I was 21 years old and drove from DC to the Went by myself, with the hopes of meeting some of my friends up there. The line of traffic was simply unreal; miles and miles and miles of Phish traffic. I ended up finding my friends Saturday evening at a nitrous tent party featuring Parliament music by the DJ. Completely insane things happened in the lot at The Went.
Phish was amazing, of course. The Bathtub Gin is, to this day, my favorite Phish jam all time. It is perfection.
It was a trip that changed my life. I don’t know what else I can say to express the importance of that experience.
Long live Phish and long live the fans. Love you all.

I was a young, innocent 10 year old living in Northern Maine at this time. I was amazed at how these gatherings came to our random spot on the map. But I'll still watch EVERY video I can to this day knowing that this craziness was just a few miles away and how much I enjoy their music now as an adult.

I drove to The Went from Norfolk, VA in my 1985 Volvo wagon. Picked up my boyfriend in West Chester, PA and about 30 cases of Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout and Taddy Porter. Drove through the night across the Tappan Zee Bridge around NYC and into New England. We arrived at Loring Air Force base with plenty of time to spare, set up camp (in the rain!) And begin selling the cases of beer. My bf made double his investment and we were sold out before the last night! What a trip! What a show! Thank you for posting your video and thanks Phish for the memories. 🎶

This was my first show. My friend’s mom drove us across the border from New Brunswick. I was 16. It remains one of the craziest experiences of my life, mostly in a good way. One of my friends took LSD on the second day and spent the whole night eating raw corn. We had to stop over and over again on the way home to let him go to the can.

Thanks for sharing! Magical time in my life. I was 19 in 97. I was so excited for this festival after having done Clifford Ball the summer before.

Heyo! I was on yt looking for a song from phish and saw this video from The Great Went. I was there with a couple friends. I lived in Duxbury at the time, 19 years old. I drove to NH to pick my friends then the next morning we drove to Limestone. I was driving my 1970 VW camper bus so going fast really wasn't an option, ha. That last line into the site was nuts! New potatoes were everywhere. I was hoping to me bus in your video but no. I remember the crappy rainy day. Amazing memories. Thank you for putting this up. Gonna try to get to Mondegreen. Have a good day

This festival looks really filthy compared to the newer ones All that living underground w Trey in the Dirt was this the Bathtub Gin epic version or was that Clifford the first one the previous year it all starts to blend together especially 1.0 because I became a fan in 2003 US Bank Cinci both shows but n2 really got me hooked in deep and you cant listen to soundboards of every say summer 98 show before I die which I kinda need to get that top 40 1 pop song per night tour in and under my belt what a funny idea as a gag
I even have the Clifford Ball bluray and still cant recall which had the better Gin i think it was this one

Well, in comparison I suppose it was filthy, but we didn't care. We washed ourselves from the gigantic water barrels and we paid 70 bucks to get in for 3 days. Everyone paid the same amount we all basically figured out how to park on our own and we rode a new high collectively with the band together. Yes, this was the Gin. Oh, there was almost no security/police presence at all and there sure as hell wasn't any searches. It was 3 days of heaven.
