- It's not every day that you find a camper conversion complete with a record player!
Well we have, and in this video you get to see it.
Welcome to the Burro Ambulante.
This former front line ambulance has been lovingly repurposed by Neil and Jessica, they have integrated some of the original ambulance fittings, and then used other bits and pieces from their house and charity shops to complete the build. Why Burro Ambulante? Jessica explains. Watch out for a surprise reveal as well, here's a hint, you have to stand in order to use it!

I love, love, love this build!!!! The toilet is brilliant!!!!! I may have to steal that idea. The colours are perfect. I am surprised they didn't paint the oven to match everything. The AC is a bit large, but you have to work with what you have. Also a cute place for the Chihuahuas. I actually have one that looks just like the black ones.

We hope to meet you too. We will do Camp Off Grid again next year and we are just looking at dates for that. We should be having a weekend at Castleton again soon too.

Oh my word and people have occasionally called me quirky. This is without doubt the quirkiest camper I have seen to date. Not exactly my cup of tea but, still love it and what a nice couple. Those three chihuahuas seem very well behaved. Hilarious pee pipe. Thanks for posting

They have just sold this one. I think they are converting another now. Our conversion is the passenger transfer ambulance style.
Best I've seen in many yrs. . Loved how you used and get every inch of that van. . Deffo changed my thoughts about design love to see more from that yellow ambulance

I think they said it was Spanish or Italian and they have relatives. They also wanted to keep some of the heritage of the vehicle but also have a derivative of the word Ambulance to connect with other aspects of their life. It is a great conversion ❤👍😀
Hi Leighton, we affectionatly named our ambulance our Donkey when we first got it, BURRO AMBULANTE is Spanish for Wandering/Travelling (gently) Donkey :-) Jessica grew up in Spain and we like vehicle names that begin with 'B', we used to have a motor home called Borris. :-)
We've been told that in Italian Burro Ambulante means either Walking Butter or a street vendor of butter haha either way still yellow so it works 😂

Nick Jury its 240v we use inverter you do get a slight buzzing but I’m hoping to rectify with a suppressor

Do you still have to blue lights and sirens? Or did you disconnect them?
The law states that blues and twos have to be removed before an ambulance is sold privately to prevent any nefarious use.
Why is that then?

May I ask is this insured as an Ambulance or a campervan?
It is insured as campervan. It would be illegal to be insured as an ambulance.
@@CampervanTales I don't know who told you that but that is not the case. You can insure any vehicle within reason as a private ambulance.
@@notwhereyouthink if you have an accident and it looks like a campervan, the insurance will not pay out. Also it has to be taxed as a motor caravan.
How does that washing machine work?
Like an old dolly tub from back in the day. Operator agitates the paddle.

I guess decor whether in a van or home is a very personal choice. This really suited them both as they are a quirky and lovely couple.
