- This video shows the final saga of Australia's greatest test team, after the historic 06/07 Ashes series. As members of that team slowly retired and it's legendary captain stepped down, watch the journey Australia took during the first months of Michael Clarke's captaincy. Culminating in the Border-Gavaskar trophy of 2011/12, where some of the old guard, showed that they still had something left in the tank...

That was fantastic mate. I am 32 an am frequently laughed at when I say Clarke is my favourite Australian captain in my lifetime but I think the adversity in starting from scratch with the team and the memories of this India series and the 2013-14 double ashes series well and truly justify how I feel
We all remember Philip Hughes. That day will never be forgotten
R.I.P. Philip Hughes 😢😢😢
He was mediocre batsman
@@ershabby why is it always an indian or a paki?
@@ershabbyshow some respect…
He was doing better than David Warner
@@ershabbytotally disrespectful and he was a great batsman
I remember watching this test match during u16 state championships in Brisbane, apart from warners brilliance in his 09 debut against SA he was unproven in the red ball game. It was so incredible watching him carry his bat in just his second test - we all felt as a group of 16 year olds that Australian cricket was safe for a few years. Great times
Incredible video mate. Whatever people think of Pup off the field, his aggressive captaincy and tactical nous really got us over the line in some of those series.
It's a shame he held grudges with guys like Simon Katich and refused to pick them even though they deserved it. We could've been much better if it wasn't for that egotistical prick. For that reason alone, he'll always be a shit captain.
Mike hussey was our last great number 6 something we constantly struggle with
Thanks for this man. We really need some good feelings right now
One of the best narrated documentary i have seen. I am Indian cricket Fan, and an avid follower, but it was so fantastically drafted to walk thru to learn of the Aus Test team transition in context of all the background stuff. Well done.
I am now a Subscriber for life!
My mate and I recognised Hughes's talent when he first burst onto the Sheffield Shield stage. This was in the 2007/08 season.
Great vid mate. You have a real knack for story telling
Great story telling mate. One of my favourite and earliest memories of going to the cricket was being at all 4 days of the 2012 SCG with my Dad and Grandad so listening to that section of the video hit home even more. Awesome video mate 👏👏
Just want to say that was an elite video and look forward too watching the others. 🔥
Love your videos ! As an aussie on the other side of the world and finding it hard to get time to watch the australian summer these really keep me going cheers mate!
Such a great video! I remember this was the first test series I watched as a kid. And boy, watching Ponting and Clarke putting on huge partnerships was an unforgettable experience! You brought me right back to those moments!
it means a lot to indian fans who are able to win two series in australia. I remember watching that series and gobsmacked by how shit we were when we travelled overseas. I think this bowling lineup could have given tough battle to then aus batting lineup.
South africa won 3 consecutive test series in Australia 😂😂😂😂😂
@@pranshukrishna5105 South africa has a better ODI record than Australia too, i don't know what happened to the current SA team

