The real stuffs comes when you go up in a stage haha, It's pretty easier to acchieve and use those notes when you are well rested and when you got plenty time to breath and place your voice =) Thats why I say, The true singer is teh one who can use all his voice potential in a live show with no flaw =) LaBrie used to do it at '90s haha =) And thx for the comment =) Meant a lot for me =D
@LPmarkac Its easier when you sing in this style, since you can feel where the note is placed... But yeah, Some parts of some songs are hard to recognize.. specially because LaBrie used to Drive his head voice notes to "Hide" its head aspect... like in the Surrounded (Live Version) "I send the spirit strumbling down the hill, but I will HOLD this one..." In studio he makes this HOLD in Chest, at live he makes in Head with drive, with sounds very close to a Chest note.
I started by my own... I didnt even know what I was doing... no Warm Up, no good vocal placement... but I always have played with my voice... Then I started to search for singing stuffs on RUclips and learned about Head/Chest notes, learned about exercises and warming up... I always listened to good vocalists, that made a lot of difference for me... After that I went to some churchs seeking chorus help, and sang in there for 4 months (I learned a lot of breathing there) Its all about training
Wow man I still can't difference it much (especially because I am a native portuguese speaker and I don't know the equivalents to "chest voice" and "head voice" in portuguese. But you're an amazing singer, very cool there.
@Rorhin There are 2 voices... both are really separated... The Head and Chest. There are no real connection between these voices. There are many Chest "Therms" and many "head" therms. Theres a limit of notes that each "Voice" can achieve. LaBrie used to sing at the TOP of Chest notes... among D5/D#5... (You won't see any other vocal doing that)... In the Learning to live F#, LaBrie uses the Full Voice Tech... Its a Head Voice with high resonance among the body (Thats why its called full).
My God your voice is insane! How many years did it take you to get that D5 and also the F#?? i'm really curious because i'm a singer and one of my goals is to be able to sing really high notes with my chest voice, so if you let me know i will appreciated! Thanks!
@demonight2 Ok thanks. Yeah i'm working on my breathing a lot often but in my band i play lead guitar and lead singer so it's harder cause i have to make sure i'm doing everything right.
That was wonderful I love early Dream Theater ans your voice sounds great Im in New York I sing and Id love to take some lessons from you Youve heard Uli Jon Roths old singer Tommy Heart from the Sky Of Avalon album - yes ? Thats great too I love Midnight Geoff Tate early Rob Halford early Dennis De Young Theres lots of talented singers
@AlexZamora1234 It actually came early to me... When I decided to sing I was like 15yo... and Then I started to play with my voice... then I realized how High I could sing... but something that really helped me out was the RUclips exercises! There are MANY channels here with ppl teaching a lot of Warm Up exercises and specially DIAPHRAGM exercises! When comes to singing, breathing is like 90%... the rest is up to your OWN technique !
@AlexZamora1234 Sure it is my friend! You become a real singing when singing comes fully naturally... And for that, you take like 10 years of pratice.... Pavarotti for example, took 20 years to master one of his techniques... Singing takes a lot of time to master because it is something that you can't really SEE and anyone can't really tell your what to do... All the vocal exercises teaches your how to understand your own body... and for that, takes a lot of time and patience
Well i wont disagree with you, since most of my Sound programs (Like Adobe Audition) indicates everything as 1 octave lower... But still the Piano and Keyboard indicates those octaves...
Nice work! Ive seen lot of your videos..I too a James Labrie fan
nice technique bro..thanks for uploading..
Imagine this guy working in fastfood and finding a 3 foot long hair in your burger.
Thank you =D
That means a lot for me =)

Obviously you've got crazy pipes
but if you didn't collapse in the back of the neck, the falsetto notes could probably feel a little easier.
@jinqs84 You're welcome =D

Can you teach me the ways of the voice?
@Yzyz00r Head Voice = Voz de Cabeça.. Chest Voice = Voz de Peito.
Eu sou Brasileiro =) Se precisar de alguma coisa em Portugues, só pedir =)
