Perfection is a myth. My husband is far from perfect but so am I. 43 years later, I wouldn't trade him for the world. He's the pain in my butt, and the love of my life. He's the only person that can make me laugh through my tears. I hope that I do the same for him. Yes, perfection is a myth but love isn't. But, that's just my opinion.

I’ve been married 32 years. If you take away the music and simply read the text, like others, I come to two possible conclusions, neither very flattering to the woman’s character: 1) Her “love” seems quite conditional - his steady presence and support alone were not enough. She needed to feel that he desperately needed her to feel ratified, or satisfied. 2). As no grievances were voiced, she seems either fickle in her affection, or one questions her love for him to begin with. Beware of people who always seem to feel: “what have you done for me lately”, and who can’t remember the reasons you won their affections in the first place.

Every time I feel I'm not feeling loved, I sit down and sift through the memories of our life together. The time his mother tried to force him to divoce me, for what ever her reasons, and he told her No! He loved me and was happy with me. The times he was there when I needed him. He was there by my side when I faced Cancer, twice. I had surgery, twice, for cancer, two seperate times, years apart. We stood together no matter what we had to face, together. We have been together over 40 years and I love him more now than ever. I thank God I have a loving husband, and I try to let him know how much I love him. We have been together through thick and thin, and it has beenworth everything to me. He is my second husband and I am his third wife. I would not take anthing for the life I have had with him. At times I have thought about the things the wife thought about in this story, but I knew I love him too much to ever leave him, and I know he loves me just as much. I met him when I wasabout 26 --27 yrs old I am now 71 and will be with him as long as we live. It wasn't always easy, but it was worth everything. I thank God every day I found him and he found me. Love takes many forms. Romance is all very well but it is not love. A few nights ago on a cold frosty evening I heard the pump start and run for a bit too long. The pipe had fractured. So I had to dismantle bits and fix it. In the cold. While my wife slept. She never has to worry where the water comes from. It is simply there. I never have to wonder where a meal comes from. It is always made with love. Each of us takes on tasks. Boring, difficult, unpleasant even dangerous. Yet without hesitation. Because caring for each other isn't always easy but it is always worthwhile. And then together we share the fruits of our efforts and we KNOW that we are loved.

My husband and I have been married 52+ years. The way we express love has changed over time. I have MS and he does many things around the house that I can no longer do. He does them without being asked. He goes to specialty stores to get my favorite cheese and candy to surprise me. He shows me the depth of his love every day in ways much different than when we were newlyweds. I am so blessed to be married to such a thoughtful, supportive man. When he needs something he mentions it once and I get it for him. I prepare his favorite foods even when I'm not fond of them. We can still make each other laugh. We know we can depend on each other emotionally in new ways every year.
Divinity in a relation is enforced if there is a deep mental attachment which is beyond all physical pleasures..this bond is quite revealed in age old couple in a wedlock for years...their chemistry is the Real love which is sublimed to souls..if it's a true & a Blessed Bond...even if the couple lacks physical relation..it is wholesome..for both...definitely God has a Supreme place in a wedlock be it for a day or for years ahead in keeping the furnace of love alight..here on earth or be it in heaven..I'm writing this as a divorcee.. My boyfriend sends me flowers. He did it pretty often until I told him not to because he’s far away and that makes them more expensive when they’re delivered. That’s just one way he shows his love. I was married once before. We’re both widowed. I didn’t have a good marriage, so I know what to watch for. God put this new man in my path. I didn’t think I needed anyone. I still know I can function on my own. But, a love like his is priceless. It’s not the material things. It’s how we treat each other and our dedication to each other. I love him. I know we were left behind to find each other and be happy. He will be my husband some day, when I ask him!

I thought this was like my life story at the start as I am an engineer, as solid, reliable and loyal as you will find. But I am useless at showing how much I still love her 30 years on. I'd say she only realises about 10% of the love I feel. That's my fault, not hers. I do make some very big and expensive but infrequent romantic jestures. It would be better I think in hindsight if I did less but more often. My excuse is that I internalise everything and carry a huge amount of stress. Never able to relax and enjoy the moment. Thankfully, there is a lot more depth to her than the woman in this story. She has stuck with me through thick and thin. I would definitely die for her if it saved her life.

