  • This video shows you how to fix your Service Park Assist Warning Message on a 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche. This process is nearly the same across all GM and Chevy vehicles.
    Be sure to have a helper put the vehicle in reverse with the parking brake on and their foot on the brake pedal. Don't get yourself run over.

    And for anyone who don't have a code reader but wants to check if their sensors are working, just put your vehicle in reverse and turn the key to the start position (don't start the motor) and apply your parking brake then go and put your ear up against each sensor and if you hear a clicking or ticking noise the sensor is good and working

      I did this... All four sensors are ticking. So either this isn't a valid method to determine if a sensor is actually dead, or there's a fault somewhere else.

    • @MrAntonyperez
      @MrAntonyperez 2 года назад +3

      @@cup_and_cone if all the sensors are emitting the ticking noise they are not dead but one or more maybe out of line. For example my truck had bumper damage near one of the sensors and had shifted out of position but was almost impossible to tell but after checking the wiring and clips that hold the sensor I found one ever so slightly angled and after adjusting it back to its correct position the park assist function worked perfectly again. Not sure if this will help you since you give no info of your systems issues

      @cup_and_cone 2 года назад +3

      @@MrAntonyperez My system is working again. My bumper was repainted years ago and when the shop did it they resprayed over the sensors. The paint started peeling from the sensors because of the rubber surrounds expanding and contracting over time. I carefully removed the respray paint from the sensors, while leaving the original factory paint, and now it's working fine. I'm wondering if the metallic in the paint maybe was interfering somehow. Also the 'service park assist' warning stayed on for a few starts after I did the fix, which threw me off thinking it wasn't fixed when it was.

      @@cup_and_cone that's great news, yeah that was something I was going to ask in my last reply but forgot when I was explaining the issue I had lol. Those sensors are really pretty sensitive, it's not the metallic paint, even a little mud will throw them off every now and again.

      There are a few things that need to be checked, did they paint over the new sensors? Are they plugged in correctly? What codes are you getting? For all sensors or just one? Are you getting codes or does it just constantly beep!

Strange thing is, when I connect our trailer it will beep first, then pop up service parking assist. Also, am I checking for 8v at blue wire of each sensor?

      Hey Stephen, after I repaired the failed sensor the code went away. I also did an all module scan and erase. There was a guy who commented on here earlier @antony perez
      "And for anyone who don't have a code reader but wants to check if their sensors are working, just put your vehicle in reverse and turn the key to the start position (don't start the motor) and apply your parking brake then go and put your ear up against each sensor and if you hear a clicking or ticking noise the sensor is good and working

      Seems like good details. Be sure to use wheel chocks be on a flat surface and for extra safety have someone in the truck who can press the brake pedal if need be!

    • @pomz3604

      The service warning disappears once all sensors are firing.
      Turn key to on, don't start the engine! Put it in reverse, (chock wheels first) using a stethoscope or the sound recorder on your phone, press against each sensor. You should hear tick-tick-tick at each sensor. If one doesn't tick try swapping sensors to confirm if bad sensor or bad wiring to sensor. Mine was just a bad connection at one sensor. I cleaned the pins and all good!
