Gen Z Marine Officer Explains Why Gen Z Isn’t Joining & How to Fix It: 2nd Lt. Matthew Weiss - ruclips.net/video/09pVVwx--J4/видео.html
The problem with murica is that you never experienced war for survival.
Never.
The government is owned and operated by the Corporations, why join the military if you are essentially fighting for corporate interest?
You all have corrupt cops to thank for a huge part of the erosion of faith in the country.
@@riccia9674 it's not a country, it's a corporation
The only fix is making America more economically viable for regular people.
Difficult to recruit to the military when respect and faith in the government is eroded to an all time low.
It's even more difficult to recruit to the military when the commanders are pushing ideological policy that coddles weakness and has people walk on egg shells. It's hard to recruit when they're letting in people you can't trust to have your back because they have a default 40% chance of trying to do the enemy's job for them. It's hard to recruit when they sacrifice combat readiness in favor of feelings and act accordingly. It's hard to recruit when you have drag queens, very feminine men, trying to be social media ambassadors for the military.
All of that said, there's also something most people don't understand. You're never supposed to have faith in the government. You're supposed to not trust it, you're supposed to scrutinize it. Hell the military doesn't swear allegiance to the government, their allegiance is sworn to a set of laws crafted to RESTRAIN that government. And they swear that allegiance in the same breath that they swear to defend that same set of laws from not only foreign enemies, but domestic ones as well.
Technically an enemy of the constitution is an enemy of the US military and a government that seeks to undermine it, you see where i'm going with this.
To trust a government doesn't mean you can't scrutinize them. You can judge someone like your friends actions while still believing they have your best interests in mind. While the military isn't bound by allegiance to the government they still stand by them 100%, they are "in the pocket" of the same politicians US Citizens don't trust.@@killer13324

I’d argue that it’s the faith in humanity in general that’s at an all time low, they say “You get the government you deserve”
Gen Z knows we’re not defending freedom. We’re defending corporations and their interest.
Couldnt have said it any better. Most young folks dont care about the LGBT stuff in the military, hell they are the most accepting generations of it. It's the fact that the military isnt defending its people or its allies, its defending its coporations interests instead. Why would any sane person join a military that doesnt care about its own people.

Just that wouldn't be so bad.

@@FineWine-v4.0 There is much to be proud of. And I'm not even American myself. If you're refering to slavery then you should read a history book and stop being ignorant. Slavery was normal before the 1800's. Not just in the United States, but all over the world. Before the Europeans started colonizing other countries, it was mostly Europeans being taken as slaves by Arab kingdoms and empires. In Asia, Africa and other continents slavery was also considered a normal part of life. Those times were brutal for everybody. Europeans were the first to abolish slavery. Oh, the Feds are very interested in the wellbeing of the American people. They are interested in making it worse!
Hi Scott
Could be worse... we could be in the Russian Military. You want poverty, at least we get paid every month in Britain. There are no videos asking our local MP to contact the PM to get our wage packet.
At it's fundamental core, military service was more viewed as a civic duty. The US no longer has that sense of civic duty.
At the same time, thanks to social media and easy access information...people are simply more aware of what the current military really is: It's a weapon for corporate interests.
Since korea is not current
I'm so tired of socialists diverting attention from their gross criminality by blaming all their atrocities on "corporate interests."

If you don't want to be a weapon then don't sign up to be infantry. It's not like these kids don't have a choice in the job they get, a lot of careers in the military are very difficult fields to get into in the civilian world and it's the fastest way to get experience in doing what you want to do with your life.
Anyone who observed Vietnam, Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan will not be willing to sacrifice for bad leadership. As an Afghan vet who is terribly wounded for life how he feels about his sacrifice?
Just wait till you start dealing with the people from the VA and SSDI telling you to kick rocks. Why would they? Our military hasn’t fought a legal war in decades and just ends up pulling out and arming the enemy. Gen Z is gay, but so is shooting cavemen for Lockheed.
Army vet(non combat vet) here. Ask any veteran one question. Was America more free the day you got out than the day you went in? It’s a brutal realization. Maybe Gen Z instinctively understands that we’ve been fighting the wrong enemy since they were born.

When you realize that the government considers disgruntled vets who are tired of the government lying to and abandoning them as “enemy number one” or domestic terrorists then why would anyone want to join the military. Shits crazy, reminds me of that one veteran who was at congress and he started listing the names of his dead brothers he fought with. All he said was “ there were no weapons of destruction, you lied! My cousin Tony bought into the whole "It's an honor to serve your country and defend democracy" line and fought as a Marine in The Gulf War.
The only "honor" he came back with was in the form of scream-yourself-awake nightmares where he'd wake up fighting his wife in his sleep due to the PTSD he developed over the horrors he experienced while serving, particularly during Operation Desert Storm, including one instance of shooting & killing a man he thought was rushing his CO with a rifle held over his head, but later found out was only trying to surrender.

The problem is that it's harder than ever to actually believe the United States are the good guys.
The US is now actually the bad guy..
The US government has shown its true colors over the past two decades.
Because of their policies?
Or is it just because the military got too "woke"?

Olderish millennial. Formerly a combat engineer in the Army reserves. One day it occurred to me we have had troops in combat somewhere for my entire life. How many of those people were actually a threat to my way of life in rural South Carolina? He worked with military contractors and had to keep up with the politics as well. He always told me not to join because he believes the higher ups in government/military don't really care about anyone. They pretend to, because after all the military wants personnel and politicians want votes, but they will try to get away with whatever they can. Preach. No damn way my kids will be part of that. The last noble cause was WWII.
Yeah no reason young men aren't smart enough to see this today. Not only that, but signing up for the military is making yourself a mercenary.
As a veteran myself, it took me many, many years to realize what the US military has become since WWII. Basically, whatever Maj General Butler dealt with (in his book War is a Racket) had amplified after WWII- and the military, controlled by political puppets, has been handed to major corporations.
And who is buying up more and more of corporate interest? It's the country who's name Trump likes to say a lot (hint: they're in Asia). Everyone wonders how they got stealth fighters, simply through abusing the student VESA system by getting kids to infiltrate (been proven for years now). And as we can see even in recent news with the Navy, there are PLENTY of people in the military willing to sell secrets to that particular regime.
Yes, but who is running those corporations?