We both have very stressful jobs so I never want to unload the stress on her as (a) I think she has enough already and (b) I don't want to relive the day again. I just want to do something around the house and chill a bit like now on RUclips. She sometimes starts to unload her stress but it only winds her up more as well. But perhaps we both should be unloading the stress on each other. The show of affection thing is also great thing if it works. I found though that she aways dismisses compliments from anyone including me and this has got worse over the years, she calls me blind or stupid if I say she looks well. By the way, she looks very well for her age. If I buy her flowers, she will say I'm wasting money. She will sometimes say nice things about me to friends or relatives when she thinks I'm not listening. In hindsight, instead of having her on a pedestal, I should have challenged her more on her resistance to compliments and romantic jestures. Our adult children are much better at challenging her. In an argument, she will argue to the death. The children live mostly away, so they can argue for a time with her and then leave. I don't have that option and I would not leave her other that in a wooden box.
She has the best husband there is for her. Apparently she hasn’t experience what one has until she loses it. Fortunately she realizes it in time before she lost him to someone else.
You can't be wishy washy when it comes to choosing a life long mate and it's a long long 'journey' while together for all you know it won't be a smooth journey. So before you start the journey you need to open both your eyes to see if you have a worthy companion--a worthy choice.You need character and grit to complete that long journey together while sticking to your choice .......As the saying goes , '' The course of true love never did run smooth '' It's a marathon !

Romance is very important in a marriage too. Never give up on it. I know this is going to sound crazy, but - he shld hv offered to pick the flower. Then, she wld hv been allowed to make her decision most honestly. Just to divert the question like that, means that she gives up on what she holds most dear and accepts what he has decided for her.
If you feel bored thats no reason to end your relationship. Just do some different things. When you have been white water rafting, mountain climbing, tried some unfamiliar cuisine, been deep sea diving, joined a choir, taken up Latin American dance, gone caving, taken up wildlife conservation work & astronomy. Then if you are still bored, then you can start to talk about your relationship.

Thank you for this beautiful story. Sometimes we get so weighed down with the everyday routine we forget what we in our spouses. Sovmtimes we need to be reminded. Every time I feel I'm not feeling loved, I sit down and sift through the memories of our life together. The time his mother tried to force him to divoce me, for what ever her reasons, and he told her No! He loved me and was happy with me. The times he was there when I needed him. He was there by my side when I faced Cancer, twice. I had surgery, twice, for cancer, two seperate times, years apart. We stood together no matter what we had to face, together. We have been together over 40 years and I love him more now than ever. I thank God I have a loving husband, and I try to let him know how much I love him. We have been together through thick and thin, and it has beenworth everything to me. He is my second husband and I am his third wife. I would not take anthing for the life I have had with him. At times I have thought about the things the wife thought about in this story, but I knew I love him too much to ever leave him, and I know he loves me just as much. I met him when I wasabout 26 --27 yrs old I am now 71 and will be with him as long as we live. It wasn't always easy, but it was worth everything. I thank God every day I found him and he found me. We are blessed by the good Lord in our life. I hope my story and this story , The Great Marriage, blesses someone in their life. Just rely on the good Lord to help you in your life.

Love takes many forms. Romance is all very well but it is not love. A few nights ago on a cold frosty evening I heard the pump start and run for a bit too long. The pipe had fractured. So I had to dismantle bits and fix it. In the cold. While my wife slept. She never has to worry where the water comes from. It is simply there. I never have to wonder where a meal comes from. It is always made with love. Each of us takes on tasks. Boring, difficult, unpleasant even dangerous. Yet without hesitation. Because caring for each other isn't always easy but it is always worthwhile. And then together we share the fruits of our efforts and we KNOW that we are loved.

