    Morning Jane, lovely to see your blog today. You always speak so honestly, sets me up for a good week. I'd be inclined to send those trousers back anyway Jane. You've got proof of purchase.

      Hi Emma. Thank you for such a kind message. I decided to keep the trousers and shed a pound or two. I need to work on getting back to my 124/127 lbs comfy place. They would be fine then I think. Joe said if I swapped them for the next size the bum, thighs and leg would look too baggy. Might help keep me on track lol. Stay safe. Much love Jane xx

    I am exactly the same with salad. I don't like it in big pieces on a plate, but love it chopped up small in a bowl with some hot things on. I really don't like artichokes though. Well, I had them once in the cafe at the Lakeland shop in Kendal and thought they were nice, but when I bought a tin in brine, I really didn't like them. I have lots of Oxo Good Grips stuff. It is always nice to hold and lasts forever. Take care both and stay safe. Shell X

      Hi Shell. I think you would like the Oxo Good Grips salad chopper. I’ hopeful it will get me to eat more salad and chopped veg or fruit. Lynn Rich says she uses her’s a lot and wouldn’t want to be without it. Fifty quid does seem a bit steep but you get what you pay for and it had to come from the States. Oxo G.G. are headquartered in New York I believe. The Green Giant artichoke hearts are nice. We tried some others from Sainsburys which were in brine and I thought they seemed slimy. I’ll have to hide some if I want to get a look in before Joe devours them all. If he can drag himself away from his aubergines lol. He slices the aubergine lengthways and uses half of one at a time. He slices the half into 3 or 4 long slices and steams it for 9 minutes on the stove. He then dices it and mixes it into his rice with garlic, black cumin and tomato powder. It’s yummy lol. He must have looked strange in Asda with 6 big aubergines lined up on top of about £70 worth of fruit and veg. We are changing to click and collect from Saturday next as the Asda hypermarket by where we live is so busy. Yesterday it was packed just as if it was Christmas. I don’t like it in the current climate. We have lockdown but you’d never guess? Last time they only allowed 300 shoppers in at any one time. You had to join a queue outside. Now it’s a free for all and I felt pushed around yesterday. Hoping to avoid the crowds and stay safe. Sending much love Jane xx

    Another great video.
    I love the sound of the care mitts , they sound a lot safer than oven gloves.
    I hate anything with palm oil & it is in so many products.
    I also love potatoes , they are a good old Comfort food 😋
    Have a good week and stay safe xxx

      Hi Rachel. I think you would like the silicon Instant Pot mits. Certainly the safest method I’ve ever used for hot pots, trays from the oven etc. I used to grab the tea towel and drive Joe mad. Now I keep the mits in the top cupboard next to the cooker and above my IP. No excuse not to use them. Check them out. They took about 2 weeks to come but I’m glad I bought them. They came all the way from Wisconsin U.S.A. I do love Amazon Prime for the free delivery. Stay safe. Much love Jane xx

    Hi Jane & Joe, just got around to watching your vlog, usually watch Saturdays but bit late. I have those oven gloves they are great the Grandchildren call them crocodiles. I hate having food cooked in tomato sauces and passata, I just use fresh tomatoes. Take care both and stay safe. xx

      You know how much I love Slimming World, well, the only bit I don’t love is that far too many recipes are tomato tomato tomato! When chicken is cooked in tomato it tastes like tomatoes. Likewise fish, mince etc. I think 90% of SW recipes contain chopped tinned tomatoes. Thankfully, we can think outside the box and add variety to our meals. I always have a couple of tins of organic chopped tomatoes on the top shelf, but rarely use them. The tomato powder is good to add a touch of tomato flavour to rice, buckwheat or millet after they are cooked. I use it pretty much like I use garlic or onion powder. Stay safe. Much love Jane xx

    Good afternoon just back in from church where it was a different type of rememberance service than were used to. I would definitely try taking back your trousers, can only try. I had to order brown cords online to pick up in the shop. Think this is the way it’s going to be for quite a while. Sad state of affairs. I want new walking shoes but I do feel I need to try something like that on. Stay safe down there and it’s nice listening to all your info on your new products . Well it’s walkies time for Hollie again so on with the waterproofs again . Do stay safe love Doris xx

      Hi Doris. Marks clothing shops are currently closed because of the national lockdown. Joe and I were just chatting about this and came to the conclusion that all I need to do is shed a few pounds and they’ll be fine. Size 12 would be too big and maybe I will focus and reduce my waist without too much effort. Shoes; I ordered a pair from Ecco on Thursday. Fortunately, I know my size in their shoes. Been wearing my Ecco boots for the last 4 days. Very cold and very foggy here since Friday. No rain though, that’s a blessing. Hope you and Holly got in a good walkies. Joe and I did about 16,000 steps before breakfast. I needed that today and felt better for it. Stay safe Doris. Much love Jane xx

