I have a feeling that this would have ended up being a time paradox by the Ancients. They found what they think may be a possible message, ended up ascending to truly learn it, find out that the whole thing was just them from a point in time doing it to ensure that they would ascend, and so have to use time travel to place whatever this was to ensure that they would ascend to find it to place it.

I agree with your third theory in part, but my thoughts were that the Destiny was heading for the origin point of the Big Bang, what could be considered the center of the universe. But, when they get there, they find some multidimensional structure (think building with hyperspace) that turns out to be a life boat from the previous universe. Filled with our next bad guys. Something truly threatening, similar to the Magog World-ship from Andromeda.
    Anyway, that was my theory.

I actually find the possibility of a coherent message surviving a 'big crunch' event to be the least likely of the three scenarios you identified. Time travel was the first thing that came to mind seeing as the series has repeatedly explored time travel and has a recurrent theme of false gods.

Or, the "message" was basically a probe from another dimension or alternate universe. The probe inadvertantly triggered the Big Bang.
Therefore, the message is, "Hello? Anybody home?" lol

SG is beloved to me, and my father ever since the first movie came out. Bless you sir. When SG - 01 came out it was like meeting an old friend, anew. My father gave me his theory about the original movie, and the first episode of SG - 01. He taught me the theory of the Multiverse. That seems applicable to this situation.

I never liked the idea of Ascension. Are these beings then outside of our universe, they can't be because they are born from it. But perhaps there lies the message, perhaps that is where the Ascended reside. Rush did say that they had found a structure. Could it be a physical thing, the petri dish that the universe is being created in?
Who knows? The voyage of the Destiny was the greatest piece of SciFi ever.

Great vid.i agree with your 3rd theory. Einstein didn't accept the idea of a Big Bang, he believed the Universe is Flat. Always been here, always will be. One of the rare time's he was wrong. Even though it was predicted in his Maths. It would have been awesome to see what other wacky secrets were aboard the Destiny. # bring back SG Universe! 😂👍🇨🇦🍻

Well since there are multiple destiny like ships having been sent out into the universe i feel like destiny is tasked with picking up as many pieces of the puzzle as it can handle using the gate ships that were sent out ahead of it as a "roadmap" of sorts, I have the distinct feeling though that the message is how who ever can discover it is able to ascend to a even higher plane then the current ascended because they are confined to our area of space and not the entirety of space beyond the big bang as mentioned in season 9 and 10 of sg1 with the ori being seperate ascended beings.

I quite love the eventuality that, in lieu of never truly being capable of realizing any Proof regarding the Creation/Creator of the Cosmos, that it actually happens to be that some Advanced Civilization, having desperately sought some answers about the Origins of it All, somehow experienced a Temporal Traversal that in fact, for whatever the reasons, resulted in some technology, perhaps even a Space Ship, caught up in the Big Bang itself, with it's integration, embedding said Message within the CMBR

I don’t think it’s the Big Crunch, I think it’s that entropy will always win but it’s the duty of sufficiently advanced races to restart the process, to artificially kick off another Big Bang in time, that’s why there’s a structure in the cmbr, it’s left over from whatever device they used, or program the schematics of the device into the signal that’s left over.

My theroy is that the destiny crew due to time travel Shenanigans were the foundation of the Ancients

  • @traverserred
    @traverserred 4 месяца назад +1

The destiny itself is traveling back in time every time they jump into “FTL”
The reason they bump into another Destiny in Twin Destinies is because Chloe programmed in a “ftl” jump that looped back to the planet where Rush killed the Lucian alliance guy. Since destiny is traveling back in time as it travels forward in “ftl” they ended up behind their previous selves. When that ship is stopped in its tracks in the attempt to dial earth they come across it. It had nothing to do with a solar flare when dialing, the solar flare sent the crew back in time not the ship. Telford made it back to earth but he had a time discrepancy I don’t remember how long it was but it was several hours difference. The reason the ship has to stay in “ftl” for a certain amount of time is so they don’t bump into any of the other destinies.
Imagine a line of multiple destinies all in a row that is how it would look to an outside observer. If any of them stopped for whatever reason the Destiny behind it would be able to adjust. Remember that episode where they got killed on the worm planet, They had multiple tries to get it right
We don’t know for sure how the communication stones work they could work across time as well. That would explain why the stones are interrupted whenever they jump or come out of “ftl” the stones have to re-connect to the new time.
Ultimately Destiny’s mission is to reach the beginning of time and start the Big Bang and the structure in the CMBR is what is left of Destiny after it blew up creating the Big Bang.

