D-Mart needs to work on the following: 1. Provide sufficient parking space for customers' vehicles. 2. The quality of clothing has decreased over the years to increase profitability, making Zudio a preferable option. There's no comparison between Zudio's and D-Mart's clothing in terms of design, fitting, and quality. 3. D-Mart prioritizes sales growth over quality, which customers notice. 4. Previously, D-Mart's softy ice cream outside the store attracted long lines of customers, comparable to MacDonald's. However, the current quality doesn't even match local stores. 5. This decline applies to multiple long-selling products at D-Mart, relatable to old customers. Despite this, I still prefer D-Mart for monthly grocery shopping. However, if better options arise, I'll explore alternative brands without hesitation.
Reliance Smart Bazaar (Big One) is competitor, Reliance Smart Point has low availability of items and discounts are not good as well. In our locality multiple smart points have closed due to loss and no staff.
In my city Amravati there is 2 D mart from past 17 years. In diwali period they have to stack racks after 2 hours each.. Imagine there sells. They don't have proper parking so they are ready to pay around 6 crore for land for parking only. They already bought a land for new Dmart. City like Amravati where people loves to go Dmart rather buying online. Plus Dmart giving job to atleast 500 people in my city. When Dmart come people used to say small shop will close but you will find it everywhere increasing doing good business. Eating in restaurant is better experience than ordering online except things like pizza. So it will be there for atleast 20-30 years and we can't predict future. We have famous mobile shop here whose business almost end after flipkart and that thing you can predict that this shops won't going to survive online compitation.
If DMART expands to eastern India they will benefit huge with most middle and poor class living in the eastern region. Quick commerce viability is yet to be tested for longer period. Quick commerce wont be able to sell in price sensitive region, stores like DMART makes more sense there. Its not their battle to fight, IMO they should stay away from it.
Vo damani ji ka dmart he jisme bigbazaar ko khtm kar diya or reliance retail ki nak me dam karke rakha he reliance retail wale sab bechte he but phir bhi rush nhi he jabki dmart ki inventory us se kam he or rush of people double.... So don't compare and see in next diwali dmart cross 5500 easily...
DMART should focus on centralised purchase and not depend upon local purchase. This will be difficult, but if executed, it will help both the customers and management for sure.....
That's why kerala's Lulu hypermart group is growing because they also own land and property but they give an experience like amusement park from food brands, play zone to roller coaster everything inside single mall. With their first mall in Kochi in india to 2nd largest mall in india in Trivandrum, Kerala all super profitable
Wherever dmart operates , they buy the land too and build their store on it ....why dont they also build residential appartment above it and get more operating leverage with margin expansion , Residential appartment have 4x margin of FMCG
That is not how business works. Dmart is not Reliance or Tata. They focus on a particular segment. If tomorrow Bajaj tries to make a supercar like Lamborghini, Ferrari how do you think the market will respond to that? Just put Dmart in that.
@anirudhyachakraborty7680 Lamborghini and Ferrari are legacy automotive brand , highly specialised in engeneering and automotive - very hard to replicate and succeed On the other hand , real estate is relatively low skill business with 0 - negligible brand value / easy to replicate or outsource
@@Rohit_Sharma- it's not brother. It's not about Legacy brands or anything of sorts. I just cited one example. Okay think something like the Raheja's. They are the landlords of the country in real estate space. If tomorrow Raheja group launches a 3 wheelers EV brand will that enhance their reputation? Or do they even have any expertise in that. Same with D Mart. It was created as an alternative for BigBazar. They are not in real estate space. Max to max what they can do is to take leverage via leasing land & increase footprint
We have stopped going to demart becuase of Rush & People's bad civic sense. This diwali also we purchased from local kirana shop he also gave discount with free home delivery.
Yes... always support small vendors/kirana stores whenever possible.. doing this from last 15 years.. I have only heard about Dmart..big bazar..star-bazar.. big basket and what not... just big names...
I kinda disagree. There was a research by indus vallesy which describes India in three catagory top 10% which is affluent, next 30% which is solid middle class. And next all of them. Bro, in the current inflation scenario which is not going to cool down in future, D-Mart have their own space and price. It's logically wrong to compare D-Mart with commerce. Another thing is D-Mart is big company so doing quick commerce is not big deal for them, but their growth model is different and it's all depend upon store opening strategy. In future if D-mart open more store then the margin and profit will be huge so i am okay with 12-15 % CAGR for next 3-5 year.
Good Analysis. I agree that these quick commerce companies are just playing the valuation game. They are here to make money like byjus and don't care about long term sustainability.
It will change with generation. Gen z gen alpha will more tend to prefer quick commerce or in metro cities they prefer quick commerce because of traffic and hassle. Dmart can have QC in metro and continue to operate same way in tier 2 cities
Please make video on NIFTY NEXT 50 Analysis. None of the influencer had created any video on Nifty next 50 every one is talking about Nifty 50 is fairly valued although Nifty next 50 is also fairly valued.
I am from Bangalore snd Bilnkit Zepto has jacked up the local price of all food items. Now vegitable fruit sellers have baselined lrices based on Blinkit and Zepto prices. Noone is making money except VCs in future when they offload to retail investor. Inflation is sticky and will neber go down.
As an Dmart employee, I also agree with that. During previous year of Diwali, our sale was crossing 1cr for almost 8-9 times during that month. And if we talk about our monthly sale during Diwali period , it was around 16cr . But in current year our sale was only 11cr in month of Diwali. I am unable to understand the cause behind that.
Quick commerce will be limited to urgently required items for which one cannot waste time in going to D-Mart and standing there. Items like milk, bread, or any item which is needed urgently. People still prefer to go to D-Mart once in 15 days to replenish their stock at home. Quick commerce will affect the stores in the neighborhood to which we usually resort incase of urgently required items. D-Mart can easily get into quick commerce as their own stores in city can act like a warehouse for the small dark stores within the 5-10 km radius. It becomes much faster and cheaper option for Dmart than the other quick commerce platform as they will have to lease everything, even big stores. Dmart also has an advantage price. Dmart already has strong supply chain penetrated in major states. They will only need to add last node like dark store in the states where they have strong network of stores. In other states they can easily expand with their expertise.
Dmart is here to stay. Offline retail ka king 👑. Dmart mein bheer dekhlo kabhi khatam nahi hota. So being a dmart investor like to hold dmart for long term
Sab thik hai. Lekin start up aur quick commerce ka problem hai. They will never be profitable. They will burn money till close. D Mart is profitable. generally companies go to hibernate mode in which they make profits but they don't grow. But it will last for 3 to 5 years. In this period quick commerce Wale Paisa burn karke khud jal jayenge. Aur phir yah D mart phir chalegi. Dekho godrej consumer ko. Silently work kar rahi hai. Kisi se kuch Lena Dena nahi hai. Where start ups har saal loss me ja rahe hai.

