Tortoise lives matter too! This one looks like a wise old man; If he could speak he would probably give humans some good advice like slow down and focus on the important things more. I am glad Sam didn't listen to the people who advised he be put down. I hope grandpa tortoise has many more years ahead of him, Long live the Tortoise King!

"Look at the poop!!!" Folks have no idea how important your poop is... it basically tells the health of your body!!! I've been in the medical field for 40 years... one of the very first questions asked when someone is sick is... When was your last BM?? Keep up the wonderful work you both do!!

Agreed. I've been in the nutrition field for 20 years. You have to have a healthy gut - its essential to every function of the body, including the brain.
No poop, hard poop, runny poop, etc., it all tells a story.

One of the things I love about Kenan is that we has friends that he values from all walks of life. It’s refreshing to see someone on the platform that doesn’t care how famous someone is or how much “clout” they have. It’s important to show how valuable it is being friends with people for who they are, not just how they fit your image.

I donated some money to Sam to help with the medical expenses and I put the link in my bio where others could donate to help HMS. Thank you for sharing. We have a Desert Tortoise named Tortuga. He wasn't doing well either, not bleeding though. He won't eat and had a rattling sound. Took him to the vet. Have to give him shots every four days. He is doing better. We put him in a kiddie pool because it got up to 105° in AZ. Looks like rain today, we don't want to put him in his habitat because it is too far away to monitor him.

I love that decade he does in his intro every time I watch it. As a retired bmx rider (don't have the time anymore between 2 kids and work and can't risk injury bcuz I have to work) but I can still remember when he came out with the decade first back in the day. Kenan is not just a reptile keeper legend but he's also a bmx legend with the likes of mirra (rip) nyquist nastazio ect. Much respect to you kenan. I hope you see this bcuz you were and still one of my favorite riders ever. I idolized you and the other top guys as a kid. Im 30 years old now and man does time fly but I'll never forget the golden age of bmx with you right at the top. Bmx is full of hipsters and a bunch of dudes that ate horrible examples for the youngsters. You guys were actually good dudes we looked up to and aspired to be. Thanks for all the legendary bmx memories and the reptile work you do today. You truly are great in what ever you set your mind and heart into. Don't ever change kenan. I honestly don't think you will. Your not that type of person. Thanks again for all the great bmx memories. I'm thinking of starting a channel on my panther chameleon but Idk. Well see.

Just like Sam said I have a Blue and Gold Macaw who has caught pneumonia twice. And just to tell you in case you dont know birds are like tortoises by the time you notice they are sick it is too late. However, since we hold our bird and listen to her everyday we noticed right away that something did not sound right. We took her to the vet and sure enough she had gotten sick. Even the vet was impressed! He said he hardly ever sees a bird who gets sick that makes it! So long story short pay close attention to you animals. You have to know what that animal looks like and sounds like everyday to know when there is a problem.

From Wikipedia on the efficacy of Yunnan Baiyao: "Oral administration was shown to produce negligible results in laboratory tests.[2] In vitro studies have suggested a theoretical benefit in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.[21] Some studies have found heavy metal levels below oral tolerance levels, however the significance of this finding is not known.[22] Multiple routes of drug administration results in varying degrees of efficacy. Topical administration has been shown to have a degree of efficacy possibly through ultrastructural changes in platelets and platelet-constituent release. The effect of Yunnan Baiyao on the coagulation biochemical system has not been fully elucidated, but it has been suggested that the expression of glycoproteins on platlets plays a role.[23] One in vitro study found that Yunnan Baiyao causes dose and time dependent hemangiosarcoma cell death through initiation of caspase-mediated cell apoptosis in a canine cell cancer line but did not suggest usefulness in patients.[24] Another study found no significant difference from placebo regarding buccal mucosal bleeding time, prothrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time, and clotting parameters in canines.[25] There is no high-quality evidence supporting the use of Yunnan Baiyao for either rheumatoid arthritis or hemangiosarcoma available in publicly reported scientific literature as of 2019."

That Herb: Yunnan Baiyao was invented in 1902 by Dr. Qu Huanzhang in Yunnan, China. Over the past 100 years, Yunnan Baiyao made its name in the battlegrounds of Chinese fighting against Japanese invasion in World War II and of the Vietcong fighting against the USA during the Vietnam War by saving soldiers' lives from wounds.
In China, Yunnan Baiyao may be used as first-aid for any kind of traumatic injury or internal bleeding, whether one has a small cut, bruise, swelling, an internal injury from accidents or fighting, or bleeding from surgery etc.† One may simply pour the Yunnan Baiyao powder on to the cut and/or swallow the powder.
In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) terms, Yunnan Baiyao stops bleeding, disperses blood stasis, activates blood circulation, alleviates pain, clears away toxins, and reduces swelling.† In studies, Yunnan Baiyao is shown to shorten the bleeding time and clotting time.
Doctors in China also let patients take Yunnan Baiyao before surgeries (0 to 5 days) because studies show that Yunnan Baiyao can reduce the amount of bleeding during operation.1,2 When applied after operation, Yunnan Baiyao may promote healing from the wound.†
The exact ingredients and production procedure of Yunnan Baiyao are still state secrets of China. It is believed that the main Chinese herb is San Qi, or called Tien Chi, Panax pseudoginseng, Panax notoginseng, Notoginseng.

I saved him once from a major lung infection but years later he didn’t survive some bad newly added tank mates I didn’t realize were loaded with parasites. I really should have quarantined the two females before I put them in with him but they seemed to healthy and were eating great when I got them.