    I have bought hemp milk for the first time after seeing it in your fridge last week. I have used it to make rice pudding and it's lovely.
    I ordered a pot like yours to cook my potatoes in my pressure cooker. Unfortunately it won't let me close the lid as its only a 5 litre so perhaps I needed a large one. The quality is great but sadly I can't use it.
    Thank you once again Jane and Joe. Always very helpful. 👍

      How long do you steam your Aubergine for please. It sounds interesting. I usually roast them and stack with roasted red onions and tomatoes and layered with fresh basil which I love. Thank you once again. Sending love to you. 🤗

    I like that hemp milk too and use it for porridge ... good luck with the salad bowl I looked at the wooden ones from American too and like you didn’t want to pay the postage... I manage with chopping up my salads with a knife on a board and then use a mezzaluna knife to make it smaller in the bowl I eat from ... may salads weigh over 2lb in weight I love them in the summer but not when it’s cold

    • @JaneDay
      @JaneDay  4 года назад +1

      The Holland bowls are so attractive but Joe says I wouldn’t have wanted to use it and spoil it lol. Nutmeg Notebook’s Tammy says her’s is getting a green patina from use. I think this might freak me out a bit. Also, having to re-oil it or wax it regularly might have been one step too far for lazy me. The mezzaluna knives are great but I think my fingers might be safer with the Oxo Good Grips chopper. If it gets me eating a variety of chopped salads, veg and fruit, I’ll be well satisfied. Stay safe. Much love Jane xx

    You have just reminded me that I need to buy some sun dried tomatoes. I went to the cupboard a few weeks ago to get some out to make my own tomato powder in my hi speed blender and they were way out of date so will be on this weeks shopping list. I’ve tried chopping my salad up small so I can get more on my plate but I’m not so keen on the texture when it’s done too much. I chop p it up a bit but not anything like chef AJ or nutmeg notebook .

    • @JaneDay
      @JaneDay  4 года назад

      I’ve only ever had sun dried tomatoes from a jar, in oil. I never thought of buying dried ones and putting them through the Nutri Bullet. Good idea but I’m sticking to the organic tomato powder now I’ve found it. I’m hoping the finely chopped salad, veg and fruit will inspire me to eat more of it. I do think Tammy and AJ probably eat massive portions of it while I’ll have mine with rice, millet or similar. Tammy doesn’t seem to eat a lot of carbs (especially grains). AJ doesn’t seem to eat a huge amount of anything saving for sweet potatoes and broccoli lol. Both of these ladies stay slim. AJ at around 119 lbs and Tammy at 125 lbs. I envy them their disciplined compliance to the WFPB plan. I love Tammy’s husband Tom. What a dear dear guy. Dump soup! He has me serving my homemade soups over big bowls of grains. Delicious! Stay safe. Much love Jane xx

    Hi Both 👋 Great video! Really loved to see everything you’re buying cos I know you and Joe delve into everything before purchasing! I spend flippin hours delving 😂 Now - bugger me! I swear I’m telepathically linked to you two! 😂 This week I’ve bought tomato powder and I’ve bought an artichoke from Ocado! I haven’t cooked it yet. We used to have artichokes years ago but dipped in butter of course. I saw an old video of Chef AJ who was cooking a pot full of them, so when I saw them available in Ocado, I thought - Yum! I’m going to cook it today in my new Instant Pot! Yes! It arrived yesterday. I’m a member of the club now 😂 What do you do with your artichoke hearts? Just eat them as another vegetable on your plate? Cos in the old days, they’d be served alone as a starter wouldn’t they. I’m loving my OXO salad bowl but I’m not sure I would have loved it quite so much if I hadn’t bought my Ulu chopper to use with it, rather than the mezzaluna which hurt my wrist after a few days of chopping. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Well, I’m off to purchase my Instant Pot Ker-Mitts 😂 Have a good week both. Take care x