Thanks for another insightful video. A slight dichotomy. If you mention 50/55 cr shop via local kiranas and super markets like Dmart and only 5/6 cr via quick commerce, how would the scales tilt in favour of qcom unless the volumes increase significantly or the purchase value goes up? I am sure a seasoned investor like Radha Krishna Damani will take corrective action. I am a regular shopper at Dmart and whenever I go the shop is chic a bloc with shoppers. Therefore, I am confident bthat the scale in terms of no of new shops and expansion in North/North East will soon follow. Remember 'Slow and steady wins the race" and eventually they tortoise triumphs over the rabbit
Dmart is best. I can save 1500 rs around on mrp with just 10rs travelling cost. Also I am middle class person. No free delivery no online Order. I don’t think it’s convenient. Ek month Mei ek din tu milia hi hai. ITNa v busy ni hona hai life. Offline shopping se field knowledge v milta hai
If you are shopping in Dmart and saving 5 rupees per article and buying a total of 40 items in your monthly groceries. You can save a maximum of 200 rupees and it is not a big deal for most of us, so people prefer quick commerce.
Nope, Dmart is still giving a better price than anyone else in the Market. For example, 1L of refined oil costs 140-150 in qCommerce but the same item you will find in Dmart only for 110-115. They can't compete with Dmart, though Local Kirana Stores that mostly sell on MRP will be taken over by qCommerce soon. Because of Free Delivery at the Same Price.
@thevishwass actually, you visit star bazar... They give better discounts than dmart and also sell veg fruits... Issue is small star bazar stores have less options... That's why trent has become a rocket stock
As the video mentioned it might be helpful for upper middle class but middle class will still prefer discounted items. Plus you don't know when SC or Govt pass a rule against quick commerce as it do impact safety of drivers. And that will kill the only advantage of quick commerce
One of the miss in today's video was the leverage used by corporates like Avenue Supermarts when the interest rates are down to build up the store chain... In last couple of years the interest rates are high in account to curb the inflation, which affected the rural growth in India and more importantly reduced the liquidity..... Leverage was not easily accessible to the corporate sector... With falling IR however, the situation will be much better....
the only fck up Dmart are doijng is not targetting more Tier 2 cities , until n unless they dont do that they will see decline in profit n revenue In Tier 2 cities , people love visiting such type of stores , its like outing to most of the people Near my home , we have V mart (most of the time , customers are there ) As in tier 2 , tier 3 cities , the options to visit places for outing are minimal so still people prefer going to super marts , which is a kind of outing along with that they buy their household stuffs Also lands are cheaper as compare to Tier 1 cities This is something i did mailed Dmart back in 2k21 , that target state like UP, Bengal , Bihar , Jharkhand < Odisha , then u will see a good result Zudio (TATA) knew the advantage of opening stores in Tier 2 cities and its now yielding them good results Dmart should religiously think about their approach
i live in Lucknow, they don't even have a single store of Dmart in here. This is tier 1 city with huge malls like LuLu, where we have to wait for billing even with the 20 billing counters, but still Dmart is ignoring such large audience even with such competitive prices.
I am using Dmart ready for delivery (50 rs) for last 2 years. Only use local shop for buying curd 3 times a week. Blinkit/zepto will be there, but it won't kill Dmart. Never..
In bangalore, stores like lulu hypermarket and spar are very competitive for dmart prices. And if dmart doesn't cope up with them, dmart is gonna be history like big bazaar very soon in bangalore and similar cities
When country stage their phase from developing to developed economic it will affect small shops. Look at USA you won't get that much small shops but people prefer wallmart and Costco. The way people goes to Dmart is future.
Dmart can build up other businesses on the existing infrastructure and land. Like parking theatres, etc. Each dmart outlet can be transformed into a mini mall. Hope the board has this kinda vision or they can hire me 😅
3rd party services(Quick commerce) has to keep prices little high when compare to stores to keep in the business and also has to charge for delivery service.

