What to do about muscle imbalances 👇🏻 1. Match reps per side, with a caveat. Most people do the weak side first, then stop their strong side. Instead, try pushing the strong side as normal then matching the weak side with as many Rest Pause/Myo Rep sets as needed. 2. Let your technique change side to side. We're asymmetrical by design, so we shouldn't expect both sides to move the exact same. Need to rotate your leg out more? Rotate your arm in more? Do it. If you force yourself to be unnaturally symmetrical it may be limiting your comfort and performance on the weaker side. 3. Stop worrying about it. No matter what you see on social media, imbalances don't always lead to pain or performance issues. Often, they HELP performance e.g. in elite athletes. And what CAN lead to pain is catastrophizing about a problem that doesn't exist i.e. the nocebo effect.
@@Mido_ What he means is starting with weaker side and doing the same number of reps with stronger side. You should not do that because the progress on stronger side is slower than progress on the weaker side and it will eventually catch up.
@@Mido_i mean if you do it the other way (pause set/myo/) your weaker side would probably catch up too but it also doesn’t limit the progressing on your dominant side
Perfectly symmetrical muscles are very rare, especially considering that some people's muscles attach at slightly different points etc so there's no way they'll ever look the same
@@productofmymind4860100%, and heaps of people have asymmetrical abs, more specifically their Rectus abdominis, it doesn’t make their abs look any less awesome.
My lats are uneven, but then again so are the love handles. one bicep is slightly bigger than the other, same with the long head of the tricep on the other arm. The inner forearm muscle pops out more on one arm.
This!!! As a physiotherapist I would love for this to reach each and every corner of the globe! You have no idea how many times a week I have to repeat that we are asymmetrical by nature to my patients. Also loved your tips, never thought about the 1st one
We're not symmetrical back to front. He seems to miss the point that it's not left/right imbalance that's serious but front/back. Nearly everyone has impinged shoulders because tight chests and weak backs. Back pain from sitting, anterior pelvic tilt, so many serious painful problems come from front / back imbalance.
I'm trying to think in some structure that isn't symmetrical in the brain, but there isn't any 🧐. Even unique structures are symmetrical because they're in the midline
Dude, I cannot emphasise how much this has helped, I was so confused and I was forcing the left side of my body into painful and uncomfortable positions to make my form perfectly symmetrical. This was the only issue I could not figure out and find away around, hearing this was an absolute Godsend.
This is truly brilliantly shot. I’ve always respected your style and substance, but the clearness of thought with the overall message here hit me very differently. Kudos on a wonderful short.
After working out for a year, it starting to develop in me. Thinking my right and left arm is different and I am trying to make it similar which in long time will be body dysmorphia. Your video and another person make me accept that perfect does not really mean identical or simetrical, it is in our mind. Really thank you for the message
Thank you man. I was always worried about the imbalance in my body as my muscles started to grow. I thought my exercises were wrong, worried that the muscles in my arms were not balanced, the same in terms of muscle density which manifested itself in visible differences in the size of certain muscle groups, similarly with the chest but now that I saw your video and you explained that it is normal maybe I'll stop worrying about it so much
I really needed this, feeling like I was off and imbalanced in my muscle mass, especially with my left arm feeling smaller and weaker. Thank you so much
Thank you for being able to explain it like that. I felt such a relief. Like my body doesn’t have to be perfect like the people I see on the internet. Because I’m created perfectly imbalanced.
My right bicep peak and insertion are different from my left bicep. I used to worry about it all the time but I don’t worry as much now because I know it will never be perfectly symmetrical. U don’t need perfection to have an outstanding physique👑🔱
Amazing advice, growing up i was pretty insecure about my abs and pecs since they were asymmetrical but now I’ve matured and gotten over it. Its not in my control and its not a bad thing to be asymmetrical. I went from feeling different to feeling special cause my psych is one of a kind🗣️🔥🔥🔥

Thank you! I just noticed how my right shoulder is a bit bigger than my left and yet your video was perfect timing. Do my best to have good form and work both sides, but don’t sweat a bit asymmetrical. Love it! Subscribed 😊
Thank you so much for making me more accepting of my body. Today I noticed my left biceps and triceps are larger than my right and I was about to launch a campaign of alternating bicep curls. Maybe I will still attempt to balance my arms but now I I will do it by coming from a place of more love and acceptance of nature rather than scorn for my body.
I used to worry about this when I first got into weight lifting and even before because I looked odd but now that I’m built I can care less. I think the imperfections are forms of art from within.
Love ur vids on imbalances. I believe u said something to the effect that the imbalances we see are pretty much only noticeable to ourselves and that applied to this vid for me. Wouldnt of even seen an imbalance in ur physique until u pointed it out 💪
Working on your anterior sling and posterior sling will fix all imbalances . I had imbalances from playing baseball being one arm dominar . After correcting my anterior sling (pelvic floor external obliques and front delts ), while also working on the opposite posterior sling ( rear delt, lat, and glute mean .) I trained my sling in a cross pattern, front right pelvic floor with front right internal oblique crossing over to front left external oblique and front left delt . And for posterior sling I worked in a cross pattern as well , right rear delt , right lats, left glute mean , and left outer hip. These slings that our body naturally has can get loose or tight which cause the imbalances . It has nothing to do with our organ imbalances . If you target your sling pattern and fix the tight or loose slings you will fix and achieve proper balance . In your entire body.
Brother, I didn’t even realise there was an “imbalance” until you literally had to point it out. Fellas, we are our worst enemy at times, keep at the hard work but not at the expense of ourselves . Great video regardless my guy 😎👍
Well if its strictly muscle, I think symmetry is the ideal scenario. For example, my left leg used to be weaker but recently I focused more on squats, developed more muscle in my left leg, and can now use it to make more of my daily activities easier.

There's a difference between 'balance' and 'symmetry'. Both terms are of little use in functional anatomy where 'tropism' is a more helpful term
