I'm a GenX rider who's been riding for decades. I own a couple Chinese built bikes, among a European and Japanese bike as well. Many of the latest crop of Chinese machines remind me of the machines I grew up with, in quality and reliability. They seem to be about equal in those categories to bikes from the 80's and 90's. Those were pretty darn good bikes and got us everywhere we wanted or needed to go.
thank you
Good review. I have a 2019 Hawk 250 with @ 10,000 miles on it and it still runs like a champ. I've done all of the well-known mods, and for what it is, it rips. Barring rain, it's my daily commuter. Regular oil changes every 500 miles and regular maintenance, and it just runs. Best $1400 I've ever spent.
Yeah my hawk has easily already paid for itself. Its a hilarious value for the money
Do you have problems getting parts for these Chinese bikes?
@@jsk.71 very rarely. Orionpowersports and amazon are all ive ever used and they are well stocked. Plus if you join certain dedicated FB groups you will find people dealing parts and sometimes selling their own custom upgrades. Its a very fun culture
Is it still 1400? And what are your thoughts on this versus a used bigger brand like honda?
Moto cult has a step 3 upgrade for this to make it a 250cc
The fact that it has a carburetor, if there was ever an EMP or anything. This 1400 bike will run while no modern car will 😂
Umm ignition coils?
It has a kick start.
You can also push start it in a pinch.
The cdi might suffer coils wont suffer
I picked up a Hawk 150 and it’s been a blast. Had a front fork bolt strip immediately but fixed that up and it’s been wonderful. Great runner and run as heck. Like you said, they’re a ridiculously great value for the money.
Excellent !...The Everyman Motorcycle....it's about time...I've owned 15 bikes in 55 years...and currently ride a Honda Africa Twin...I'm getting a Hawk...for basic fun...and to beat those pesky gas makers...Hugely helpful tutorials, Brough...Carry On
I'm really considering this as my learning bike. You can't beat the price, upgrades included.
My impression is that is has the typical stuff you have to deal with when buying something Chinese, and too many corners are cut for any real off roading, but it works well for a beginner bike

Well, you can beat the price if you get a used Japanese bike, but I get your drift. It's fun to tinker.
I bought a dlx hawk, fuel injection, it's got 11,000. Miles I've had no serious problems still runs ok. Very happy with the product for the price.
dlx review coming too
These are neat. You should check out the crop of $4500-$5100 dirt bikes coming out of China now. I'm a GenX'er who's owned and rode Japanese and European machines since the 80's. These "expensive" (more so than most Chinese bikes) affordable (more so than comparable Japanese or European bikes) are now better quality than the bikes we grew up riding. When I hear people knock these new machines, I'm reminded of those from my parents generation who knocked us for riding something other than an American or possibly British machine.
Well said. I learned on an 85 rebel. I like being able to have a few different china bikes for the price of a Japanese or American bike. For the price of a grom I got a lifan 150 and a magician 250. Both solid for their price.
Has a cool look to it. Reminds me of Suzuki DZR’s or the XT250.
I personally wouldn’t trust my life on a Chinese bike, lol. I like the tried and trusted manufacturers.
Could definitely see buying something like this for my son if he wants a cheap bike to ride around the property and woods in my area.
I recently got one of the X Pro Titan variants delivered to my house from Amazon. I'm 53 and have had bikes and atvs my whole life. Mostly Hondas. I'm really enjoying it. I mean, a lot. And it cost less than the shocks on my 450R.
Cool video man, where are you located in NJ I'm in the south. Also.I just got a Bashon Brozz recon to mess around with.
Have you ever tried the 300cc jug on one? Man I tell you I knew what I was buying next paycheck after that ride. Damn right these thing never quit. Ride all year snow rain all of it.
I like that a husband and wife team both own HAWKS. I believe this is the exact same engine JANUS uses on their $9k hand made bikes out of midwest USA.
OK, the HAWK opens up a market to lower income earners like teens at Burger King, etc, but to play Devil's Advocate, so does a used Honda. Just because a new Saturn could be had for $4995 doesn't mean it's a good value. Any half educated person knows a cheap car costs 3 times the amount in upkeep, and I'm too poor to own cheap stuff.