@sg-24 I did consider the time travel theory for destiny kinda making destiny a self for filling prophecy but the more I thought about it the less it made sense to me but non the less it's plausible in scifi I favour my 3rd theroy the most as it rules out a creator and time travel for the big bang but who know only the writers have that answer

Damn I miss this show, I always figured that the message would be from Destiny when it somehow time travels and creates the universe, it’s dumb but it’s easy for TV. The question I never got past was the why, I don’t really see a motivating factor for any of the purposed ideas. Some creator put its fingerprint on the universe? To what end? If Destiny somehow created the universe then it’s seems to be a paradox. Aliens at the end of time create the next universe? That’s a pretty feel good story line but there’s no benefit to them or even likelihood that the next universe would figure it out. It would seem to be more logical that they would spend their time trying to fight entropy. I still don’t have even a half assed theory that makes any real sense to me

The last theory is the best, however, it has a major flaw. The concept of the big crunch has since been discarded, as all of our current knowledge suggests that the universe will continue to expand for eternity. There is a new theory of similar vein, which suggests that after a "subjective" eternity, a new universe is simply born...and that this process continues over and over. Therein, What I think the message is, is not a passing on of knowledge, but simply a signature...a way for a previous universes denizens to say "We were here. We existed." Perhaps those previous denizens had a hand in the creation of our current universe, or perhaps, knowing that their time was ending, just wanted to leave a monument to their existence.

Destiny itself is causing the message. It's ftl drive, which has been operating for millions of years over billions of light years is having an effect on the section of universe it's covered. Being that it's faster than light, those effects are being propagated backwards in time.

  • @doublej1076

I'd always thought it was an echo from a previous universe: I doubt an early civilization for the same reason you do, and I don't think they'd use God because they spent the first decade and a half of the franchise's existence showing that "gods" are just people believing their own hype.
Your question about the ascended Ancients is a good one. Now that I think about it, I think they do know the answer now -- and I think the people who sent the message were also ascended beings. According to our current knowledge, a universe in the late stages of a Big Crunch is incompatible with life as we know it. So the only people who'd be there to send the message (or maybe guide the crunch to help determine the physical constants in the new universe) would be people who don't need to operate on our plane of existence.
So I think that once they ascended they realized they needed to stay there to shepherd the next universe along when the time came. That may be why they have their non-interference rule -- if they could create Merlin's weapon, someone else could too. And if there are no ascended beings this time through, maybe Life ends with our Big Crunch. Or maybe the crunch doesn't happen at all without them, since it seems like our universe will go the Heat Death route instead. Maybe once Life ends and there's nobody left to notice, ascended beings begin a crunch in order to reboot the universe.

The 4 race meeting in sg1 was a great example of something cool with a really bad seaside location that didn't factor in erosion over time.

I think the 'intelligence' that we're shown is within Destiny is constantly collecting and collating data about the message as it goes, and it doesn't have to traverse the entire universe to do it, just enough to get a decent sample would justify the mission.
We know from Canon that ascended beings are only really aware of the galaxy they live in, and despite their powers they tend to become very introspective and incurious once the Ascend. So it's entirely possible they either forgot about the Destiny mission or just don't care. I'd like see the whole cast brought back with the explanation that Eli found the only way to let Destiny survive the journey was to reduce power on all the stasis tubes so they kept everyone including him alive, but didn't stop aging. (I'm aware this isn't how they work, but hey..)
If any cast members don't want to return they can conveniently die in stasis. And new crew can be gated out from earth.
