You and Throttle House are the only two outlets that are giving us what we actually want to see from the Z06/Z07. And, you’re really the only genuine owner who’s been using this car for what it was initially designed and built to do. Well done once again, Austin; this car is an absolute war machine on the track!
No annoying music, no talking just the beautiful sound of an American V8 for us to listen to. These are the type of car videos we all want to see more of.
I am a Porsche owner/enthusiast and have raced button willow over a dozen times. I am very impressed with the speeds you are getting up to on each section. The C8 Z06 has serious power and grip. Any time in the 1:50-2:00 range on this track layout is very respectable. Great job, nice car, and sounds amazing.
The Porsches are so fast at Buttonwillow! Love seeing how good they do. Such good driver's cars. Interesting to feel the different style of attack the Z06 gives compared to the GT3s. Thank you
Now this is the kind of content that I like...someone that buys a car for what it was meant to be for. It's nice to see that you haven't modified it and kept it stock. The Z06 was built for what it was meant to be...a track focused street car. Keep it coming.
I also like that its Not modded out..there are enough youtubers out there doing nasty things to their z06's and most of those mods have only made the cars worse not better...
The GT3RS is a few generation older model with 500hp - 2018. 2023 GT3RS will be a fun matchup. Also, funny to see the 20 year old red 996 911 keep up pretty good on your tail.
Your are a class act on and off the track….you don’t rub it in the faces of those pass. I am sure you have the respect of the GT3 driver because your God given driving skill used to bring the best out of the ZO6!
I started watching you way back for the car content. I had no idea about your driving skill. RESPECT!! The way you pick your line and stick it says alot about the Z and your ability. Thanks for taking us along with you. It felt as though I was right there.
Getting better! Keep up the good work and thanks again for using the car for its intended purpose! Would love a lap time metric if you have the ability to add it in future videos!
You’ve improved on your turning compared to a few years back. I thought that many times, you gave it too much or too early throttle through the turn and you had to over correct the steering as the CG changed at the wrong time. You are much smoother through the turns now.
Speed Phenom Awesome Video I'm so glad you had a great time on Button Willow with your new C8 Z06 Z07 and I think you did very well considering that you haven't been there for 2 years
It is nice to see a GT3 RS on track vice sitting in a garage as a trophy. For your next video speak to some of these guys/gals and get their impressions of the car on track outside of press vehicles driven by reviewers.
Another great video Austin! I can't get enough of watching this car perform on track. What was the outside temp during these sessions? What tire pressures are you maintaining during heat cycles? You can tell you are learning more about the car each time out. Your hands are getting less active. Smooth is fast...
I don’t know what’s worse. Waiting a week to watch one of your videos, to then watch it, to then wait another week. Or too patiently have to wait for my C8Z allocation. Because both are very exciting haha. Another great vid!!!
Haha thank you for the kind words!! Gonna be getting a lot more vids out starting from now. Took a little time off with the Holidays, but don't worry! We are back at it starting this week!
Great job as usual Austin! I love that you use the Z for what it was meant for. I'm also glad that you've kept it stock for all of these videos/tests. The C8 Z06 that GM engineered/built stands tall amongst the other exotic manufacturers' stock cars... no mods needed to the C8 Z to compete. Zora is somewhere smiling down on your evidence of this! Keep up the great work.
Another outstanding track video, Austin! I think it would be a better presentation, when using the top camera, to disable the gyro so the camera doesn't jounce the car to keep the horizon stable (if that's even possible). Thanks again for the content; best car content I've found!
@speedphenom I advise you mark the wheel and tire to see if there is any wheel spin within the tire after some hot laps to affirm tire and wheels are holding together well. With the new carbon wheels im actually very curious.
You should start a ratings of the cars you have driven on track, for the audience with a non track perspective. I would really like to know what you really think about this car over a McLaren or Porsche you have driven.
Shame you don’t get more views dude. Actually using this car to its potential. Would love to see you put n exhaust for a bit more power and lose a few pounds. See if it makes a difference in lap times.
I always enjoy watching you drive Austin. Would I be accurate in saying that I felt you are focused on tire management which is a big part of competitive racing? Albeit we all know you are out there to have fun and learning. Frankly I don't think I could bring myself to use the CUP2R due to the high consumption and cost.
Great Video Austin! 1:53 is blazin' fast; as fast as the race cars I see out there on that track. Props to you as the driver again. Your experience shows and really helps the car. Tire wear is still an issue for me as I debate whether I want the fast car and all the consumable issues or just stay with the slower car, have less consumables but have a lot of fun. Wondering about the PS4s on that car. It's looking like you'll need new tires soon enough. Maybe try the more durable tire out and see what happens?