My husband and I have been married 52+ years. The way we express love has changed over time. I have MS and he does many things around the house that I can no longer do. He does them without being asked. He goes to specialty stores to get my favorite cheese and candy to surprise me. He shows me the depth of his love every day in ways much different than when we were newlyweds. I am so blessed to be married to such a thoughtful, supportive man. When he needs something he mentions it once and I get it for him. I prepare his favorite foods even when I'm not fond of them. We can still make each other laugh. We know we can depend on each other emotionally in new ways every year.
Divinity in a relation is enforced if there is a deep mental attachment which is beyond all physical pleasures..this bond is quite revealed in age old couple in a wedlock for years...their chemistry is the Real love which is sublimed to souls..if it's a true & a Blessed Bond...even if the couple lacks physical relation..it is wholesome..for both...definitely God has a Supreme place in a wedlock be it for a day or for years ahead in keeping the furnace of love alight..here on earth or be it in heaven..I'm writing this as a divorcee.. I witness the bond of love of my parents...It all flickers with Blessings from Heaven..
My boyfriend sends me flowers. He did it pretty often until I told him not to because he’s far away and that makes them more expensive when they’re delivered. That’s just one way he shows his love. I was married once before. We’re both widowed. I didn’t have a good marriage, so I know what to watch for. God put this new man in my path. I didn’t think I needed anyone. I still know I can function on my own. But, a love like his is priceless. It’s not the material things. It’s how we treat each other and our dedication to each other. I love him. I know we were left behind to find each other and be happy. He will be my husband some day, when I ask him!

Tears are rolling down my eyes
I thought this was like my life story at the start as I am an engineer, as solid, reliable and loyal as you will find. But I am useless at showing how much I still love her 30 years on. I'd say she only realises about 10% of the love I feel. That's my fault, not hers. I do make some very big and expensive but infrequent romantic jestures. It would be better I think in hindsight if I did less but more often. My excuse is that I internalise everything and carry a huge amount of stress. Never able to relax and enjoy the moment. Thankfully, there is a lot more depth to her than the woman in this story. She has stuck with me through thick and thin. I would definitely die for her if it saved her life.

We both have very stressful jobs so I never want to unload the stress on her as (a) I think she has enough already and (b) I don't want to relive the day again. I just want to do something around the house and chill a bit like now on RUclips. She sometimes starts to unload her stress but it only winds her up more as well. But perhaps we both should be unloading the stress on each other.
The show of affection thing is also great thing if it works. I found though that she aways dismisses compliments from anyone including me and this has got worse over the years, she calls me blind or stupid if I say she looks well. By the way, she looks very well for her age. If I buy her flowers, she will say I'm wasting money. She will sometimes say nice things about me to friends or relatives when she thinks I'm not listening.
In hindsight, instead of having her on a pedestal, I should have challenged her more on her resistance to compliments and romantic jestures. Our adult children are much better at challenging her. In an argument, she will argue to the death. The children live mostly away, so they can argue for a time with her and then leave. I don't have that option and I would not leave her other that in a wooden box.
She has the best husband there is for her. Apparently she hasn’t experience what one has until she loses it. Fortunately she realizes it in time before she lost him to someone else.

So before you start the journey you need to open both your eyes to see if you have a worthy companion--a worthy choice.You need character and grit to complete that long journey together while sticking to your choice .......As the saying goes , '' The course of true love never did run smooth '' It's a marathon !

What a bundle of insecurities, I am astonished that her husband stood it for so long. She needs psychological help like the day B4 yesterday.

I also struggled with this kind of problem till 2014. I got an answer after being true to myself. And God alone is the only Truth. Romance is very important in a marriage too. Never give up on it. I know this is going to sound crazy, but - he shld hv offered to pick the flower. Then, she wld hv been allowed to make her decision most honestly. Just to divert the question like that, means that she gives up on what she holds most dear and accepts what he has decided for her.
If you feel bored thats no reason to end your relationship. Just do some different things. When you have been white water rafting, mountain climbing, tried some unfamiliar cuisine, been deep sea diving, joined a choir, taken up Latin American dance, gone caving, taken up wildlife conservation work & astronomy. Then if you are still bored, then you can start to talk about your relationship.
