- PHISH - The "Hoist" Tracking Sessions [1994]
Short video documenting the recording/tracking of the album "Hoist" by PHISH. This is prior to the incident when Trey ate Fishman's Fractal accidentally on purpose.
Enjoy.
Oh, a shameless plug for my Twitch channel:
Watch me live multiple times per week in the late evening(EST) over at / reevo2600hz Видеоклипы
This is absolutely incredible! Been a phan since 1995 from 1st hearing A Live One in British Columbia when on the mandatory Canadian West summer Trip! Met up with friends and made a new one, Jean Philippe Vézina, he was the 1st person that introduced me to Phish and I was hooked (pun intended !). Sadly he died a few years later coming back from a Phish concert, driver fell asleep at the wheel and they crashed into an overpass in JP’s Volvo 240 station wagon…. I owe him a lot, for Phish and for steering my musical tastes in a new and incredible direction. This album has many emotions associated with it (for me at least). That ‘gravel’ part is crazy, never would of thought! Thank you for this insight.
Never knew he did that pick slide in Wolfman’s. And the SG on Axilla!
Great video i didnt know Bela Fleck did the banjo in Mule
Thank you so much for posting this. I've known it existed for over 25 years, but never knew how I could see it.
I love the section where they’re doing Axilla and they get Mike solo just screaming Axilla Axilla Axilla!
I still have this VHS at my parents house. Hoist was the first album that was released once I'd been turned on to them but I seem to remember A Live One better and for sure when Billy Breaths came out...I always thought the editing was so funny how this was put together.
This album was my college soundtrack
This soundtrack was my college album 😊
This college was by album soundtrack
for me it was 7th grade summer vacation, I think...
Likewise
mike doing vocals for axilla.. lmfao
Entire album is a masterwork imo
They have got to look back fondly at those times and their capabilities even as such young men. Masterpiece
I'll never forget this video. Think I saw it in like 97 or so. I thought it was high def until 4k poisoned me lol
This is Trey from Phish
Unheard response: Oh my god, no f@cking way!
Amy's Farm! Auburn, Maine for the Hoist album cover... I was there in 91'
Make it so, number one.
So it’s just a big magic trick, this is why i prefer everything in one take..
17:21 LSD
probably but not necessarily.
looking for owl's
100%
16:13 and the next morning lol
Ok hold tf up. Was that bela fleck playing banjo???
Yes. Almost 30 years ago 😮
🎣 I’m hooked😵💫
I totally owned this on VHS and watched it nonstop back in the day! My first real glimpse of the boys. PS who is that guy who looks like fish's brother??
Wolfman
@@cameronhill4000 Exactly what I was going to say.
I still have mine
This is fucking AMAZING!!! thank you so much
This was a great sounding album. Educational to see how it was recorded. Very cool that Mike made this video.
10:27 i almost choked on my food
thank you.
I wish they would release like twenty hours of this footage.kinda like the Beatles just did.well that was like 9 hours lol,I would take 9
Who's the guy in the purple shirt at 9:15?
Me: "that guy playing Trombone looks like Riker"
*looks at wikipedia entry for Hoist production*
"Hoist features guest appearances from Alison Krauss, Béla Fleck, Tower of Power, Rose Stone and a host of other musicians, as well as actor Jonathan Frakes on trombone."
Who is the magnificent gentleman in purple??
6:49 that's a bit better than Page and Mike when live 😂
10:20
i had this on vhs lol
@3:50 I wanna know who had the high score on Defender, and what was that score. I’d guess Page because fingers
🦉
Hoist is easily my favorite album just like you...who's with me
14:00 Fishman is the absolute shaman gem of this band. You can see why they stuck together for 40 years when you have a guy who absolutely doesn't take himself seriously. I phucken love these guys.
Hahaha who the fuck is Frim?!?
Number One was a bit fugged up eh?
I am DYING to know the names of those background singers!
Well, perhaps you jest, but they are provided at the end of the video.
Allison Krause on If I Could!
I know it makes me wonder if they’ve ever seen them live before.
Geeking out over that owl brought the biggest smile to my face. 😂
Makes absolutely no sense.