Exactly my thought process also. It is all about personal preferences and goals; plus, wallet size. I went from a faster car to a slower car primarily due to consumables cost. The fun factor is the same for me; but, I sure would like to experience driving this car even though it is far more capable than I am.
I think someone needs to start a Go Fund Me to get Austin and his Z06 over to Germany to run the Nürburgring. I'd love to see his time on it. Great video dude! Again I've got a foot cramp from hitting the ghost pedals while watching your video. Cheers!
Nice job Austin on showing what that car is capable of doing. I'm sure there's a lot of people out there waiting to do the same thing you're doing right now. Look forward to hearing more about how the brakes hold up in what kind of wear you get on the tires. Keep up the good work!
Speed! I enjoy the channel. What are your thoughts on the C8 Z51? With the market coming down by the end of 23 ill be interested in one by then! Also looking to build my GT for the track! I enjoy this content and learn a lot from it.
That was so intense. The camera angles and different views were awesome. The car is insane. What are your thoughts about the steering feedback. It seemed to me that you driving the car differently compared to your MC600.
Thank you! They drive very differently. McLaren is more go-karty. This is more like the American street-high downforce track car. Both fun. Steering is good but gets very heavy. It doesn't give you the same feedback as some rival competitors. Given, it is electric and NOT hydraulic. Still, its engaging
@@SpeedPhenom Austin, many thanks for the great feedback. Can’t wait to watch more of your track videos. Hoping to get my Z07 soon. Almost exactly the same as yours but HTC with red calipers and red stitching.
I liked this video very much. Your speeds are impressive. I think I can see the down force on camera or just imagining it. That engine is smokin! Not literally.
I am so proud of what GM can do when they put their mind to it, what a machine, very nice driving also, car sounds so good, but I just got to say, call me old or whatever, but I still like the sound of the old big inch, pushrod, cross plane engines, just my opinion. I do track days with some GM engineers that work in the performance department, these people are not just educated, they're smart, a rare thing this day and age, good people, Gm is lucky to have people like this.
That either wasn't a gt3 RS or the driver was only at 80% of the car's potential. If neither, the new z06 is a BEAST and needs more love and recognition!
A1 video and A1 driving. But I got a question about the exhaust. Why does it wine whenever it downshifts? It seems like the sound just lingers. Sorry I don't know much about Corvettes or cars really..
Flat plane crank design w/ the intakes offer the same sound pitch as naturally aspirated Ferraris. Given the revs go so high, it will linger the sound.
And you have some people who detract from the c8 Z06 as a supercar, yet it can give much more expensive machinery problems just like the Nissan GT-R R35 because some people this might be the most expensive performance car they can buy.the fact it's in this realm performance wise for the price kinda begs that question, what is it about the McLaren or Ferrari experience is worth more than the Z06?
I would say the name Ferrari or McLaren and people's hard line devotion to their faves. I guess some figure if it isn't in the same price range as Porsche or Ferrari, it is not in the same league. Just as you still have people saying American cars can't handle corners. People who test cars for a living and are unbiased know that is not the case anymore. Cars that cost as much as Porsche's, Ferrari's and McLaren's had damn well better be able to handle corners. They can't say Vettes, ZL1's Vipers, Ford GT's and even Blackhawks can't handle. Now that engineers and not bean counters are making the important decisions about how a car should be built and perform, you see the difference, and GM has found the way to achieve it at far lower prices.
In the case of McLaren, it's the carbon tub, that is what you are paying for and that is what makes it stand out from a driving dynamics perspective. In the case of Ferrari, it's the name and prestige
Happy to try to answer this one! You are paying for the experience. They are all vastly different... The Z06 is not a McLaren, and it is not a Ferrari, or a Lamborghini. All these brands drive very differently. McLarens are light as a feather, and accelerate like a spaceship. Porsche's are nimble and pure. Lamborghinis are rough, pointy, and raspy. Ferrari is speed, curves, and prestige. Z06 is America's sports car turned supercar. It gives you elements from all the above, with a more affordable and widespread nameplate. Exclusivity is a prominent aspect as well. I hope this helps! I love them all! :)

It's,a beast on track
Except he actually uploads more than 1 video a month
Exactly! I don't wanna see wraps, turbos, or Carmax offers. I wanna see people pushing this thing on the track
Agree, to me it’s not entertaining to watch someone hack the exhaust off, do an insane amount of cold starts/revs and break it.
Or slap a widebody on it then sell it 😅