    • @JaneDay
      @JaneDay  4 года назад +1

      Hey Mariah. Welcome to the IP Club! Joe stems the artichokes and we eat them with brown rice and steamed aubergine usually or just as an add on veg. I think I’m going to enjoy the salad chopper and bowl from Oxo Good Grips. I was a bit gobsmacked by the price and because the bowl doesn’t even have a non slip base, but, it was a gift from my little brother’s birthday money to me and I’m really really grateful that it might get me into salads. I love globe artichokes where you pull off each leaf and dip it in glorious hollandaise sauce. I have cooked these from fresh but I have never cooked a fresh artichoke from raw. The look of them and how to peel them threw me. Is a Jerusalem artichoke yet another variety from the cacti family? You’ll know I bet lol. We do like to delve into what we are buying before we leap in. The little mits are a very good buy and I use them for the oven trays too. The steamer basket I showed was for my 3 quart IP and works a dream. I steamed spuds and cauli whilst I was out walking this morning in the baby pot and it stands clear of the half a cup of water used to cook it. I love that the pots have timers and regularly set mine before I go to bed so we wake up to freshly cooked beans. Keep the comments coming. Stay safe. Much love Jane xx

      @@JaneDay I think you’ll love chopped salads. I totally agree, it’s bloody boring sitting down to a lettuce leaf and a tomato but I’ve got into the habit of preparing 6 salads at a time, keeping them in tupperware boxes (I can only fit 6 in my fridge) and then each lunchtime I empty out the contents into my OXO bowl, chop away until it’s all sort of pretty, then I add loads of beetroot, salsa, some sort of grain, some sort of beans, some sort of fruit, home grown sprouted seeds, and finally my wonderful balsamic. I honestly can’t think of anything I’d rather have 🤷‍♀️
      The Jerusalem Artichoke is a member of the daisy family, the tuber is full of inulin. Hubby once planted some of these at our last house. They returned like a beautiful tasty welcome weed every year.
      I always made this delicious soup with them -
      500g Jerusalem Artichokes, sliced
      1 Onion, chopped
      2 tbsp Oil
      900mls veg stock
      150mls milk
      50g cheddar cheese, grated
      Salt and pepper
      Just sauté the onion in the oil until transparent (I don’t use oil anymore so I would just sauté in water)
      Add the artichokes and stock, bring to boil, cover and simmer for 20 mins, until artichokes are tender
      Blend, then add milk (I would use a plant based milk now) and cheese (I’m going to try adding Nutritional Yeast flakes)
      Season if needed
      Reheat gently before serving.
      You can also slice raw Jerusalem artichokes and add to salads. They have a sort of sweet nutty flavour. I also used to make chips out of them. Haven’t tried yet, but I’m thinking you could air fry them.
      I’m waiting for the 3 Quart Instant Pot to be on special offer. That’s on the top of my wish list. I have the 6 quart Sage Multicooker, my new Instant Pot is the large 8 quart. So it would be great to have the full family 😂 I don’t know what we did without them 😂 What are we like 😂 Take care loves. Speak to you soon x

      Hi Sue. I’m learning that whether it’s a bra, a pair of jeans, a woolly hat or a pair of shoes, every size can differ. Ordered a pair of shoes from Ecco. Been wearing their shoes for 30 years plus. Always been the same size. Currently have 4 pairs that fit but not this one. Same size I always get and they’re too big. Frustration.com! The Amazon man has been back and forth like the proverbial fiddler’s elbow this week. Just had Joe order me some more Christmas gifts. I beginning to think armchair shopping rocks! Yes, I still have Naomi as my consultant. She has taken on the Friday groups and everyone is thrilled. The lady is a diamond. Hope you had fun with those kids. Stay safe. Much love Jane xx

      Hi Caroline. I don’t use a recipe, I just toss things in the pan but I’ll share an approximation with you. 8 ozs organic black lentils or any other dried lentils. 2 pints veg stock. Flavouring: 1 tsp cumin, half tsp garlic powder and onion powder, quarter tsp coriander and chilli to taste. One large finely chopped white onion. Simmer chopped onion in one pint of stock until tender. Add lentils and second pint stock. Add flavourings and stir. Simmer until lentils are tender. You may need to add more water as some lentils just drink it up lol. You can add other veg like potato or cauliflower but just play with it and see what you like. Hope that’s some use. Stay safe. Hi Jane and Joe! Love your video as usual. Just wanted to let you know I have the same salad chopper and it is lovely and worth every penny ( or quid ?) It has made me able to eat much more salad as I am not a fan of chewing lots of green leafies but knowing how nutritious they are I wanted to find a way to do so. I believe I was introduced to it by Krocks in the Kitchen. I would like to ask if you would share the brand name of the broth you found. I have been looking for one that doesn't contain the nasty ingredients in the Better Than Bouillon that I use now. I would greatly appreciate knowing. You are doing us a great service by sharing your finds and I thank you. Take care! Pray for the United States please, especially Pennsylvania. Lord have mercy on us all. Love, Barb
