    A warning to people about MSFS in VR.... Once you get used to everything being in 3D, it gets much harder to fly with a flat screen. I have been in VR since they first patched it and I have a hell of a time now trying to land looking at a flat screen. I know, first world problems, right?

    • @XP72official
      @XP72official  2 месяца назад +3

      With the short time I’ve had it I have the same problem. The flat screen looks kinda weird now 😂. I don’t know why though. Been using it for years.

    Got my Pimax crystal a few weeks ago. It’s absolutely mind blowing. It just takes time to use your hardware with a vr headset on but it doesn’t take long at all to be proficient.
    Setting all your controls is key. Moving the camera cockpit left, right, down, up, forward and back and a camera cockpit reset button.
    Also using an Xbox controller to control the drone camera is wild in vr.
    As new CPU’s and video cards come out the Pimax crystal light can be used for years and run even better in the future.
    One big tip is get the Pimax comfort strap. It’s a must. Keeps you perfect in the sweet spot and it’s super comfortable.

    So great to see more people realising what VR does for the immersion. I've been flying exclusively in VR for the last 10 years or so now and I wouldn't even consider flying in pancake mode again.
    Welcome to the wonderful world of VR and enjoy 🙂

      Totally agree. It’s hard to fly in 2D now.

    You’re inspiring me to plug my hp reverb g2 back in. I always found with VR I spent too much time tinkering with settings to maximize fps and not enough time flying, but the immersion can’t be beat.

      I lower settings to have a smoother experience as long as the cockpit looks sharp. MSFS has a separate graphics page just for VR.

    The real game changer for flight sims is VR Mixed Reality. Being able to see and use your cockpit peripherals, while being also in VR is amazing. I know Pimax have plans to build a MR headset.

    VR is certainly is the best way to get the most from your sim. My friends are blown away when the go for a test flight. (and a little quesy afterwards tring topgun type maneuvers 😮. Looking forward MR on the Crystal ala Apple Vision Pro and shared cockpit so I can fly with my friends.

    Thanks for the video and agree that VR is the way to enjoy flight simming. I have been enjoying VR with X-Plane for almost 6 years now and has been a great ride. I also was at FSExpo but did not get a chance to try out the Crystal Light because was to busy but did try the VR-1 but for me will keep enjoying my Beyond.

    Tried VTOL VR? An entire VR fighter jet sim, built from the ground to be played entirely in vr, using only VR controls as input, the only other input allowed are rudder pedals.

    Yes, ye-esss! VR is definitely the ultimate simming experience, @XP72! Flying traffic patterns in both G.A. and jetliners is a breeze! Yes, I fly traffic patterns in *all* sim aircraft; it makes you a better pilot. Peace. 😊

      @XP72official  2 месяца назад +1

      I agree with you on flying traffic patterns in the planes you own. Definitely does make you better at flying them.

    • @nathanwildthorn6919
      @nathanwildthorn6919 2 месяца назад

      @XP72official Yessir! The traffic pattern utilizes all phases of flight: takeoff, climbout, cruise (downwind), descent (base), and final approach. 😃

      @XP72official  2 месяца назад +1

      Definitely. It’s how I test planes. Setup DEP and ARR in the FMC and then manually fly it. You can also test out the auto throttle and heading select them ILS if you wish too.

    Nice video XP, I've been thinking about VR for a while and the Pimax looks awesome, I have a 3070 so i guess that would run it? At some point i want to get it. But the question is....i wear glasses will this work with glasses?

    • @XP72official
      @XP72official  2 месяца назад

      I’ll be running the Crystal light on another rig with a 3070ti for driving sim by this weekend so I’ll know then how it performs. There a a few third party corrective lens makers out there for this VR headset. I might be trying one out soon for myself. You can also get a thicker foam padding for the faceplate so you can wear your own glasses with it.

    what kind of framerate are you getting in vr? is it smooth? I have a 4090 with a quest 3 and getting around 69 fps with 72 hrtz. That feels terrible. microstutters all the way! Nice vid btw :)

    • @XP72official
      @XP72official  8 дней назад

      I haven’t checked my FPS however I get no micro stutters. I adjust my sim to medium and some low speed n the VR settings.

  • @Smokeyr67
    @Smokeyr67 2 месяца назад +1

    I have to disagree. VR is fantastic, but its immature at the moment. I run a Pimax Crystal on a 4090, 13900k, 64 GB Ram and its good, but not fantastic. I also run 3 x 42 inch monitors, and again, they're goid but not fantastic. The advantage of the non VR experience is that I have the full cockpit at my real fingertips, in VR I miss that tactile and direct interaction. Flipping the coin, in VR every aircraft that I fly has its own specific avionics essentially for free, I dont have to buy or make the panels or compromise with their accuracy, but I still find that interacting with the instrumentation in VR is "game like", it lacks the sense of actually pushing a button or spinning a rotary.
    I doubt that I'll see it in my lifetime, but mixed reality is the ultimate option, in the meantime I'll flight sim on my triples and race sim in VR.
    (Speaking of reality, when will MS realise that not all aircraft run Garmin avionics? I'd love a PC -12 or 24 equipped with the correct Honeywell avionics, but I'd also like them to have a realistic flight model too....

    You should at least disclose that you’re a affiliate partner of pimax.
    I’m a big vr fan and the crystal light seems to be a great product but this video just is just a sales pitch. No words about the negatives of vr in general or the crystal itself.

      Hey Thomas I understand your concern but I did clearly state that Pimax invited me to try the headset at FSXPO and also sent me one. I also said that this is my first VR experience and so have nothing to compare it to and so no negative were found for me so far. Thanks
