Dbz is so epic it’s spanned generations and influenced millions of kids like my self who where born in the 90s..some many good memories…I remember never knowing if Freeza was a girl or guy and trying to do kamayamaya as a little kid thinking a blast of energy might just shoot out lol

Saw this yesterday with my Wife. We both loved it! It was soooo good. Seeing DBZ in a theatre?? So awesome. As a long time fan of DBZ, it was such a special moment to see in the theatre and I just came away really impressed with this movie. Great humor, great callbacks, great fight scenes. it's a good time to be a Dragonball fan.

Probably shouldn't even try to talk to you since you're obviously trolling but I'm not sure what makes a "true" db fan lol. I've been watching it for around the same, I'm a little older now so ?? It's one of the biggest things from my childhood. I thought this movie was a great call back and a take on a DBZ movie in the modern era. I thought the Broly movie was really good too. World strongest, Tree of Might etc.. are awesome as well.
I would say if anything, a "true DB Fan" (LOL first of all) would just be happy and appreciative that DB is having such a popular time right now! I love the franchise, and I am glad they are succeeding and bringing in new generation and we are getting DBZ movies in theatres. I see no downside here.

This Gohan and Piccolo’s chance to shine! Hope Toriyama and his son will make them more relevant from here on. After all, a half-Saiyan like Gohan has so much potential.
Piccolo form only made him a tiny bit stronger.. still hella weak.. gohan boost was abit better with but with goku and vegeta doing nothing in the film its hard to compare gohan power level

I don't often comment on movie trailers, but I'm absolutely stoked to watch this tomorrow. I've never experienced more fun in a movie theater than the time I watched "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" in a sold-out theater with nothing but die-hard fans going nuts.

This was the first time i ever watched an anime in theaters and I'm hooked. The whole audience was playing along with the quips and reveals happening on screen. You forget that the film is cell-shaded 3D and begin to just enjoy the story unfolding. DragonBall really is one of the most intense comedies out there.
More of a action movie than a comedy movie.
In italy it's not out yet we have to wait until september the 29th

I agree on the comedy! I really thought the comedy was great in this. They've really leaned into some of the stereotypes (picollo being hella grumpy etc..). I was pleasantly surprised by all this.

Seeing the fights in imax was pretty cool with all the colors and vfx. I also like how the camera follows around the characters one shot style in fights instead of sharp cuts like in traditional 2d.

I loved this movie, I was not expecting it to be so good. And I loved that for once, this wasn't all about Goku and Vegetta.
Revolving primarily around Gohan Piccalo apposed to Broly which revolved primarily around Goku and Vegeta.

@@Nootlest Far better than the Broly movie. This movie is centered around Gohan and Picolo. I didn't like how the movie looked in the trailers but when you see it in the theater it's a different story. The movie is really good. I highly recommend you watch it.
@@Nootlest The writing is also really good and everything is excicuted well. No filler parts or questionable moments. Nothing seemed to drag on at all. The movie moved as if it had rythem.
I totally agree! I liked the Broly movie quite a bit. I dunno if I would say this one was better, but I really enjoyed it. I was just so pleased with how classic it felt, but also new and modern in ways. I liked how they really leaned in to the comedy stereotypes of DBZ, and just had so many cool character moments. It just really warmed my heart to see these characters I grew up with on the big screen.
Def not the best cgi was not it should of been hand drawn like broly
Just watched this today and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I surprisingly enjoyed the cgi more than I thought I would and a lot of scenes were absolutely breathtaking. Also the humor was great 10/10 would watch it again rn if I could.
It stunk and was just horrendous.
I think they really have been dialing in the graphics for a long time, with the various fighting games, to make it look stylish and alive. Sometimes it doesn't work great. Sometimes, knocks it out of the park.
But if not for decades of DBZ games, trying to replicate Toriyama's style? Woudnt have been possible

This is Akira Toriyama's last work on Dragon Ball series, a fitting end with Gohan regaining his prestige and saving the day taking down Cell Max a great tribute to Cell saga the best saga ever, a perfect end to amazing Dragon ball series 1986-2022.
This Movie was awsome a MUST WATCH SERIOUSLY! i wanna go watch it again in dub this time im glad to see other fighters like piccolo and rest have thier shine Gohan beast mode was epic so refreshing im glad to see my boy Gohan and piccolo get power boosts and transformations a decade in or more in the waiting

It's not the classic animation style used for dragonball so of course there'll be some backlash but all in all, it looks decent and pretty comparable to 2D animation in some instances

