Also, none of the manufacturers seem to have figured out that it would be best for the vacuum to stop or return to base when the bin is full - my Roomba leaves a trail of debris all over the house once the bin is full, which sorta defeats the purpose...
I have a Neato, not the app driven one. Only had it 3 months and it broke down. However, these things happen and Neato have been fantastic. No fuss return and the replacement is on it's way as I type this. 10 out of 10 for customer service. While my original Neato was working, it did a really great job especially as I have several cats and a dog. Before I used it for the first time I gave my living room a thorough vacuuming with my standard cleaner. It was amazing how much extra the Neato picked up. Was great coming home to find a clean carpet. I just wish someone would invent one specifically designed to vacuum the stairs. I'd be first in the queue to buy it!
With pets, you have to have a full sized corded upright. With all that hair and dander, you'll need a machine with a powerful motorized brush bar and strong suction. Even the Roomba 980 can't come anywhere close to deep carpet cleaning and stuck on hardfloor pickup compared to something like the Dyson Ball Multifloor 2.
Roomba still uses old school bump tech to "navigate" its way around the space whereas the Neato uses a laser and hardly everneeds to touch, let alone bump into things to "see" where its going. iRobot still haven't learnt the fundamentals of robotics after all of these years and being a pioneer in the robotic vacuum industry, hard to believe people but its true!

The roomba works alright, but doesn't clean that well and to this day has not cleaned the whole place due to getting stuck (after a year's worth of use). Anyways so I'm interested in the Dyson and came to your deal hoping to see more on the battery time, I know the dyson has less, however, it seems more efficient in time. It looked like the dyson was turning on your pile of dirt on the carpet, was that the reason for not catching it as well? Could you maybe do one more video focussing on the dirt pick up a little more? thank you

i tried the iRobot Roomba 880 and returned it after 1 day. it's a piece of a junk. Runs out of battery in just one room, it takes over 30 minutes to do one big room and the algorithm is no that efficient whereas the Neato is smarter at that
Thanks for sharing your test results. Some things to mention that were overlooked: Roomba requires barriers to be setup/placed around the house to fence off specific areas. Neato generates a map of the floor (via machine learning) and allows the user to fence off areas marked on the map using the mobile app...
Im in day 3 testing roomba 980. First 2 days downstairs both failed. Today first day upstairs and failed. Errors, errors and errors. Tomorrow last day of testing and if I get 4 out of 4 errors it's time to replace it with Samsung 9350
Too late for this comment, but I have these vacuums and the Dyson can follow after the Roomba 980 and still pick up more than the Roomba. I wonder if the model he has is just bad because the one thing my Dyson does well is vacuum. By that I mean it doesn't navigate as well, and gets lost all of the time, but it definitely cleans up more and better. If you are still looking at these I hope you don't base your decision on this one video because because from my experience, it gives a pretty inaccurate portrayal of these vacuums. I should note that I don't have the Neato so I don't know about that.
Useful video! You had helped me to make up my mind on my purchase. I would go with the Roomba from your review video. Cleaning is the priority and I had also considered the popularity and length of this product on the market. I would take the Roomba. All my vacuums are Dyson brand. i really want to get a robot vaccumm i waited out until the dyson came out. but ive heard some bad reviews. i dont know which one to get. the dyson the roomba or the samsung. i was told that the roomba was very smart and fits in small areas with good sweepers to get edges but as little suction where the samsung has really good suction but wasnt as smart and no sweepers...so confusing and i dont have alot of money so i when i buy one i have to stick with that choice.
kindethics I can speak for the Roomba 960, and it is surprisingly whisper quiet. I can easily run this vacuum and still watch TV without having to change the volume. Also, it doesn't interrupt any conversation. I saw the Samsung at Best Buy and it was incredibly loud in comparison. Hope this helps.
Dyson spends too much on design, and not enough on the product. We own the cordless Dyson rechargeable vac, and never use it because it only last 10 minutes. Waste of money! If i buy a robot, it looks like i'll be going with Roomba. Seems Dyson again just focused more on the design, and less on how it pics up dirt, and why they would make it so tall, yet so small is beyond me. That thing wouldn't fit under any of my furniture.

Carpet vs wood/laminate floor makes a difference too, my roomba does way better on a laminate floor than it does on any carpet.

But on the Dyson it has normal and boost mode and the normal mode is 50 percent he had it in normal mode

You've used roomba and dysons top model, yet you didn't with the neato.
You should have used the the neato D7 connected for this to be a fair test.
The D7 is the exact same thing as everything else in the D series sans D3 performance wise.
