, but absolutely not needed--that was a very skilled, technical run and it was a dream to watch.

She made it through the whole game in the same amount of time that it took me to go through 1 1/2 levels in this game.
Beckski and smoothoperative make these tomb raider runs great. Both runs them and the couch are fun while being informative about the run.
I barely ever manage to watch full runs but the glitches and jokes kept me glued to my screen. Good job on this one!
this is one of the most enjoyable runs I've ever watched.
Loved the run. Great runner and great couch. Love how this run was so silly but also technical. And the crowd HYPE
GDQ where "that never happens" always happens!
It was my first game on ps1! Amazing memories. Thanks you for this speed run
I believe it was my first game on PS1 aswell! Just about to watch the run for the memories.
My first one along with Abe's Oddyssey! Wonderful memories.
41:49 I always loved this soundtrack when you pick the snowmobile.
This was one of the first games I played with my first PC... seeing all the amazing glitches to skip areas kinda makes me mad since I remember all the time it took me to complete every single level.
Tippy smashed it ❤️
Beckski93 Your commentary was great as well! :3

Smooth is a really good runner, holy wow.
13:02 Love the look of relieve into the camera. Great run!
Coming to this late, but this was really superb! SmoothOperative was indeed a smooth operative and the couch were great. All in all great stuff!
Replaying this with the remaster and it's as fun as I remember.
Absolutely great run. Never seen the game run so smooth. Played this game as a kid but I never made it past Venice so I was looking forward to this run so I could see the rest of the game. Great run for being your first time.
Well, you didn't really see the whole game 🙈

The early tomb raider games were always mega hard, took so much time to get through them they almost became unenjoyable
Super good run and commentary. Big up for the nighttime crowd.
Great run/commentary!
That was really fun to watch!
Wow, awesome run Smooth! :)
That run was super cool. I am sorry I missed it live.
1:17 Sounds like she's asking, "Who's ready for Terminator 2?".
Which would be me. I'm always ready for Terminator 2.
JustAnotherPest dude the Terminator 2 soundtrack though 😂 so good
Killer run! You rock SmoothOperative!
I've never played these games before but Smooth was very skilled and entertaining so I decided to watch the whole thing!
Great run, even greater runner. I really enjoyed the commentary :)
Great job, the runner did fantastic despite her nervousness, skillful and engaging
That was fun. Thank you so much!
51:42 My favorite part in this level. This looks so amazing.
That 'gotta check and see how many spices we have b'coz we are about to do some cooking' comment went totally over everyones heads. That was perfectly executed comedy gold!
Great speedrun, funny and talented speedrunner
That jump scare though 35:46
smoothoperative did a hella job :D the confidence in those glitches is unreal ^_^
Great run. Super fun commentary too.
Great run Loved this and she's really sweet. My favourite tomb raider!
That was so much fun to watch, I laughed at The Yetee plug during the winter levels that was funny! xD
You're great at It, give yourself a lot if credit! Used to stay stuck in the cave with 7 years old, with 10 I killed the dragon Lol
3:58 I didn't recognize the spider and I thought the crow had hust pooped here
Never got to finish this game as a kid, too hard. And still now it is ridiculously complicated, it probably gave nightmares to many people. Developers used to be so cruel back then shit was hard
Good run, if you read this who did the run, you are much much better then you think you are, was very fun to watch it!
just memories
Great run (nearly 35mins faster than Feasel's from a few years back), entertaining commentary
Excellent run! Love your work!
Fun fact: every version of Tomb Raider 1 - 5 except the PAL one has you play as Tall Lara, because the game's engine was originally designed to run on a PAL screen.
I like to call her squished Lara but tall works too 😆 luckily when I played the PS1 versions of TR1 and 2 I used a setting in the emulator to fix that
Amazing Job for an amazing game! Ahhhhh Dear childood!!!

Really great run this, very difficult game too, even casually
What a wonderful speedrun 😊
Can't Stop
Won't QWOP
Great run!
