- After her victory in the 5k during the world championship Almaz Ayana proved to be too strong for Genzebe Dibaba. The 3k race in Zurich had all the elements of the Beijing 5k race. Ayana leading all the way to the finish, Dibaba struggling to keep up with the pace; Ayana looking relaxed and looking strong while Dibaba looked more and more exhausted as the race approaches the finish; only this time Dibaba attempting to go past Ayana only to find out she lacked the power and speed to do that. who the queen of the middle distance is in my opinion not yet decided.

Ayana has best techniques, she moves real fast and wares you out, because she has all her strength on her legs, she goes fast and while you trying to keep up with her, your already tired and off she goes like a crazy chick and wins..Both are good, the Kenyans were great, then Ethiopians, don't know why Somalis don't run, i believe they would be very good too..We need to motivate them...Well done my East African neighbours..

Something went wrong. This is not how Dibaba runs the last lap. Nothing personal against Ayana. She is the best candidate for 5K championship if she manages to keep a fast pace but Dibaba is definitely the El Guerrouj kind of runner while Ayana is more like Bekele.

Lot of praise for Ayana, no doubt great athelete. She keep the lead to the end majestically. The first 1000 meters was covered faster than 5000 meters. That was the key factor. The 2.46*3 make the tempo of the race.

Doubling up in either 800m or 1500m or 1,500m and 5,000m or 5,000m and 10,000m takes an athlete with supreme endurance. Dibaba does not have that at the moment.
