Not just for weed but any addiction. Just tell yourself everyday “one day more.” I have a mindset of trying to be 1% better than I was yesterday. I won’t lie and say I don’t have any cravings. I do some days. But the urge/thought goes as quickly as it comes. Also enjoy the moment more. Your brains pleasure center is fried so it’s gonna be tough at first. Go on walks, read a book, spend time on a healthy hobby you enjoy. Meditation helps A LOT too. It’s life changing in so many different ways. I’m 217 days sober today! You got this!! @@I_Am_Dave_ I hate that cannabis is so good. I first took it because it satisfied a curiosity of mine and when it became legal in my home state i did it frequently. Got my parents mad. Its a struggle cuz i see other people doing them and they trying to tell me how to do me. I enjoy weed a lot. The euphoria helps me cope with the bs of life and drama and people. It is like a world i hate leaving from. Music sounds a whole lot better. I feel connected. I still cling to the resentments of girls constantly rejecting me and things always not going in my favor. Yet when i am in my high i feel protected from the world. I am 31 and weed has helped embrace being misunderstood, labeled, rejected, outcasted. As like people, im dealing with the hard part of it.

I’m officially 5 days sober, Ik it’s not much, but I’m REALLY happy for myself because I was STRUGGLING to stop :) idk how, but this past Tuesday as I was lighting the rest of what I had, I thought to myself “this is it.”, smoked it, and then just…..stopped. Idk why, but this time it was easier than all the other times, and I don’t really have the urge to smoke like I use too.
The next step for me now is to make a doctors appointment, so I can see if there has been any damage to my throat and lungs since I was smoking weed and backwoods for 5 years now :’)
Edit: just wanted to say I’m 3 weeks sober from smoking! :)
I also wanna add, through time, I was able to find out the ACTUAL reason why I smoked- it was due to a specific person making me angry/raising my anxiety to the point where I WANTED to smoke. Whenever I’m not around them, the urge to do it isn’t really there tbh.

I quit smoking 11 days ago. I was a heavy daily user for almost 2 years, joints a day along with carts, concentrates at night etc etc. I was prescribed Zoloft for my anxiety but now I realize it was weed that did it to me all along, I started taking Zoloft when I quit because I was hoping it would help me feel better, the last time I smoked I had a severe panic attack I had visual hallucinations while I was showering I thought I was seeing faint rainbow lines on the wall everywhere I looked. This was after taking my 25mg Zoloft which I had just started a day or so prior, I do not know why I took it and then smoked but I believe something bad happened then. The panic attack that ensued after this was like nothing I’ve ever experienced I could only sit down and say I’m gonna be ok over and over and then eventually I passed out in my bed. I have not touched it since then. Over the past few days my withdrawals have gone from cravings to now I feel like I’m manic, I stopped the Zoloft after 7 days because I felt depersonalization and figured it was a side effect from that but now I think it’s more from the weed. I’m worried I messed myself up permanently I just hope there’s light at the end of the tunnel because it’s scary not feeling like yourself anymore I feel like a shell. This stuff is not a joke guys I hope if you read this to take it seriously, I was a heavy heavy user and it ruined my life at the moment.

I think I definitely will have some long term mental problems from this that I hope therapy can help me with, I do not want to be on any medication. I’ve also realized that being sober is a good thing and that when we get stoned we’re just throwing spray paint on top of a rusty car hoping it helps when in fact you’re still rotting away underneath the whole time.

The first days of quitting are the worst , but after that first few days you gradually start to feel better , speaking from experience. You’ll save more money and it’s better for your health, you have to decide that enough is enough , It’s a mental thing but you’re more than capable. Believe in yourself . It’ll be worth it.

my rule is to respect everything that releases dopamine. such as food, drugs, alcohol… literally anything, even any activity. once you’re addicted, it ruins the fun of it and the only way out is to quit, and then if you do it again after 6 months of not doing this addiction (whatever it is), it will never be the same again and it will bring you anxiety and negative feelings. I went through I psychosis too and had to be hospitalized. The worse thing is I didn't improve, if anything I worsened my usage. I've had some symptoms here and there but since I now recognize them I'm able to keep myself grounded and recognize when I need to get grounded. Now I'm good but I've built a tolerance I think, and I'm slowly preparing to quit. Even thinking of combining it with quitting ciggies so I only have to go through one withdrawal period (I hope that's how it works). Fear is a big factor here, scared of the physicality, scared of perhaps going into a psychosis again, but I think I can trust myself to stay grounded. Scared of the emotional roller-coaster that's bound to happen. But, oh well. It is what it is, I guess. (TW: sitting here while I'm supposed to be smoking my last one. Deep down I feel/fear like there's no way that can be true. But there's another feeling deep down that wants to prove that other feeling wrong. Out of spite perhaps. My parts be sassy towards each other haha, I should remember this)
Hopefully I can come back to update. I'll send this to myself so I can reread in 24h and hopefully update.

I quit 15th Sept 2022 after just over 3 years of daily smoking. It was horrific, but I had done it once before when I was addicted years earlier, so I knew I just had to prepare to feel like shit (no words can describe it) for a couple of weeks to get through the worst of it; then about 3 months before I started to feel free of the cravings. In that time I allowed myself to eat anything I wanted - you’ve got to give yourself grace because it’s hard to quit weed. Weed was keeping me held in place, making me feel better but stopping me from making real change to improve my life. If you want to quit, when you start to struggle just hold on, remind yourself that if you give in you’ll have to do the dreadful first day or two or 5 or whatever all over again. For me that was a BIG help to stay away from it. And remember, you can never just have “one smoke”. You have to stay away for good. It’s like cigarettes (or alcohol for alcoholics) - an addiction is an addiction forever & it only takes one smoke to rekindle that, and it will suck you back in. Take back control of your brain! 💪🏻
