It was always going to be a challenge for Australia to replace Warne. Aside from his ability as a leg spinner, his dedication was second to none. I'm an England and Warwickshire fan and have seen Warne play at Edgbaston for Australia in a Test Match and for Hampshire in County Championship matches; his intensity, dedication and will to win was the same regardless of the match, regardless of the opposition.
You did it again. You've produced a. Ery factual and nostalgic video. Wow. I remember the journey we have been on since 2007. Thank you for dissecting that era.
This story kind of reminds me of Muttiah Murlidharan and rangana herath. Herath does have close to 100 test caps but he would have had far more wickets if murli was not the lead spinner for sri lanka.
It's quite remarkable- like they say, when things are good they're good, but when they're bad oh boy you'll know about it. The spinner dilemma was one thing, but also having generational batters on a steep decline, the inability to replace McGrath, and the rise of other nations, it all came together for a particularly tumultuous time for Australian cricket from '08 till probably '15.
It really feels like you don't know what you got til it's gone... I shudder to think how long it will take to build back after our current megastar quartet retires.
Tbh, those part time spinners of Symonds and Clarke would have destroyed the current Indian batting lineup considering the atrocity of a whitewash which happened few days ago. Btw the 10 spin options you’ve mentioned and also other spinners who’ve played with Nathan Lyon such as Todd Murphy, zampa and kuhnnemann would have become great spinners on their own by tormenting the bazball England team by just writing the word spin outside their dugout on a spin friendly wicket in Sydney😂😂😂
How about that for Lyon though. Kumar on your first ball. Destined for greatness. I think he'll probably retire after the 26' Ashes at home, hopefully we can sort out a better replacement process by then
Murali was a fine bowler, despite the fact that asian/"racism" pressure forced the ICC to change the rules to allow him to bowl. He might have taken more wickets, but his record will always have an asterix next to it. Shane Warne was a different cat altogether. He could turn a boring afternoon of Test cricket into a mesmerising experience. Watch any ball by ball spell on youtube. Magilla was Gillespie to Warnes McGrath.
Murali was the only decent bowler Sri Lanka had no competing bowler.warne would bowl with likes of McGrath, mostly by the time warne came on teams would be 3/4 down.and Murali did it in dust bowls of Sri Lanka ,warne did his work in pace friendly aus and eng.besides warne was the better cricketing mind as evidenced by ipl 2008
@@3_smh_3 reverse swing is a physical phenomena created, if I'm not mistaken, by the Sri Lankans. Bending your elbow to bowl and calling it a 'physical impedance' was a completely made up factor that everyone could see. It was only after Asians started calling it 'racism' that it became racism. He was an illegal bowler let into the game purely thanks to political correctness. If Murali had played in the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's or 80's he would have never got a game, it's only after Asians realised that 'cultural awareness' could be manipulated into shaming the establishment that Murali ever got recognised. You lot are the Peter who cried 'wolf!'.

Steve O’Keefe was the best replacement spinner, but he had to be dropped for discipline reasons. We got Lyon instead though, so it’s win:win.
