Classic Gestapo tactic, literally. So when a young man hears the term “toxic masculinity” he should let the school administration know! In corporate America HR has been doing this for 40 years. I saw so many men confronted with a complaint filed “in confidence”. The best answer I heard an accused ask is “who?” Cannot help you if I don’t know who said it.

I met with a grad student from Thailand - about 15 years ago. She was troubled by her experience at her former school where she was recruited by school authorities to inform on her fellow students. She will carry her shame.

Snitching on fellow students shouldn't be encouraged BUT snitching on corrupt, radical teachers should be!

I thought this would cover what I went through somewhat 25 years ago. Fake Snitching was rampant when I went to school. Cliques of kids, friend groups, would bully outsider type kids who had no friends, usually kids that lived near the school and all hung out together after school every day as they didnt have to rush to take a bus on an hour long trip to their homes in a rural area with no kids nearby. These groups of kids found it entertaining to bully individual students often 10 vs 1, including in school yard fights. The group would then collectively tell teachers the individual student instigated the situation and resorted to violence.
This escalated to the groups just going straight to lying to the teachers about situations that never happened, often resulting in school suspensions. Whenever interrogated by the teachers, they teachers would say the same argument, "Why would 10+ students all say the same thing". The teachers just couldnt fathom that a group of students would weaponize the authority figures to do the bullying for them. So ontop of being beaten up, stolen from, and constantly harassed, a student can also be labelled a "trouble maker" given multiple detentions and suspensions, forced to miss school, and inevitably switching to homeschooling as my parents believed me, but found there was nothing they can do about the teachers only believing the groups of students making the reports.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who experienced this, and you even see these tropes in film. This is the new form of bullying, and I fear it will never go away, it seems more rampant now than ever, and it seems a particular group has discovered this weapon and is going pretty hard on it. Not just in schools, not just to authorities, this is now happening as a social movement, with false claims spouted to the general public to further their movement. Attempting to weaponize public opinion against opposing views is also probably nothing new, its just a new group is using it.
Its called playing the victim, whoever can best play the victim wins the sympathy, and demonizes their opposition.

Same. Teachers (“educators”) have got to be the stupidest creatures on the planet. And yes it’s being weaponized a a social level by these childish people. At least we have recording devices now.

During the COVID layoffs one of the people that got let go was the company snitch. We were all joking that HR would have nothing to do now that she was gone and couldn't report on all sorts of overheard comments that she insisted were all "racist."

This isn't a new phenomenon. I'm in my 50s, and while the key words have changed the emphasis on snitching to "authorities" rather than learning to solve our own problems was already universal.
Government schools teach, in every conceivable case, to defer to authorities. It is their only true universal philosophy.

Budapest's Museum of Terror is housed in the former fascist, (Hitler was in fact funded by Union bank, American and other western bankers, industrialists and Royals) then later communist headquarters. Neighbors would inform on each other, like they did in East Germany. Prisoners were tortured, and often kept hunched over in concrete rooms the size of a dog cage, and without light. What struck me was the facial expressions of guards vs. prisoners in photographic artifacts. Guards scowled and looked like the grinch - a darkness in their eyes, while the prisoners all had a look of humanity about them. Unfortunately, concerns over snitch culture in America are often overlooked or dismissed because the severity of these campaigns in many other regimes around the world are perceived as worse.

Usually people have a negative (or positive) opinion of a particular group based on their own personal experiences with that group. When people have no, or extremely limited, contact with members of another group they really have no opinion of them at all, good or bad.
