Years after, whenever I saw Arthur English, I still thought of him as the guy from Follyfoot even when he was in “Are you being served”. Like many guys, I had a crush on Gillian. It’s great to be able to get the series on DVD. I did just that with “The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe”, starring Robert Hoffmann as Robinson Crusoe. The tv series of “The Railway Children”, “The White Horses” and “Tom Grattan’s War”. I’ll have to get this now too 😁. Loved the theme tunes. We seem to have the same kind of feelings when we hear the themes as it takes us back to happier times when mum and dad were still with us and homework was our biggest worry.
I have never watched this series because it has never been aired/broadcasted in my country, but honestly speaking the title song of the programme gives a person one hell of a confidence and encouragement to follow your heart and fulfill your dreams! A fan and an admirer from Pakistan!
That one lady hit the nail on the head. It wasn't a children's program at all, yet it was produced for the children's market as far as I can tell, considering it was on in NZ when we got home from school. It had a darkness and grittiness that I remember to this day.
How I loved this series as a child. Now 45 plus years on, I'm re-watching them all again. It's interesting how your perspective changes but I see a beautiful program with very good story lines. Gillian was a very good actress in fact, they all were.
I used to watch this at home in New Zealand. The actors were great. I'd love the books and adored horses and this series was the next best thing to owning a horse. Gillian Blake and Steve Hodson were and are wonderful. Come on back!
Never watched this when I was a 70's kid but the theme always stuck in my mind, so I just purchased the complete follyfoot set on dvd, 5 discs in and I'm in love with Dora, shouted at the screen several to Steve "for crying out loud man kiss her" really enjoying it and as I only have one dvd left to watch I'll be watching it all over again when it's finished. Thank you Gillian for making my heart pound again, you are a beauty xxxxxx
My husband and I recall follyfoot farm earnestly and when out walking in the fields he starts singing the theme tune ,which means for the remainder of the hike I cannot get it out of my head!
Along with many others, I had a massive crush on Gillian Blake. To be honest, even as a happily married grandfather, she still makes my heart miss a beat or two.
omg - I grew up on a real Follyfoot farm helping rescuing horses in Bristol - and then owning my own horses where I now live - I have always idolised Dora - thank you for coming to light again watching this has been a joy. You are a legend - x
i was 13 when follyfoot finished in 1973 ,it broke my heart .i was so in love with gillian blake then ,i wrote to her many many times but never got a reply ,i was a lonely boy ,living at home with my mother ,and always looked forward to watching follyfoot each week .i did received one signed photo of her from y tv which i still have to this day .i did record many of the shows on video years ago now and showed them to my kids who loved them .still have many of the books of follyfoot and of course i now have all three dvds of follyfoot .there should have been a season 3 and there was talk of a film which never happen .and it was sad that gillian stoped her tv work ,i feel she could have done so very well if she kept it up ,im coming up to 56 now and ms blake would be now around 69 ish will never for get follyfoot and my first love .thank you
There WAS a season 3 but there was no season 4.I had a crush on the character of Dora but not the actress Gillian Blake who played her if that makes sense.
Loved this show as a kid & yes, the music has stuck with me :) Ive also seen TV adverts trying to copy the theme but no where near as good :) Loved to see this , 40 years on. It has to now be 50 years now, as I see this was posted in 2011 :)
Me too and I also fell in love with the UK and was happy to fullfill my childhood dream and was able to live there over ten years. Until Brexit took place 👎👎😭😭😭 am gutted and heard broken and maybe won't be able to visit the film set in Yorkshire anymore.
@@marion2360 Ha ha !! You done right leaving after Brexit ! Everything has turned to shit, as I knew it would do. Thats why I voted against it. If there was a vote now, Im sure that most would vote against Brexit & have it reversed. Ive never been to where the show was filmed but it always looked so beautiful there :)

It shows now at the fisherie industrie they all wanted the out of the EU and now they feel the pressure and would like to go back where it was. But I still miss it and get wet eyes when I watch escape to rhe country and see everything I've been and just wanted to reverse my decision. Unfortunately, now it's too late for me because I messed up my chance to apply for my permit residency and I would have to start all over again 😭 But have a nice weekend and we just can hope people wake up in time 🤞🤞🤞🍀🍀
Steve Hodson is on the radio quite often in plays and serials on Radio 4 & Radio 4 Extra. Christian Rodska who played Ron also does the same and also appears on TV quite a lot. I like many young men at the time had a huge crush on Dora she was gorgeous!
She is still beautiful, I wanted to name my daughter Dora but my wife said no way ( she was jealous..lol.) so we opted for Gillian.. aw well. But I never got over her xx
Still a stunning looking lady,I had the hots for her when I was a lad. I was so entranced by her I was going to cycle to were the Follyfoot farm was. I was in London.
Ahh, Dora in crushed velvet hotpants and with a feathered haircut. Quintessential late 60s and early 70s. I wonder if I could still get into my two tone flared loon pants.
I'm amazed that the actresses only soundbite is as glib as "health and safety would prevent this being made". As an actresses would she not have something positive to say about the role, or maybe even how good the scripts were and how they dealt with a lot of issues for teenagers???

Thanks for this, Steve's voice seems posher than when he was on the show, and Gillian is still beautiful.
He's done lots of radio and voiceover work since then, always instantly recognisable.
Loved this as a child
Xxxx
Such a shame that this programme didn't do more series.

i think every male was in love with dora! very fit, great figure and very attractive!
Ray Sharp so true Ray 😄
The dolly cut and the lovely eyes did it for me
Anybody notice how beautiful her hands are?
Ha ha !! I know that Iwas & to think that I was about 11 years old :)
Attractive to a point hehehe
When I was five years old I fell in love with the twenty-four year old female actress Gillian Blake in the series Follyfood
so lovely to see them again♥
I used to love Follyfoot.
50th anniversary must be this year, bless
Gillian Blake still looks great
Thanks for this. Nice to see Dora and Steve today. Gillian has long retired from acting, but Steve is working as a voice-over artist I believe

Clark Kent things you do when you have a crush....
I had a crush on her when i was a teen
I remember this and that theme tune, Dora and her strange hair arrangement.
Ahh, Dora in crushed velvet hotpants and with a feathered haircut. Quintessential late 60s and early 70s. I wonder if I could still get into my two tone flared loon pants.
She did do a progamme on BBC called Playhouse, the one she was in had Desmond Llwelyn (sorry if its spelt wrong) in it.
I only watch it because i like Gillian Blake and the theme tune
I'm amazed that the actresses only soundbite is as glib as "health and safety would prevent this being made". As an actresses would she not have something positive to say about the role, or maybe even how good the scripts were and how they dealt with a lot of issues for teenagers???
When did this occur? Would have love to have gone. Still love this. My most favourite show as a kid. Thanks for showing it excog75.
And couldn't she act though!!!? She was absolutely amazing - totally believeable. Its amazing she didn't go on to do other things.
What happened to the famous tree?

Never watched the show but the theme tune sounds similar to the music in the 1973 movie The Wicker Man.

they have still got there looks