I agree entirely
I ve been on the fence for while but after watching this I'm buying one..... awesome review!!!..thx
Got my hawk with 90 miles and title for $450 great deal 🤝✌️
I had one of these. Gave $350 for it no title. I gave it immortal hell it took it all. Dropped it in a creek completely submerged picked up started right up and went on. These are actually decent bikes. After a friend seen all the hell it survived he gave me $600 for it lol. Ppl can say what they want about these but for the $ they are pretty well built(Make sure keep all bolts tighten they tend to work lose loctite everything)
All i do is abuse this bike 24/7/365 and 5k miles in it does not appear to care yet
@@mototaco6603 really the price to reliability ratio on them is pretty much unbeatable
Those CG clones are absolutely bulletproof, I live in Brazil, and the original CG 125/150 bikes here run forever with almost no maintenance.
They are hilariously strong. All ive ever done is fully abuse my bike to the fullest extent with little to 0 maintnence. Im a hawk man through and through
10/10 f*ckin solid review 🤘
Do you think theres a difference in performance between putting a Miccuni vs a Nibbi carb? Great video btw!
You deserve more subscribers my friend lol great review bro
I bought a lifan in Belize on vacation and drove the shit out of it down central American trails to pyramids in the jungle. It held up nicely and I drove it like I stole it. It looked like a replica of the first Honda bikes you showed in this vid. Best 900 bucks I've ever spent.
Great video I ordered one already I hope 🤞 I get it very soon and I ordered all the mods I will be posting videos on all the mods that I install on this Hawk 250 RPS on my channel very soon! 🤔😎🤘
NJ to New Orleans. (I'm in New Orleans) The ending was a surprise. Thanks for the video
what is the top speed with the new sprokets because I am thinking about driving mine from colorado from my dads to my moms which it is looking like she is moving to west virgina of corse I do have to do some repairs because it was in an accident but still.
I've never been on a dirt bike. I own street bike and rzr so I want something cheap. Thanks for this review
The way you put this video together , the amount of information you gave and the shots are very good. What kind of fender is the front fender if you don’t mind me asking I don’t think it’s the one that comes with the hawk.
An acerbis fender i found on amazon. I had to cut the back of it slightly so it wouldnt make contact with the frame
I love these little bikes
Subbed
1800, now
I bought the taotao tbr7 for 1559 delivered about 3 months ago, 1259 before tax so saves 30$ or so on tax,
Main complaint, frame paint quality... Crap and wants to rust if stored outside (no other option where I live), solution coating the entire frame in undercoat... Looks ugle since it is oily and holds dirt but it doesn't rust
New to all this. What difference will the upgraded carburetor make? About to watch your installation video so I’ll probably answer myself but I tend to forget to ask lol. Thanks for the video
Very responsive an and peppy. Just allows for a more proper air fuel mixture. The stock carb is really nothing to call home about. The nibbi really opens the bike up
@@mototaco6603 gotcha. I'll probably just add it to my cart when I buy the bike. crazy that I can do all this on amazon.
I think I'm gonna get one. To sum your video and other reviews. This bike sounds like the most bang for your buck for it's price and versatility.
I’ve taken my truck everywhere you have plus more , probably saw you out there
Where did you get your body kit by chance? I bought my hawk used and all the body parts are missing and can’t find any online 😅
Neat bike, I'm highly considering one.
Very professional and entertaining video. TFL or TLF motorcycle yA RUclips motorcycle channel said it was junk. They had the fuel injected one
hey man i have a shinreay 200cc its basically the same bike they also make them 250s but the engines are identical and the frame is identical too, should i put a mikuni pwk30 on it?i have removed the silencer off of the stock exhaust(had to cut it open) put a smaller front sprocket for easier wheelies, and drive with 2 bent rims >_
How did you register it in NJ im asking because Im not sure if I'll be able to register it since many i have asked have said no ?? i want to buy one that's only thing holding me back 😭😅HELP
Cool motorcycle.Excellent.