Its not only बोलिंग
South Africa from 2006 to 2016 was a great team. Didn’t lose a single series away. An achievement not many great teams had.
Love this channel it reunited my passion for cricket again 😊
I'm glad to hear it mate 😊
@@6ixandout it's giving me warm feelings too... it's been tough since Cape Town.
@6ixandout Hey there mate, that was an interesting video! It was cool to see highlights of the past era of cricket! On a different note, the videos on the playlist on my channel titled 'Purpose of Life?' might interest some people! Anyway all the best to you and anyone reading this comment!
Another great video, mate. You are being a real educator of Australian cricket history. I didn’t know much about the Clark chapter. Thanks for enlightening me.
Still the Aussies are legends when it comes to ICC titles. They have the urge to fight till the last over
Love and appreciate your videos mate . Can really feel your passion for cricket in the brilliant storytelling . Thanks very much i know a lot of effort must go into these keep it up!!
Great video ! As an Indian team fan I got a lot of respect for the Aussie team , their grit and professionalism . I also think their fans are being harsh after one test loss in BGT . This is the team that won em WTC final and ODI WC . India just played better in first test but that doesn’t mean it is end of the road for team Australia . We have a fascinating series on our hands !
And it wasn't. Aus won the series.
Given how close Clarke was with Phil Hughes, it's rather touching to upload a video like this today. R.I.P Phil Hughes.
Well written & spoken mate, great stuff!
Love your videos bro, keep it up
So glad i found this channel I'm literally binge watching all the videos and can't wait for the next 🙏🏽 not many highlights from Bangladesh cricket unfortunately but would love to see a video on the rare glimpse of hope for Bangladesh who was shakib al hasan
Great video and commentary.
You seem a nice guy.
Thanks for posting!
Love this video! Was only a young lad when I watched this series and it’s so good to look back to see what actually went down. This all went over my head at idk 10-12 yrs old.
Great work mate, some awesome memories
Very nicely put together. Thank you very much.
Clark’s Aussie team is so underrated in the great Aussie teams
Best channel for an Australian Fan Hands Down ❤
What a content to watch for a cricket lover ❤❤ Thanks from pakistan 🎉
Great video , your narration is absolutely brilliant..and great memories .. hope Australia regain their form once again .. only not against India...
Haha, especially against India 😉
This might be my favourite channel on RUclips.
Great video! Congrats and thank you
Great job assembling this video
While this brought back some rather painful memories, it is a great video. Thanks for the amazing content!
I love your channel you have an excellent story telling ability
Fantastic piece mate! great effort 👍
Moral of the story, Mike Hussey was and remains a a cricket legend
What a player James Pattison was, very good with the ball and handy with the bat ... if it wasn't his injury prone biwling, he would be there with the Australian greats
Huge loss for Australia that he couldn't keep fit. Many were predicting that Starc, Pattinson and Cummins were the future trio for Australia, but Pattinson just couldn't keep himself available and Cummins lost six years to injury.
what a video man big ups to u!! ❤❤
Poor Doug Bracewell, should have had a Stella career alongside Southee. If only he didn't hang out with Jesse Ryder so much.
He snorts coke. He's havin the time of his life. Wooooo !
Great trip down memory lane.
19:20 what an absolute ripper of a delivery that was, man
Wow, what a beautiful video. You can truly only connect the dots and draw the lines looking backwards. The narrative you constructed of the rise and fall of Aussie cricket here was amazing. You could draw a similar narrative of the fall of the great Indian batting line up and the rise of the next giant. In the series you covered which ended up being the last one for Dravid Laxman had a few other narratives from the Indian side too.
This team hadn't managed to make 400 in any test inning for 10+ matches. That 400 in the 2nd inning at Sydney was the first time they had done so, and also the last time the combination of Dravid Laxman Tendulkar and Sehwag made 400 in an inning together. The Adelaide test with the Kohli 100 was the first in a line of 10 test centuries (as of 2024) for Virat and a sign of the next giant to come. This 4-0 loss for India was the last of the really big test losses of this decade. The next tour they lost all matches but they could have won each of the games. Post that tour they haven't lost a single series to Australia.
Keep up the amazing work!
Bro.. what a beautiful trip down memory lane. Each of the test matches you mentioned brought back a ton of memories.. thank you so very much. Can India win the BGT in 2024 and also qualify for the 3rd WTC final??? As of now; we beat the Aussies at Perth and who knows if this will be Australia's worst summer in a long time... Long live test cricket.
You have such a calm view on things I'd love your take on the ball tampering SA incident
Super eagerly waiting for ur video .. delight to watch so much of ingredients in single video ... 😊😊
love your videos
keep going
Man that India first 6 at its peak is crazy Gambhir, Sehwag, Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman and Kohli it’s ridiculous how good these batters were and how good kohli is now
This is such beast content good shit bro
Forever 63* phil hughes❤️🏏
M Clarke. One of the underrated modern-day great imo.
Probably not a likeable bloke but man he was talented.
The second series that I wanted to forget about as an Indian 😢....
Michael Clarke was a nightmare in that series. I still remember that hopelessness ... We failed as a cricketing country there.
What a voice ge got listen listen listen no boring
Very good analysis 👍 subscribed..
great video mate
Our problem has always been that we never had the depth coming thru coz we never thought any of those players in that great side would retire. We're having the same probs now especially in the batting & even more the openers
Pointing, Hayden, Langer, Symonds, McGrath, Warne, Brett Lee, Watson, Gilly, Martyn were dominant in their prime. They had that swagger and fire we’re missing now. Good old days when cricket had proper grit.
Best video to watch
I love your vids mate
Australian team of the last 10 years has been a great team too. Winning 4 out of their total 10 ICC tournaments in the last 10 years time is not a joke. I'd call it the 2nd strongest Aussie team ever & 3rd strongest cricket team ever only behind West Indies in their hayday & Aussies of 1999-2009.
Best channel going. Rip phillip hughes
Australia reign finsed in 08 this india tour was only a glimmer of hope
love this insight......keep up the good content
Freaking awesome video man!
I quite enjoyed Pups book, got it for a chrissy present 10 years ago now!