Me and my brother saw this yesterday. It was the first movie theater I've entered for a long time.
I watched this on my 13th birthday in August 25th 2022. It was very good. Not many animes come out at the movies, there is usually 1 every 6 months or so.
What an amazing movie and cinema experience. Fantastic soundtrack, a great story and the animations were superb. Didn't even miss Goku etc too much. I only didnt like Goten's new look, he should forever remain the small Goku-lookalike 😁
So you want him to always resemble Goku? Like c'mon, he won't have personality if he will just look like Goku. Everybody gonna say Kakarot, until they will notice that it's Goten

Wasnt feelin the animation at all but when I saw the movie in theatres I got used to it fairly fast and it made the fights a lot better imo. The handrawn fights always looked a bit recycled. This was great. Loved the movie more than id thought
When the high quality hand-drawn animations (sakuga) kick in, that's where the real eye candy is :D I haven't watched this one yet, but have you seen the Super Saiyan Goku vs Beerus fight scene from an older movie? The part where Goku turns into Super Saiyan is where a well-known talented anime animator "takes over" and it's absolutely glorious!

Best action movie I've seen in Years animated or otherwise. I'm a long standing fan of DB but honestly trailed off the last few years. I didn't even like the trailer when I first saw it, I'm so happy I did. This movie was amazing from beginning to end. You can tell that the producers, director, animation studio really tried to make every moment, frame, dialogue special. The movie was especially redeeming for Piccolo's character who I found extremely intriguing in terms of his character development. The writing, wow, special on this. Androids, amazing, "villains" amazing character arcs, fan service was amazing but wasn't in your face or over the top. It was nice to see this movie focus on other characters other than Gokuh and Vegeta. Man so awesome, I can't wait to watch it again! As an animator, damn this was so much better than I thought it would be. Loved the scale of the fighting scenes, normally I don't like the toon shaders on these films but something about this one just worked for me, can't really explain why, but looked amazing.

Soy de la primera generación q vio nacer esta gran serie de Akira Toriyama, no soy persona de ser fanática de nada q salga en el mundo del entretenimiento, pero de DBZ sería podría decir q es el único anime q me ha hecho ser fiel, pero cada vez se alejan más de lo original y meten más tecnología q lo q hace es ARRUINAR la excelencia de este clásico del anime de todos los tiempos. Espero sea la última vez q usen este tipo de animación q en vez de ayudar arruina (sí! x dos!!!) lo q no necesita nada más para ser único en su clase.

What a great movie. The return of cell and a movie focused on piccolo is fan service from the anime gods ! Gohan in namekian armor and grade A animation . Goku and vegeta scenes are quality. Well done. Not everything is in a state of decay .
Just got back from watching it. The cgi was a bit weird at first but once your eyes adjust it looks fine. If you've always been annoyed that Gohan wasn't as strong as Goku this is the perfect movie for you.

This CG animation is so clean. If they could eventually this level of CG production on a TV budget then I could easily see this phasing out hand drawn animation for anime. This is sublime!!
I wouldn't want it to phase hand-drawn out completely, but hopefully more people would see it as a valid artistic choice (and being slightly less exhausting to make, it may become the new standard).
I do like that they're making sure they preserve the look and feel of 2D anime as they move into 3D, instead of letting it completely change the aesthetic.

just watched the movie today and i can say with confidence that this is the best db movie to date. the animation was beautiful and the story flowed seamlessly. there’s a lot of callbacks to previous dragon ball moments so if you never watched db before it might not make sense. but there were some comical moments that made me laugh and the story never dragged. the final fight gave me goosebumps. just an overall superb movie

Sadly DragonBall is going on the "multiverse" trope nowadays until it became overused. It was shocking in The cell saga, touch again in black goku saga, i hope this is the last and it'll stay as just a non cannon movie like most anime are.
Don't want to render the continuity stagnated because there's many "what ifs" are being made.
Because that movie sucks.

I would have preferred 2d animation and you can see the unflattering side of the 3d animation creep in a few times but it never hindered enjoyment of the movie. Lots of genuinely comedic moments, most of it focusing on Piccolo and Gohan with the beginning of the film dedicating a little bit of time to Goku and Vegeta but they do not factor into the movie's bulk. The story is cute, has a good pay off with the sub villains and generally feels like a great throwback to Dragon ball with its goofy and silly story beats while keeping it aligned with current Dragonball super progression.
It's what a lot of dragon ball movies should aspire to, as Super Broly did: Not being earth shattering in its stakes, but focusing on character and not taking itself too seriously.
I've watched this and it's an absolute blast. The animations are very satisfying, very suited for Dragon Ball, i'm much more preferred this type on animation compared to 2D.

But we have different opinions of how we watch this movie if someone doesn't like it that's fine and for others that like it that's fine as well.
