Turtles are doing this to turtles. There are to many in a small area. If have seen this a lot in a overstocked turtle pond. Even in my own a view years ago
I cringed when I first saw this channel last year. Although the keeper stated it is fine for so many different species to be kept in such close proximity, this is proof it is NOT. I have loved animals and tutrles all of my life, (57 yrs) and its painful to see them kept in captivity. No matter how nice the cage looks. When man interferes, it ALWATLYS spells trouble.
Alligators can't bite pieces off it must be a bigger snapping turtle. Maybe the smaller turtles fall for the bigger ones hunting techniques and when they go for the worm/tongue they get their face bitten off.
That is just terrible, one of my least favorite issues to resolve with my animal babies: finding the bully. I'll be praying for all your little guys, thanks for taking us on the journey Kenan!
I've seen noses and tails like hers before, but those were frostbite related, from turtles that didnt quite go into hibernation early enough, or possibly came out of hibernation too soon and were swimming about when the last frost hit (i live in Maine). That being said, i've also seen snapping turtles large enough i am 99% sure they could kill and eat a full grown Cougar if the opportunity arose...Largest one i saw as a kid, was actually big enough the tribe decided he had to go, since he was in our big retention pond we used for a number of things (swimming hole, but also in case we hit a drought). Some may not like this, but he was so large that when he was finally caught and dragged out of the pond, we couldnt get him lifted up into a truck for transport, so we did as we Native do, and made sure to use every bit of him. We needed an Engine lift to pick him up once we had put him down, and it required a 1/2 ton pick up to have enough bed space to put the body into. His shell was nearly 4 feet from front to rear, and he weighed close to 80pounds. Tribes elders said he was largest turtle they had ever seen, and some of them were over 90 at the time. His shell was used to create a traditional 'shrine' of sorts, which we use to hopefully bring good fortune. My Tribe views Turtle as a Spirit of Health and Longevity. We would have simply moved the old shellboy to another pond if we had been able to get him into a container large enugh and then lift said container, but we simply lacked the resources, there were very few places like Kamp Kenan to help with such things back in the late 90s.
@@kanaetyrell4410 that was his other filtered pond. He put it there so he could examine it. The original pond is where all the turtles live but that pond is too dirty to see through.

I used to have a small pond with turtles in and the same thing happened. I had turtles with limbs bitten off and several with their face bitten off. Found out it was raccoons raiding the pond and trying to eat my turtles. I must have lost 4-5 turtles. And others survived but were missing some limbs but they healed up and lived for a lot of years. I took them out of the pond and kept them in a big tank on my porch.
I love turtles. I just found your channel. How do you keep all these different species in the pond and keep them from escaping or becoming invasive. I wish I had a place to own hundreds of turtles lol
Here in Spokane, Wa, the ponds freeze over. Curious about what turtles do when they can't surface? The serial face biter must be Clyde the creeper. Good luck.