That Ponting century at Adelaide was actually his last.

Phill Hughes and young David Warner, now THAT'S an opening pair.

Stoooop it. What a nut from Hilf
good video cobber! i currently have similar thoughts about our current team - our current team has been a fantastic one, with players such as Smudge; our trio of quicks and Gary; but i’d like us to find the talent to replace our greats. i currently don’t see any answers, i reckon we need to be a little more proactive in finding replacements.
Hi mate namaste
From India would like to ask you how much cricket is
really popular in Australia specially youth people
Have a nice day ❤❤
Cheers mate! I agree.
@Scholars_Squad Sounds like a decent idea for a video...
Great video sir
Well said ol boy,
Hey bud great video there. Can you make a video on the 2015 Australian team that won the world cup. I feel like that achievement under Clarke's captaincy and that team in general is quite underrated and not talked about enough. I feel like It was the coming of the next gen Aussie stars. Please look into this if you can
Hughes passing is sad as person but as a player we could or really used him over the last 10 years at certain points
I played against Michael Clarke on many occasions in grade cricket in Sydney and even clean bowled him in a one-day game. I'm a complete nobody when it comes to cricket but one night several years later, Clarke comes up to me in a nightclub the calls me by my name and I was a iittle surprised. Even though he was a complete tosser on the field, off field he was came across like a reasonable guy and I would have to give him credit for that.
The team currently is in free fall literally!
Hey man it would be a good idea to make a video about the current state of australian cricket. It seems to be in a decline with some of the senior players retiring soon or being out of form.
The parallels between then and now are eerie. We have two superstars in Smith and Labuschagne who appear to be aging and losing their edge. We have an aging seam attack and a spinner who's now into his late 30's. Khawaja is also old for a test batter (he'll be 38 by the MCG test) and it's a bit early to say but he may be losing his edge as well. And we have a selection panel that seems unwilling to weild the axe. I thought before this series started Marnus should have been dropped and Marsh if he can't bowl is just not fulfilling the role that Australia need. Cameron Green was covering some glaring holes (he pretty much stole a test match for Australia in NZ this year) and with him out the team looks tired and unbalanced. My first test team would have been Khawaja, Bancroft, McSweeney, Smith, Head, Webster, Carey, Cummins, Starc, Lyon, Hazelwood. I know Bancroft had a horror start to the year but Perth is his home deck and instead we threw McSweeney in against Bumrah. Crazy selection.
Ponting the greatest modern day batsman ive ever seen. Followed by Lara.
It happens in a lot of sports. You get teams having winning cycles. Top teams, I mean. Then the cycle ends, due to the quality not being there mainly.
Declaring when you are at 329 looking infallible is one of the most selfless decisions by a captain.
18:39 the pitch woke up and chose violence
R I.P Phillip Hughes😢
You should review 2010/11 ashes series and then Australia vs south africa test series 2012/13 in Australia
I remember watching Michael Clarke decimating our chances to win, The series is telecast early in the morning, My dad you used to get up at 5 in the morning to watch the tests, I was leaving for school while looking at the TV sadly of clarke not getting out and getting past 300😔, I felt the might of the Aussies then but in 18-19 Virat and his men, changed everything truly🤩🔥BGT has a history of cementing the legacy of test captains like clarke and virat and we'll continue our dominance this year too💪
No you will be reminded of your childhood once 2nd test begins.
Love BGT great cricket
@RyanQuinn0397 let us see😂 10 years it has been since aus won the bgt😂 odds are stacked our side
@@vishalkarthikeyan49 it didn't rain for 42 days, then it poured.
Change is the only constant.
@@vishalkarthikeyan49 you nervous yet?
@vishalkarthikeyan49 good series Aussies once again father of India
BGT back where it belongs and Australia is the best team in the world holding all trophies
That India series was also the beginning of Australian fans throwing all their frustrations Shaun Marsh's way haha
The only thing is, yeah by 2011 we were well into the next era.
Micheal BenStokes Clarke 🔥
Could have done with that David Warner 100 at Perth the other day
Yeah he used to get a lot of criticism from all sides but he was such a solid opener
they need to bring back the cricket academy