Im looking to get one as a first bike, I've been debating over an amazon enduro or haggling with people on Facebook marketplace over a thirty-forty year old enduro that is very questionable. Is there any difference with the taotao tbr7 versus the hawk 250? for the change in price point id expect something but as far as I know its the same engine and plastics.
certainly same 229cc motor and some different plastics. there could be a difference stylistically for you that you prefer. there are rumors that the secondhand hardware (the kit that is built around the engine) is higher quality in the tao tao than the hawk 250. i find them to be kindof untrue save for the bias of me owning a hawk vs a tao tao. i believe more hawks have been sold, so i like the fact that there is a more time tested aspect to the bike and there are a wider range of parts and troubleshooting aspects to the hawk 250 since it is more widely available especially with a "deliver in 7 days" button on amazon. i think either one you will be happy. also the tires that come on the hawk stock are WAYYY knobbier and shred through tough sand and mud whereas the stock tires on the tao tao are about 70% street 30% dirt. so if you hit a mud puddle you will be riding on slicks very quickly. the decision is up to you but they are both excellent bikes. the hawk is currently sitting at 3950 miles and i want to make a 5k mile review when the time comes. i treat my bike extremely poorly, crash it often. change my oil at my own convenience. rev it high constantly for hours at a time; they are fun to work on etc. whichever bike you buy im sure you'll love it. they are hilariously durable for a silly price point. have fun dude
There's also the Apollo line, I've got a 250 super moto and a 125 pit bike.
@@deanteasdale6252 I've seen the apollos I personally don't like the headlight or plastics the tbr7 plastics are very similar to my friends Honda 300L which I prefer a lot more.
Did you go through the VT route for NJ registration? The mft is not on the NJ DMV approved mft list for registration.
3:50 Just get a pz28 or pz30 carburetor. It's a lot cheaper ($25) and works just as good.
6:45 just buy a lithium battery. They're going very cheap, and are lighter.
Damn bro good view. I might get one. How is it going now days?
The Brozz is made by Bashan. I have a 2020 Brozz 250. No issues in 3,500 miles.
What kind of camera do you use for your helmet?
How much louder is this than a rebel 250, and what can be done to make it as quiet as one? Thanks.
Ive owned a rebel 250 and lemme tell you that rebel is damn quiet and extremely properly put together. The hawk 250 is louder; but certainly not noticeably louder. That is if you keep the stock exhaust on
2 shifts at a cinema for $1400?? where tf you at where the cinemas are paying $700 for 8 hours 💀
you can also get the hawk on a loan too! like $69 a month. totally awesome for any bachelor
Is this a great bike for Ross country trip?
Do you know where I can buy parts at for the Hawk 250? I have a warped front wheel that needs replacing.
its a little pricey but i found this on amazon

great review
intro is epic
Good points love this video
So you're saying you need to lesson on staying out water?
Actually. The company that makes these bikes used to be the factory that made Kawasaki. In 2017 they closed up, but didn’t. They just kept making the parts and put it together with no name. Boom powersports then started selling them as their own bike. Then xpro/power sports max started rebranding them as their bike. But you are buying a direct clone. That many exact parts will match to.
Obviously this isn’t for every bike.
This is soooooooooooo tempting. But....what about parts? Do share. :-) Thanks!
Did you have to cut the original exhause system?
Yes
I bought one a month ago and the things still hasn't started
I just got mine in the mail yesterday. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to assemble the rear suspension by myself.
I assume you have figured it out since it's a week later, but two options, lay it on its side, or brace the tail up with a block of wood or something,
Oh and I highly recommend rust mitigation if stored outside, might make it look dirty and the metal sticky but it won't rust, I just sprayed everything down with pb blaster surface shield, either that or sanding and repainting it from scratch, otherwise just live with the rust the paint ain't great (the exhaust will rust no matter what you do)
if i remember right, the hawks front end is attached to the crate. i just did the rear shock while it was still mounted to the bottom crate pan and lifted the back up with one arm while putting the shock bolt in with the other.
@@rozzbourn3653 I ended up getting it I had someone help line the holes up for me so I could slide the bolt in while holding the ass end of the bike up at the same time. It was kinda a pain to do all three by myself.
@@frankfortjuggalo5936 get that Amazon Mikuni clone and rejet before installing.
@@Maxumized I got it in my Amazon list. So far so good with the stock carb. I'm going to order the other carb as a backup because I don't think the stock carb comes apart for cleaning. Do you know if you are able to unassemble take apart the mikuni clone carb?
I love my brozz
it is an excellent bike. if finances permit it i'd love to pick up a brozz
does it come with the title when delivered
Do u know what spark plugs come stock in them?
Thank you
Welcome!
How fast have u gone?
How hard was it to get registered in NJ?
i had one and it didnt run when wet. troubleshooted it for months, read every forum, consulted experts, could never fix it. Switched to Japanese and never looked back.
I cant help but agree, my dr650 runs like its nuclear powered
try the lifan kpr200 thats a fun bike
would it be legal in california and would it be harder t regster?