But if you visit dmart stores they have their regular customers intact and most of them are happy. A trend seen is those customers are less likely to use quick commerce like blinkit or instamart. Most of the dmart customers plan their entire months budget and buy at once in bulk. Long term growth is intact. I dont see any of their core customers shifting.
All i can see is that retail is selling & institutions are buying. Even it's shareholder number is constantly decreasing. It was pumped up like anything. Now rationalizing. And I feel, once there's rate cut, it will start to grow again.
Zudio offers quality clothes at fair prices? I recently purchased clothes from zudio but what I feel, that I could have bought same from other local shop at lower price but still zudio is conveince!
I don't want to extra pay to blinkit or zepto for just fast delivery... I can save big chunk by just going to near by dmart on Sunday in month with 20 rs of petrol..
Yeh quick commerce bs big city ke liye accha hai why vaha pr availablity ka bada question hai t1 city ke liye good hai but t2 t3 nd 4 ke liye useless hai Yeh d Mart vale easily market uska cover kr sakte hai pr opportunity ko thik se grab nai ki voh unka minus point hai in logo ke pass itna availablity hai major state fir bhi beat nai kr paye
i am a working professional based in Bengaluru. I stay alone in rented apartment and its been 3 years since i shifted here. There is a dmart store like 3kms aways from my home. In last 3 years i have visited dmart max 3-4 times, bcz i buy everything possible from Quick commerce or Amazon/Flipkart.
Jaise Zomato aur Swiggy aane ke baad bhi dine-in restaurants ka business chalu hai. Waise hi quick commerce ke sath sath departmental stores bhi chalu hi rahenge... Yes, competitors can coexist.
Quick commerce is a luxury, and not everyone will use or can afford it everytime or even need it. A large part of customers look for value which is available in stores like dmart. I am a regular customer from 10 years and I'd choose quick delivery only for highly urgent needs because they are expensive. Not to foget the experience part of shopping which is missing in quick commerce. Also, we never know how sustainable this model is. Now they might be burning investor money but once they start monetizing it, people may turn back to supermarket stores.
Only one example if you want biskut of 5 rupees and we only preferred near shop not a zepto or swigi And one example if dmart is open in city near all grocery stores are shut down so dont campare to qukly purchase
I have full trust in Mr. Radhakishan Damani, all analysis you have done definitely known to him and he knows how to handle it. He has seen lots of ups and downs in life. Demart's business model is for the long run.
Then why only dmart....there are other players too like jio mart, reliance retail, star bazaar, etc. I think these business category is completely separate but somewhere it is getting impacted by the quick commerce too in big cities. Thats why now they are starting stores in tier2 cities. If i am not wrong RD sir business planning is for long term without losses, thats why they buy the land n build their stores.
Previously, dmart faced almost no competition. Today, however, numerous marts and wholesale kirana stores can match dmart's pricing. Additionally, I believe that while quick commerce may capture some of their market share, it won’t significantly impact their business. People have also realized that shopping at dMart often leads to spending more on unnecessary items
Quick commerce companies will not be able to survive for a long time. D-Mart is the king of offline shopping due to its high footfall. If D-Mart has paused its operations, it is certainly working on some inovation; we will have to wait a little longer.

