Good video, but you missed the main point. Indigo's main source of revenue was never RASK but leasing their new aircrafts to other airlines. You might know that Indigo is Airbus's biggest customer (with over 1200 A320 orders) and started leasing their A320's to other airlines who are on Airbus's waitlist for the same aircraft model and make. Indigo works on a sale and leaseback model (SLB) where an airline acquires the aircraft at an attractive price and sells the aircraft to a lessor and leases it back for its own use. Just look at how many airlines are flying aircraft that are leased from Indigo and you'll get an idea. The SLBs are important as they are cash generative and also help the airline with fleet flexibility. However, post covid a lot of airlines have chosen to not lease from Indigo denting Indigo's major revenue source! Add the P&W engine issue and the whole thing is experiencing a domino effect. Indigo is in a state where it cannot lease to other airlines and is stuck with brand new aircraft with faulty engines.
If you see Indigo’s cash flow statement, they still generated positive cash despite posting a loss on the PL statement. You need to understand that Indigo prepares it’s financial statements according to IFRS, interest expense and depreciation listed on the PL doesn’t really depict the actual cash outflows. Q2 is anyway a weaker period for the aviation industry. If you look into it, QoQ revenue decreased marginally even though the no. of flights and no. of pax increased. It was largely due to fall in average revenue per pax (discounted fares due to unstable demand). Further, the AOG situation has peaked now and it’s going to get better.
All listed companies posted losses for this quarter (Q2 2024). Since shares prices were already declining due to FII sales hence each company use this quarter to book maximum expense for this quarter to utilise share price fall across whole share market. Next quarter profit will be back for all companies.
I think you are over-estimating the effects of fuel price rise - yes, fuel is the major cost factor for airlines in India, but prices have remained 'somewhat' stable - INR depreciation over USD is also there. The most important factor is that of the 367 planes you mentioned, more than 65+ are grounded - when 20% of your fleet is grounded, it can take the entire airline down. This increases cost - plus IndiGo is operating aircraft leased from Latvian carriers and those wet leased aircraft increase cost.
Historically, no airline has consistently been profitable, which is why the airline industry is often considered a poor investment due to various challenges. However, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) service providers stand to benefit significantly from the airline industry's growth. These companies are the best proxy play for capitalizing on the airline boom.
now I wonder, I have travelled in Europe and have taken flights from Ryanair, they costed me as low as 13Euro (~1400rs) (Memmingen, DE to Pisa, Italy), how come they manage this low prices? would be an interesting case study.

There’s lots of gap in the information provided. More airports and fdi won’t solve the issues. What’s the crude oil buffer set by the Indian Governments try to find and surprising no information and no journalism on the question. Aviation is a seasonal industry so any schemes for fuel credit when business is low. There’s too many hole’s that are yet to be filled and no one is asking the government directly. Think about it 🧐
I personally prefer not to fly IndiGo as this year I have taken 7 flights from Kolkata to Jaipur and vice versa and their in-flight services are not that good. Their seats are very uncomfortable and full of dust. The seats inside an AC bus are more comfortable than their seats. Also their washrooms are dirty. The cabin crew is rude in behaviour and not that hospitable anymore. Air India express and Akasa Air are better alternatives.
Don't watch if you don't know hindi I haven't seen subtitle provided in kannad and tamil language channels with more than 500k subs nor have I seen brothers from north asking for subs why do you want hindu speaking video to have English subs - by a indian from south

Sir indigo can't hedge fuel price in open market where they can decrease the cost
Govt levies kills this industry man made tailored issues
Why don't they make their own airplane parking it's a one time investment but costs low in long term
Boeing aur Airbus ki Duopoly katm karni hain isme Indian govt hi sakhti hain banani hain.
Services meh Airport charges kam karwani hain.