Not califora legal as far as any hawker knows thus far
What trails do you ride in NJ?
out in the pine barrens by toms river
Hahahah love it... To funny.. my bike not the same but it from chinnaa
gettin one thanks!
great choice !!
What is the nibbi carb you used? Thank you
PE30MM
How does it work for short people ????????
im very short about 5'5 on my best day i love it and its comfortable
I had one friend.
It sounded different every time I started it.
It rode different every time I dropped it.
It finally stopped leaking when it was empty.
So I cleaned it and parked it next to an old AMF Harley...it fit right in.
*Now I can lie about riding two different bikes every day. LoL
🇺🇸🤠👍
I believe Its called Li-Faan
Spread the word if you need a sports bike there's one out there for you ☺️
It’s the Volkswagen Beetle of bikes affordable.
That bike is 1750$. That's not including 400$ shipping and 8% sales tax
Was cheaper a couple years ago, theyre going up in price
@@mototaco6603
Yeah, it's an xpro right?
Wait....the hawk isn't made by Lafon....the KPX 250 is the Lafon and its a true 250cc not the 238cc. If they sold this to you as built by Lafon you need to call them and work on getting your mobey back so you can buy the Lafon. Seriously...look up comparisons between the Lafon and the Hawk. Its why your Hawk has such a nane on the title... the KPX 250 actually says manufactured by Lafon on the title. I mean the Hawk might be a good bike...its just in comparison videos they always give the win to the Lafon. Call Lafon USA. Ask them. I hope you enjoy. I really do but thats not a Lafon
the hawk does not have a lifan engine
Yes and no, lifan builds(or at least puts thier name on) the exact same engine, since looking for cg250 engines online you can find the exact same pushrod engine with lifan cast into the case, but zongshen, loncin and shineray also build them too, and they are all nearly indistinguishable, I'm not sure if multiple companies have the same tooling or.... It's rebadged depending on who the customer is... The big Chinese 4 all but engines from each other for there bikes so could be either or
All these upgrades you're doubling the cost of the bike- why not just go buy a Honda then
Not a bad point, crf250L is still like 5k used tho. Id like to buy an older crf250R and put a baja kit on it and apply for a title
Really,,,,,Ok
dude i want one of these, but fucking califonia.
My dad wanted one he was really upset when he found out they dont ship there
@@mototaco6603 it sucks indeed
229 cc's !?!?!? HOW do you get away with calling it a 250 ? THAT makes me NOT TRUST anything you say !!!
Well, the company calls it that too so thats sortof its official name. I also addressed its 229cc size in the beginning of the video so.... are you ok? Lol
@@mototaco6603 . SHORT ANSWER : NO ! You're set up on a "Blind Date" , told he is 5"11" , perfect You answer the doorbell and there stands a 5' 4" fella ! ! NOW , quite possibly , he's a FINE , fun person and MAYBE the date turns out OK . BUT , are you HAPPY with your friend that set you up , will you ever trust anything they say again ?
And , Yeah , I see that YOU"RE not the only one doing this but that doesn't make it OK . I'm still gonna do some "homework" and may buy one anyway , BUT ?
@@mototaco6603 . Thank you for responding . I am pleasantly surprised .
@@sandybarbee8401 you can also add big bore kits to the motor to make the displacement higher :)
@@mototaco6603 . Higher than , 229 ? I've always preferred to have more power than I need but don't want to destroy the economy of it . BUT , also don't want to be afraid to ride it in traffic either , "Just in Case" ! SO , what would you suggest ? Of all your competitors I've looked at , I still very much prefer your's . Simply because of the style . I've NEVER liked the "rice rocket" , racer styling . And I've come to understand that several use the same Honda engine anyway , AND Nothing wrong with that . My first street bike was a Honda 305 cc , Dream (?) Too bad I wasn't smart enough to KEEP it !
So , without "up selling" me TOO MUCH , what would you suggest I consider as far as increasing the bore ? Did I not read in your 229 cc would do 75 MPH ? And saw a RUclips guy who changed sprockets and got MORE top end and lost a little off the line acceleration .
all good so long as you don't mind a bit of slavery in your life.
STOP PROMOTING CHINESE BRAND
Why though? Theyre for sale and they work great
Why? Even cf moto has actually stepped up my buddy has a cf motto 400 and that thing is a beast not to mention the z force those things do anything a razor does and for half the price