Why reliance smart point is not a competer of D-mart??
I also skip D-mart most of the time and go for reliance.
Bhai smart point pe basic chij jaise ki dry coconut ( khobra ) bhi nai milta

This person EXPECTING SOMETHING FROM DMART MANAGEMENT😅😅
10:31 Dmart already in the process of developing dark stores. Soon they will enter quick commerce.
Tu Damaad Hai Kya Dmart ka ?
@gurugantaal5782 🤣🤣

Dmart will definitely survive at our mulund outlet there is no place to stand,it's packed n Indians love to see n shop
I'm not sure about the future of Dmart, but as long as it exists, it'll keep growing its customer base.
Wherever dmart operates , they buy the land too and build their store on it ....why dont they also build residential appartment above it and get more operating leverage with margin expansion ,
Residential appartment have 4x margin of FMCG
That is not how business works. Dmart is not Reliance or Tata. They focus on a particular segment. If tomorrow Bajaj tries to make a supercar like Lamborghini, Ferrari how do you think the market will respond to that? Just put Dmart in that.
@anirudhyachakraborty7680 Lamborghini and Ferrari are legacy automotive brand , highly specialised in engeneering and automotive - very hard to replicate and succeed
On the other hand , real estate is relatively low skill business with 0 - negligible brand value / easy to replicate or outsource
@@anirudhyachakraborty7680 that was a satisfactory response , 👍
Rather than going into quick commerce Dmart start giving online same day or 1 day delivery within the city where they have stores.
We have stopped going to demart becuase of Rush & People's bad civic sense. This diwali also we purchased from local kirana shop he also gave discount with free home delivery.

Still trading at high PE. Probably more room to fall.
It will change with generation. Gen z gen alpha will more tend to prefer quick commerce or in metro cities they prefer quick commerce because of traffic and hassle.
Dmart can have QC in metro and continue to operate same way in tier 2 cities

As an Dmart employee, I also agree with that. During previous year of Diwali, our sale was crossing 1cr for almost 8-9 times during that month. And if we talk about our monthly sale during Diwali period , it was around 16cr . But in current year our sale was only 11cr in month of Diwali. I am unable to understand the cause behind that.
People are relying on quick commerce, also, many feel that the DMart in-house product quality is inferior.
Spoiler Dmart Quick commerce Comming soon
Dmart is here to stay. Offline retail ka king 👑. Dmart mein bheer dekhlo kabhi khatam nahi hota. So being a dmart investor like to hold dmart for long term

D Mart is profitable. generally companies go to hibernate mode in which they make profits but they don't grow. But it will last for 3 to 5 years.
You are not considering the over priced veg fruits and mrp we pay on packaged items in quick commerce....

With falling IR however, the situation will be much better....
the only fck up Dmart are doijng is not targetting more Tier 2 cities , until n unless they dont do that they will see decline in profit n revenue
In Tier 2 cities , people love visiting such type of stores , its like outing to most of the people
Near my home , we have V mart (most of the time , customers are there )
As in tier 2 , tier 3 cities , the options to visit places for outing are minimal so still people prefer going to super marts , which is a kind of outing along with that they buy their household stuffs
Also lands are cheaper as compare to Tier 1 cities
This is something i did mailed Dmart back in 2k21 , that target state like UP, Bengal , Bihar , Jharkhand < Odisha , then u will see a good result
Zudio (TATA) knew the advantage of opening stores in Tier 2 cities and its now yielding them good results

Impressive introduction 👍 Prasad
Only one example if you want biskut of 5 rupees and we only preferred near shop not a zepto or swigi
And one example if dmart is open in city near all grocery stores are shut down so dont campare to qukly purchase
Damani can add online segment easily.and he ia believer in profit.others are burning cash.others are not in position to give discount as delivery cost will be always higher
